True. For as much as /g/ likes to rant about bloat in Windows, modern linux desktops are significantly worse in every aspect. There isn't even static linking for applications. UniGetUI is the best graphical package manager.

I personally use 10 right now because 11 24H2 is kind of buggy. Windows is the best desktop OS there is, which is why 95% of Steam users are on it. Linux killed it's chances with Wayland, it's a drama cult, development leads nowhere, it's all reinventing the wheel.

at work I made some Rust program and users aren't even warned when they SINGLE CLICK the exe in Edge's download list. It just runs.
do the same with some random .NET shitware? you get some scare ware screen about how evil and malicious it is. Windows is a fucking joke IMO full of competing and moronic corporate "needs."

Ah, that kinda sucks. I haven't played LoL in 2-3 years so I haven't noticed.

>>105651888
I was playing League in a web browser and it was surprisingly fine. Apparently there's now a native GeForce Now app for Linux (or at least Steam Deck) which might be slightly better.
I had a baseline ping of 70-100ms to leauge servers when running it natively. nVidia's machines only had a 15-20ms ping, while my ping to nVidia servers was around 40-60ms. So, in my case the overall lag was actually better than playing the game natively. But the input lag is clearly there (40-70ms in my case). If you don't have a shitty internet provider it will be much better.
I wouldn't recommend game streaming if you're into highly competitive gameplay. But, if you're in the bottom 80% of players or if you're playing casually then the input lag literally doesn't matter.

>>105651905
LoL and Dota are vastly different games despite being the same genre. Some people just prefer LoL (or are already financially and emotionally invested into it and/or have friends playing it).

you don't have to hunt it down, the windows general has links with hashes provided and it's no different than installing any other version of windows

it takes astronomically more effort to hunt down, install and configure a working Linux flavor and environment that doesn't have 2 year outdated packages, doesn't crash or have some bizarre problem every 2 days, or waiting 2 decades for some basic feature like thumbnails in the file picker

on top of that, there is zero guarantees software will bother supporting it either, especially since it's objectively out of support (for all CONSUMER USERS and MOST ENTERPRISE users)

some update or faggy new game will break Win10 LTSC and you'll see seething jeets on this board pissing and shitting themselves in rage over it.
Ironically I still think Win11 is a net improvement in subtle technical ways, but retards (read: most wincucks) have this obsession with never upgrading, until they do and pretend it was always good.

I know Linux nowadays is Fisher-Price distros that try to hide Linux's inherent complexities. I was referring to the Linux used by nonretards.

Software compatibility between Linux and Windows is full of trades and it is arguable that neither is really ahead of each other. I have had some software work better on Windows and some software work better on Linux. But that is talking about after you have already got it running. It is undeniable that software is generally harder to get running if it doesn't come out of the little GUI app stores that your distros for babies have.

Does it really? I had to move from Linux to Windows for work and I noticed when right-clicking on the desktop that there's a solid 500ms delay before it shows the popup menu. On KDE it's basically instant.

Also it drives me absolutely insane that you can't just sit down at the lock screen and start typing your password. You have to click or press a key first to show the password input (so if you just start typing, the first keypress gets swallowed). Isn't Microsoft supposed to have actual UX professionals to design these things?
