I'm about to buy a AOC AGON AG276QZD2 for 457โ‚ฌ. My goal is to have a small upgrade over my VG248QE.

I don't want a better OLED right now because I don't want to put too much money in something that won't last 10 years intact like my TN panel pretty much did. Ideally, this AGON monitor should become a problem only when OLED has become a stable technology were monitors can last 10 years on severe usage conditions.

My only concern is that weird auto brightness feature as I plan to do some color work sometimes, developing games.

Any inputs welcome, should I do it? Am I missing something important?

5060 ti 8GB costs more than 9060 XT but doesn't have enough vram to run modern games at modern resolutions wtf is ngreedia even thinking?! I know the point of this card and the 5060 is mainly to go in prebuilts to scam retards that don't know anything about computers but what about the retail stock? Any DIY pc builder that does even just one google search will know about this and any 5060 ti 8gb or 5060 in microcenter is just gonna rot on the shelves and be dead inventory since you'd have to be mentally stunted to consider either of these over the 9060 XT 16GB

Do you seriously believe that the burn-in meme is real? You think that manufacturers give away products that will last for a few years and you need to buy another top-tier monitor because of image retention? These OLEDs come with protection, pixel clearing tech, and unless you run them 24/7 on 100% brightness on a white screen with still images, nothing on Earth will happen to them. These are made to display fucking content. If you are that paranoid and believe every bullshit, get one with a built in fan.

With the usage I plan on doing with my product, I will most likely obtain burns faster than you, because you sound like someone taking great care of its products.

Do you mean burn ins are an invention of some sort and planned obsolescence is not real?

Nice budget gpu that doesn't work in budget systems because arc drivers are still ass. Best gpu for the money under 500 dollars is 9060 XT 16GB. Sorry intard but AMD is raping shintel in not just the cpu market but now graphics cards because craptel still has an insane ego and won't just give up and declare bankruptcy already.

I believe burn-ins are real, but not from the average usage. People like to claim OLED = BURN-IN PLEASE AVOID, however burn in only occurs when it's used in extreme conditions, like +40C heat, no air flow, highest possible brightness on the highest refresh rate and lots of white screen. What do you do? You use dark theme (you use it anyway, because white theme burns you eyes out), dimm the monitor to a comfy brightness. When you game or watch a movie you set it high for HDR and stuff, enjoy the content, then switch back to normal usage. These monitors have built in profiles you can customize for each use. If you are not a complete retard and know that these monitors MIGHT BE more sensitive to these things, then you'll take a bit more care.

doing my search i was able to find that they are all dram-less and have a slc cache but the nand information is very shady alongside endurance, for instance, the bx500 is qlc and have a low endurance of 120TBW on 500gb which is a good compass to the others and the su650 on 240gb is tlc but no idea about the 480gb version, any suggestions?

Reminder. AMD GPU + AMD CPU combo equals unmatched performance and frametime stability in cpu limited scenarios. Smooth as butter. Meanwhile novideo software driver overhead steals some of your cpu performance in DX12 and vulkan which all modern games use. If you are you on an older am4 system you'd be a moron to consider blackwell over rdna 4 for this reason alone not to mention the many others such as worse driver stability.

Better contrast and blacks, reportedly ips has better colour accuracy although I can't confirm any of these claims from personal experience because I've never had an ips monitor.
>most vas on amazon seem super cheap.
What do you define as "cheap", old office VA monitors are less than 100 dollars, but despite their beautiful quality they have lower response times and in turn more ghosting, I paid 450 euros for my 4k144Hz one and compared to my old monitor there is pretty much no ghosting whatsoever. Of course brands and monitors may vary, so it's better to read reviews before you make a decision, or make sure that you can return it if you don't like it.

I'm looking to buy a pcie wifi card, since my motherboard doesn't have it build in. Am I right that the only thing I really should be looking out for is that it has the intel AX210? After a while all of these parts are starting to look the same to me.

Initially, it had a problem where it'd crash randomly once a day just on its own, but then I think I changed a power setting or something, and it mostly stopped doing that, though it still rarely crashes in the morning betwween me turning it on and actually getting to using it. But the crashing during games issue has been a constant this whole time, that I've been dealing with by just playing games that don't crash it, but that's not fixing the problem obviously.

Besides, it wouldn't help you unless you feel like upgrading the mobo+RAM, because you're on AM4. How viable is a 9950X CPU and a RX 9070 XT for BOTH video/3D rendering (after effects, blender) and higher-end gaming? Is an X3D mandatory, or is it passable?

I don't need ray-tracing or anything crazy like that since most of the games I play are pretty low-end, but I would at least like to be able to do 4k.

I'm currently still gaming on a 1080 Ti and a 3.0 Ghz Ryzen 7 1700 (Don't know if it's X3D or not), that combo can run Doom Eternal at 60fps, medium settings, at 1080p. If I can at least match that (but in 4k), I'm happy.

drops to 11% at 1080p: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/18.html

then 7.5% at 1440p: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/19.html

and only 2% at 2160p: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/20.html

and all of that is with a 4090 which will smoke a 9070xt.

but it's all at max settings too, and no upscaling or framegen. basically worst case scenarios that most people aren't doing.

they also show minimums for 1080p and 2160p: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/21.html

and that reveals a 13.9% improvement at 1080p for the 98X3D, and 2.5% improvement at 2160p, in the 1% lows with a 4090 and max settings no upscaling/framegen, in newer games.

Yeah gaming CPU performance is supremely overblown.

Vast majority of the people buying X3D CPUs aren't really doing it because they will realize its performance, but because its much easier to buy the best gaming CPU than it is a GPU and people like feeling that they have the best of something.

well anybody who has a am4 x3d chip probably isn't upgrading. for normal people there are still benefits to upgrading. i looked at stuff comparing 5600x to 9600x for example, and the frametime graph is really stuttery and bad on the 5600x, so it seems like a more stable experience. IDK

if you go all in on 4K, CPU doesn't really matter. your FPS will be so low that 1% lows or w/e become irrelevent. a 5600x is 7fps slower than a 9800x3d. it's pretty pointless to talk about. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/21.html

you always have this >>105632059 though. random wildcards like factorio really like a huge cache

What's the difference between monitor scaling and GPU scaling? Also why do some monitors supposedly support "integer scaling" while others do not, isn't doubling pixels (for example, displaying a 1080p image on a 2160p monitor) easy as fuck to do? What would a monitor not supporting integer scaling do wrong in this case?

not understand what you're really talking about but

windows/linux are designed for 96ppi. so for example if you wanted a perfect hi-DPI experience, you'd want a 192ppi monitor

the following gets you as close as you can get to what software is designed for:

23.8" 1080p: 93ppi

32" 1440p: 93ppi

48" 2160p: 93ppi

there is no viable 2x integer scaled monitor available. 23.8" 2160p would have been it, but there's like $300 LG ud58p or something and it's just a 60hz IPS and probably aren't made anymore.

because windows uses vector scaling or w/e, this stuff isn't that big of a deal and you can probably use fractional scaling and not have much of a problem and therefore the best experience you can readily get currently is a 27" 2160p at 163ppi, so you'd have to use fractional scaling and cross your fingers there are no problems.

unlike VRAM, lower CPU performance is a thing.
if it's your first PC, min/maxing CPU/GPU fps bottleneck for overall or 4k even including monitor hz makes sense, otherwise just ball out

Undervolting can't cause any damage - worst case is it just crashes. AMD offers an auto-undervolt feature in their driver (on windows at least) which picks a fairly safe undervolt, though you can squeeze more if you hand tune. I don't know if such a feature exists for nvidia so assuming no for the moment you just do it the old school way - drop the voltage a little (say -10mv), run a stress test and see if it crashes. Keep going down in steps until it does crash and revert to last stable setting and done.

which is some dev for paradox talking about how CK3 performance is better with multi-threading and video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsMcG6aRr24

jesus christ
first, i posted two videos and second, watch video #2
>CPU Reviews, How Gamers Are Getting It Wrong (Short Version)
from 8:00 onwards.
they gave you a scenario where they took watch dogs legion (2020)
3090ti data with 5800x (nov 2020) and 5800x3d (apr 2022).
on 4k the 5800x already fell short in sep 2024 with warhammer
space marine 2 (sep 2024) (upscaled 99 vs 80 fps; 1% lows 86 vs 66
(whereas native max is 92 fps) and slightly less difference in
Starfield (yes i know) 2022 while the 5800x3d still had a little bit left

knowing this now, would you in 2023 july had bought the 5800x3d $300 or
the 5800x $220

Also watch out for AMDโ€™s army of Neanderthal social media accounts on reddit, forums and youtube, they will be singing their own praises as usual. Instead of focusing on real-world performance, AMDโ€™s marketers aim to dupe consumers with bankrolled headlines. The same tactics were used with the Radeon GPUs. Zen 4 needs to bring substantial IPC improvements for all workloads, rather than overpriced "3D" marketing gimmicks. New PC builders have little reason to look further than the 12600K which, at a fraction of the price, offers better all round performance in gaming, desktop and workstation applications. Users with an existing AM4 build should wait just a few more months for better performance at lower prices with Raptor Lake or even Zen 4. The marketers selling expensive โ€œ3Dโ€ upgrades today will quickly move onto Zen 4 (3D) leaving unfortunate buyers stuck on an overpriced,dead-end, platform.

Should I upgrade my 5900X to 9800X3D? My use case is playing in 4K, streaming with multiple Edge tabs open, and rendering videos.
I bought this and my motherboard back in 2021. I'm kind of tempted to upgrade to the 9800X3D because I've read some posts of 5900X owners who went with the upgrade, and they said their 1% lows were improved.
But that would mean replacing my motherboard and RAM.
Will the upgrade be worth it?

To speak frankly: the RX 9070 XT is utter crap for anything else but running games that were optimized specifically for RDNA4. It has no practical use and value because it has no CUDA cores. The 9950X however is just as good for production as the X3D variant and only slightly slower in gaming. Get a GeForce if you want to do anything productive with your GPU and save money on the CPU instead.

Every game runs 60+ FPS in 4k even with a 5070 Ti. We used to be happy in the 90s when a game ran at 40 FPS, this was considered playable.

Hopping onto the oled train, are oled safety/care features a meme or prolong monitor life significantly? Initially, I thought to drop the idea to get an oled because I spend about half time gaming, half time other stuff, is it worth to get an oled? I also got new gpu recently and need a gysnc monitor but could use my current monitor for regular stuff. I thought to just get Alienware AW2723DF and call it a day

Fitgirl repacked games run without starting up steam or EPIC or uplay or whatever other crap, they don't force/urge me to download their updates, I remain in control. I can install them anywhere without the need for a fast internet connection (say in a rural vacation home). Some games are overly expensive with all DLC included and DESU I rather wait 30 minutes for installation to complete than pay โ‚ฌ149+. Wouldn't you? And most games install much faster than Oblivion Remastered. This is a rather extreme example that I only used to demonstrate the difference in performance of 9950X3D vs 9800X3D.

I admit that I waited with the installation until lazy ASSRock finally published a BIOS that solved the problem. But the Nova is a bloody gorgeous masterpiece of mobo except for the fact that there are no Win10 drivers for it's Mediatek Wifi module. Luckily I rather use Powerline Ethernet anyway.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

There's no fake one it's just that WD sells two (or rather 3*) SATA SSDs under the same basic label. The original "WD Blue" from 2017, with, TLC NAND and onboard DRAM and the later "Blue SA510" which uses a DRAMless controller to cut costs.

*The third being an even earlier version with 2D NAND.

750-1000W ATX3.1. Should be pretty high-end but not crazy.

Should be mesh fronted, since you have a decent chunk of heat in there, but otherwise just go with what you like (needless to say it should fit all your components). IMO the Meshify 2 remains undefeated but there's plenty of good cases out there.

Are dual (or triple/quadruple) 3090 Titaniums worthwhile? I just feel that 4090 & 5090 are actually less powerful in general due to their perceived power coming from optimized hardware instead of raw horsepower... making 3090 the best all-around card available.
