It legitimately does have a combination of physical properties that are difficult to find in other materials, or if they are found in other materials (e.g. carbon nanotubes) they would be equivalently harmful as asbestos.
It's just being fucking shelf-stable turbocancer is legitimately a problem that's a dealbreaker in almost all situations. Like, we do use neurotoxins as fuels in rockets and shit, but those at least have the decency of breaking down into less harmful compounds when exposed to oxygen or UV light.
Asbestos is the "radioactive waste" of not-radioactive shit, up there with "all that arsenic we spread over France and the low countries during WW1 that will just never go away."

My family spent the better part of a year getting all the asbestos out of the house we bought. It was chrysotile asbestos. We reclad the place with VJ sheeting. Our country (Australia) has had asbestos completely banned from December 2003. I can't imagine building a new house and not knowing if the builder decided to cheap out.

Most of the outcry has been over controversial executive orders and executive orders repealing some of the executive orders from the Biden admin that were good/popular. There is a big, nasty bill working its way through Congress but it will likely be the only major legislation enacted during his presidency because of the filibuster and midterms.

Wet asbestos doesn't cause mesothelioma. The whole argument is stupid because mesothelioma can take decades to present after exposure so it makes perfect sense that there would "still" be cases from 9/11 appearing today. We probably haven't even hit peak 9/11 lung problems yet.

So, apparently, this only affects eight U.S. facilities that used asbestos diaphragms in the chlor-alkali sector for the manufacture of chlorine and sodium hydroxide.
I did some digging to see if this particular application of asbestos is dangerous or not:
https://www.propublica.org/article/asbestos-poisoning-chemical-plant-niagara-falls
tl;dr: It's supposed to be safe in theory but it is not safe in practice.

Pretty much this was one of the applications I think should be pretty common and safe and cheap. Of course you can use membranes too.
Using it for construction probably shouldn't be allowed.
I wish people were allowed to use common sense instead of "total" bans of useful materials.
Same bullshit as hexavalent chromium bans because some soldier carrying sacks of the thing for 10 years got cancer. In lab uses it's perfectly fine though.
Only obvious dangerous use-cases should be "banned". In principle breathing very fine dust of many things can use cancer, doesn't mean you have to ban all matter!
Even dumber is the DCM (CH2Cl2) ban, it's basically harmless.

>Chrysotile or white asbestos is the most commonly encountered form of asbestos, accounting for approximately 95% of the asbestos in the United States and a similar proportion in other countries. It is a soft, fibrous silicate mineral in the serpentine subgroup of phyllosilicates; as such, it is distinct from other asbestiform minerals in the amphibole group. Its idealized chemical formula is Mg34. The material has physical properties which make it desirable for inclusion in building materials, but poses serious health risks when dispersed into air and inhaled.

Sociological mindviruses fucked millenials. Must I remind you the millenial generation is the generation that founded the social justice movement that's now known as "woke" or some other retarded buzzword name? Blaming sex (you don't get any) and access to information on the internet for everything is boomer shit. Delusional.

cope is what you posted, anon. a long definition of what the material is. that has nothing to do with the fact that writing a sensational headline about how trump is reversing the ban on asbestos constitutes a lie.

>Asbestos is the "radioactive waste" of not-radioactive shit
Asbestos is a natural stone. You can throw it into a remote landfill and throw dirt on it and it's fine.
There were some scammers who recently promoted the idea that an asbestos landfill can be dangerous down the line, because of drinking water someone in a thousand years, who doesn't know that there was a landfill, might take from that area.
Funnily enough, there is not a single study about whether or not drinking asbestos is dangerous. The whole cancer shit comes from inhaling it, and it sticking around in your lungs.

I don't want to drink asbestos either, but i don't see why i should be concerned about it being thrown into a ditch and paved over.
It's nowhere as serious as actual hazardous or even radioactive waste.
