XFCE is very inefficient garbage. Even KDE uses less resources.

it's actually really usable and looks really good once you tweak it a little. lxde on the other hand...

I had not even seen xfce until I ran this.

Kde is way better in my opinion, it just makes sense.

Its going good so far. Only thing I don't like is the filepicker for firefox.

Other than that its pretty much the same as windows.

perhaps you have looked into this already but you may be able to change file picker to something like KDE's, or even others. have a look at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Firefox#KDE_integration (3.5). Keep in mind that the package names e.g "xdg-desktop-portal" may be different on your linux so you'll have to google that shit

I don't think it's available on Mint (unless you compile it yourself I guess) but there's a patch for gtk3 and glib2 that lets you have thumbnails and an icon view in the file picker. I installed it on my distro a while ago and it's great

I'm born in 2005 and I use Devuan + Xfce4 for years already. Yet I don't think I'm killed. If it makes you happy, I also seldom update because all I need is Emacs. Maybe stop obsessing over Gen Z and make threads about actual technology?

Literally the only major(ish) DE still in development that doesn't break stuff between updates, only adds features. If you need something that stays the fuck there while not being super barebone shit xfce is the only answer... and, honestly, this is concerning.

>GTK3
You're still infected with the GNOME. Use LXQt if you want a desktop environment.

Uhhmmm akctually, GNOME is GTK4 now.

GTK2 was the last good version GTK3 and GTK4 are equally bad so it doesn't matter which GNOME uses.

gtk4 nautilus is dogshit, with its fat ugly fixed width sidebar
every other gtk4 app i've seen or tried has also been dogshit compared to gtk3

having said that, i don't really care. it's just a program launcher. i'm going all in with red hat.

Why do you need that bar at the top with that empty space at the middle and those icons on the bottom with that empty space at the sides?
Just to mimic Mac OS?
It baffles me, Windows 95 solved this shit 30 years ago
Anonymous No.105651464 [Report]
>>105651424
that's the neat thing, you don't need the bar at the top. or the dock. it's xfce, you can customize it heavily, which include removing either (or both) or those elements, resizing them, moving them somewhere else on the screen (yeah, while it's retarded, you could even put it right in the middle of your screen if you wanted to kek). it's just the default, but it's not GNOME, you can change it if you want
personally I kept the top bar because I like it but don't use the dock
