>>105651475 (OP)ok but can I do all that with my local LLM and gitea server?
>>105651486I want my body to work past 40 thanks
>>105651598>can I do all that with my local LLM and gitea server? No
Got an interview with FAGMAN in a few hours. Got it purely on merit. No connections. That 30 minute call is going to suck. Who the fuck goes straight into a technical interview?
> here's your interview with 2 people from the team
> the 2 people are reddit-esque tech nerds, technically competent, extraverted, but very obnoxious uptight and licking the company's ass in every possible way
Yeah I didn't get hired because they doubted my ''social demeanour''. Really odd reason considering I passed all the technical stuff. It's really odd when I have a guy bragging about being placed to clients at 150 euro an hour while he probably makes like 35 or 40 an hour at the consultancy. That's less than 1/3. Yet clients still expect someone exceptionally skilled for those rates. So you get the associated stress for a high hourly rate yet you gain none of the benefits.
>>105651755>Who the fuck goes straight into a technical interview?Competent companies
>>105651780Just from your post it's obvious why you didn't get it kek
>>10565159880% of the time you run into complete and poorly documented stuff or things that are inherent org knowledge. In that case you can dump as much prompts as you want but the end result won't be satisfactory. For the very easy grunt work jobs this will be a slaughter though since their easy tickets can be automated and done significantly faster.
This field is going down the shitter considering most jobs want you to have a gigantic tech stack + 3-5 years of experience at least. The junior jobs are being phased out. I don't even recommend going into this field anymore because all creativity is drying out of it and companies expect you to be familiar with 3-4 different cloud platforms and all their services, low code solutions, high code solutions, backend dev, devops practices, data engineering and analytics and so on and on. Tons of vacancies out there right now are 2-4 function profiles dumped into one thing. And then typically they also want a guy that ass kisses the company all the time.
>>105651802Yeah I suck at kissing ass. They need Indians for that. Company was entirely reddit tier whites anyway.
>>105651802>>105651844The ones diving straight into technicals just don't want to waste any time. They get a lot of applications and just want to make sure the technical skills are there. Typically the rest can sort itself out provided the candidate isn't a complete retard but that's what the interview with the manager is for.
>>105651755being indian is not merit.
>>105651855Anon. In the real world (i.e. outside your larp) you get an online assessment before you even talk to hr
>>105651899If everyone hasn't figured it out yet, the bare minimum now includes getting the stupid AWS certs. Management asked us to get AI and Cloud credentials recently.
>>105651940nobody cares about certs. Your fetish does not affect real life.
>>105651928I very rarely have gotten an online assessment. Only big tech does this because they get too many applicants and they need a filter that feels fairer than a recruiter picking out a few resumes to call.
The only times I've received online assessments were when I was junior but now that I have 4 years of experience on my belt I haven't received one (yet). It could also be because I don't apply to big tech. I'm also from the Netherlands and it might be a cultural difference I tend to avoid international vacancies. They rarely want a Dutch person for those, they prefer an eastern European that they could give lowest rate.
>>105651974I thought big tech was exactly what we were talking about though.
>>105651899thanks bare minimum anon! I'll do my best.
dude i've been playing tekken 8 wfh for the past day and a half
>>105651961They do. Org management can decide ''we need to upskill'' and then everyone needs to get a bunch of certs related to a cloud stack. Aside from that they really help you past a HR filter and they're especially useful at feigning competence at tooling you're not all that familiar with. They can be used to pivot into other areas of tech as you can pretend you did X for the company instead of Y.
>>105651940If they have me do it on company time that's fine by me, if they expect me to do that on my free time then the can make line to lick my ballsack.
>>105651823>companies expect you to be familiar with 3-4 different cloud platforms and all their services, low code solutions, high code solutions, backend dev, devops practices, data engineering and analytics and so on and onThis is what I noticed as well. I'm pulling 75 hour weeks between studying and working full time with about 1 day of rest each week just so I can move out of the shitty grunt work fast enough to not get replaced. I'm basically a slave at this point. I don't remember what the sun feels like.
>>105651527>RHEL AILol what even is this? I'd love to see how IBM manages to make "curl openai" insanely complex in a way that requires hiring consultants.
>>105652020>I'm pulling 75 hour weeks betweenI just ignore it.
Fucking give me a box with ssh when I ask and fuck off.
I'm starting to really get fucking mad at cold calls. It's always with my big boss and boss and it frustrates me because I try to explain shit then they'll cut me off and I'll be like alright you know what fuck this. I'll let you figure that shit up.
>>105652125im going to kill myself man, now they're exposing a gap and making it a huge deal like two years into operations.
>>105651552That's about as scary as the idea that they could hire West Africans as programmers.

>>105652203everyone's a fucking racist, why are people here making it their sole personality trait?

Because of that I also started a post graduate course in front end engineering to see if I can actually learn shit properly and be actually good at it. However it will take a little while before I finish it and I have been out of a job for a few months now, people are not even calling for interviews.

At that point you get raises and bonuses typically. By the 3rd round you are normally paid more than at fagman. Depending on what the execs plan you get bought out after that in the 100m to 1b range. To explain why Americans seethe about it: they tie their entire identity and way of life around a car, so they literally can't fathom a life without it.
In addition they get indoctrinated from small up and partially because of this identity, not having a car and using public transport means you're low class or borderline homeless to them.

>>105660613>>105660308kinda agree. when i was in yurop, public transit wasn't *that* good -- it was just that the density and layout of cities made it more convenient to get around IF public transit covered an area. but that was a big IF. though if you get to a train station, you can have a full and fulfilling day within 500m of that train station. This isn't as true in the us and canada because not only is stuff just further apart in general with more spacing between buildings, but commercial areas are more "evenly" distributed with having a shitty strip mall/commercial-industrial park every few dozen miles instead of a hyper-dense shopping and office district
but EVEN THEN some areas just fucking love cars. they could have euro-style areas and they will just still think of you as a poorfag if you don't have one. Quebec is like this -- very european style urban design and strong public transit, but everyone drives and yet taking the bus is reserved for students and the dangerously hungover. they just have such a strong car culture and love driving badly so much, and there are other common hobbies/interests/markets that basically require a car (e.g. if you have a strong hunting or camping culture, local agriculture, or lots of nice housing in small villages (also all very true in quumbic) you're not taking the fucking bus to the woods to go rape deer after buying fresh cheese from an 8th generation chinaman)

>>105661532I'm a junior who's as far from the "Should we use microservices or monoliths?" decision as you can get, why would you do one or the other? >>105661532Then your business case is probably just a single website + database table lmfao
>>105661583The problem with monoliths is that as they grow, they are responsible for more and more different functionslities.
While you can mitigate this in a classic downtime scenario by running a duplicate backup instance, it's still a shitton of issues, namely:
>scaling basically just looks like "run more instances of this god monolith" or beef up the specs, which might be inefficient as fuck if you need to dynamically scale a specific part of it>monolith = tight coupling = slower development and deployment by nature, it's easier to fuck up and break the entire thing, it's slower to bring out releases >hmmm we use xyz library for this what if we try this more efficient one instead and slowly migrat- OOOPS 2 years worth of refactoring "all or nothing" effort since once again, it's a monolithAnd so on and so on
>>105661505Even bigg techs are going back on muhcroservice crap nowadays pajeet
>>105661583That's a meme. First off, real world microservices are super highly interdependent. Anything goes down everything goes down. Algorithms like raft or paxos are ancient by now and allow smooth autofallbacks and rolling updates. They also make scaling up or down monoliths trivial.
Monoliths are also typically built in a modular fashion so not all systems need to run on all machines either.
The advantage to muhcroservices that were shilled were that they were supposed to be independent allowing self-contained modifications by one team without the need to sync across teams..First, that never happens in practice, actually the opposite: since it's 10x harder to do integration tests in this setting shit breaks all the time and it's common for muhcroservice A to require version X of service B but for service C to need version Y causing rolling dependency failures, with no good mechanism to track any of that. Second, you don't need full org syncs for monoliths if you have proper tests and use version control. If anything, it encourages a model with stronger consistency guarantees.

>>105661829>Monoliths are also typically built in a modular fashion so not all systems need to run on all machines either.Anon... that's not a monolith then
>>105661583don't listen to this guy
>>105661653 he drank the koolaid and/or benefit from adding accidental complexity to systems. A monolith is not more and not less coupled than uservices hence SOA. It is a deployment strategy. You can use the exact same interfaces between services without adding a network call between them and starting to have distributed problems for absolutely no reason whatsoever. In the current year your work machine probably has more power than servers had available back then. You can scale individual resources just fine without throwing k8s, containers and a dedicated team of ""devops''' '''engineers"' at the problem, yes, you can even use heterogeneous PLs if you so wish. The use case for uservices is extremely niche if we ignore resume driven development and other meta for a second and even when it makes sense, the retards just start making everything into a separate service
>>105654684Amen.
Literally just got off from a two year software dev job where it was mostly a .NET shop with a ton of backend devs that were either Indian H1B's or dumb Zoomers addicted to Steam slop.
I am not impressed. Modern web dev sucks and will suck out your soul.
All for some bald fuck business owner to never care to improve the state of working conditions, let alone provide incentives for promotions.
Literally got a higher paying job rigging up API integrations instead. Dev is a joke.
Biggest tip of all, move where there are jobs and apply to hybrid or in person. Remote is gone my friends.
>>105654988Look up literally any tech website resume project. There are tons of examples of this, Anon.
>>105661873Have a present anon.
>>105662115Sorry forgot to clarify. I FUCKING QUIT haha.
Felt good. I got another job literally a month later.
Was looking for a replacement job for a year and a half while doing that soulless job too since I realize how terrible the company was 6 months in. Should have quit sooner imo.
That industry is a complete joke my friends.
>>105661886Yes it is. The specific of the architecture of a monoloth is orthogonal to the system being monolithic or muhcroservices. Illustrative (?) example: some microservices are modular and some are not. Point is this is a totally different organization level.
