Vista introduced the security features, kept xp compatibility unlike 7 that even changed names to a part of the libraries to mess with user base

I'll be devils advocate and say that Vista was a very good OS, it was just too ahead of its time. The reason it had such a shit rep was because hardware manufacturers like Jewidia had god awful drivers, which resulted in public blaming Vista for all the crashes, which was obviously not its fault. Not to mention people thought (and still do) OS with high ram usage is somehow a fucking bad thing so when they saw Vista use more ram than XP it made them think it was more bloated.

The best part about Vista is the fact that people think 7 was the best Windows ever despite being nothing but a glorified service pack with a name change, Vista was misunderstood and got overly hated which is a shame because it really is the best looking OS ever. Fuck anybody who says otherwise, it had its issues of course but it's nowhere as bad as people made it out to be.

I liked vista at the time, people who disliked it did so due to memes of because they were poor and tried installing it on their dell shitbox with 512mb of ram and intel graphics

I wuv Vista. 7 felt like the real beginning of turning computing from something flexible to something accessible (although I suppose the argument for that could be made as far back as 95).

My PCs weren't shit, though, so that probably helps.

i went from xp -> 7 never used that shit. no one remembers the buggy mess it was.

The only thing I had trouble with in Vista that 7 cleared up was my laptop's fingerprint reader started working natively in 7 when Vista wouldn't pick it up.

Other than that it was a relatively transparent transition.

Vista worked on my new computer absolutely flawlessly. Never had a problem with the machine that built with Vista in mind. Some of my older machines that I put Vista on were wildly unstable, usually for reasons that were difficult to determine, but probably were driver related.
