Whatโs the best smart glasses available with good mic and live transcription feature up to $300?
>>105659410Ignore the other anon, you don't need a super expensive airbrush (3 figures). Gravity feed cup airbrushes are generally much better than suction feed bottle airbrushes despite the latter's convenience. Get the Neoeco sj83 and not one of the other Neoeco's. Look for a compressor, quiet if possible, is an expensive. Some other airbrushes came with a mini compressor which worked fine for an airbrush. I've used cheap airbrushes and cheap spray guns on my car. Shit works fine when you learn it, I'd just start at the sj83 as a high quality budget baseline. Airbrush paints are cheap unless you're using them in high volume.

WD-40 is just a heavier fractional distillate of hydrocarbons. The idea is to hit it with the most volatile stuff you can that won't melt plastics so it breaks up the crud and then evaporates. That's why some also include a little alcohol in them.

bc that unit for example has the same kind of rotary switch that one of my portable ones, and you can buy 20000 counts ones easily
>watch movement has been sitting at us customs for 2 weeks
>>105674364>Wanted an oscilloscope, tooDon't get one of these cheap handheld ones. They are all awful and often have a much lower analog bandwidth than what they claim to have. If you only work with audio-frequency circuits, they are fine, but otherwise, save some money and get yourself something from a reputable manufacturer.
Is there something like a cheap chinkshit knockoff of those wireless headphones like bose QC or sony XM series? I don't even care about noise canceling, I just need wireless headphones that are comfy to wear all day.
>>105674370>yah so. cheap tweezers are typically just okNo, they are not. The fine point tweezers donโt line up or grip well at the tip when you need them to, they are being called precision tools for a reason
>>105674422Yeah, a cheap oscilloscope seems pointless for sure. That and a nice benchtop power supply are in my future. Might go for ebay parts power supplies and repair, have to look around later.
>>105674364> but they're a bit too expensiveI think you can get a basic one for about 30 Euro.
>>105674401I would get one if I had a dedicated workdesk so it's just always there, in reach. This particular one isn't too expensive compared to handheld 20000 count ones (80 Euro or so) and comes with a USB -- you can stream real time data to your PC. One without that and fancy thyristor measuring capabilities would be around 59, even closer to a handheld one -- and you pay it mostly for convenience.
>>105674497>basic oscilloscope for 30 eurosure, but I can imagine myself becoming frustrated with a basic one, and wanting to buy a nicer one later. same with the power supply. so I'll wait and buy nice ones later, so I don't have the cheap ones around collecting dust.
>>105674628That is fair, I only do electronics occasionally, so a basic multimeter and scope were more than good enough for me. Same for a bench power supply. All I'm asking is that it can stay in 12-20V range.

>>105674445>benchtop power supplyI have one of these cheap 30V/10A power supplies that are available for cheap from Aliexpress (mine looks like a rebranded Longwei PS-3010DF), and I was surprised to see that it can actually deliver its rated power. I've taken it apart, and the build quality is not great, but acceptable. The hand-soldered joints don't look pretty, but they provide a solid connection, and everything else is either wave soldered (for the big through-hole parts) or reflow soldered (for the SMD components on the top side of the main board). The output has a lot of ripple at higher voltages, but you can reduce it significantly by putting a film capacitor (or a ceramic capacitor ig you want to, anything with a low ESR and a low ESL should do it) in parallel with the output. The constant current mode works well at higher currents, but it's no very accurate at lower currents, so I wouldn't trust it to power an LED without a current-limiting resistor. The design is a bit surprising. The main adjustable rail is provided by a 2-switch forward topology circuit, which is driven by an SG3525 PWM controller through a gate-drive transformer from the secondary side. The SG3525 is powered by a small auxiliary flyback power supply. There is also a USB port on the front which is powered from yet another flyback power supply. The LED displays that show the measurements are driven by a Nuvoton 8051 microcontroller. I haven't tried dumping the firmware, but I doubt that I could since readback potection is probably enabled. One thing that I found quite perplexing about the design is that each power supply has its own primary side bridge rectifier and high-voltage capacitor even though they could have been shared. I'm honestly not sure why they chose to design it like this. It's almost as is the designer just took a bunch of reference designs and stitched them together without really understanding them.

>>105665610I bought a chink projector about 2 years ago and I've since gave it away to a friend of mine, but it was actually pretty good, paid about $100 for it I think.
There's a few things you need to be careful of. When you look at resolutions, they almost always have the scam "resolution" which is actually just that the projector OS can display that resolution, but you need to look for "optical resolution" almost all the projectors on Ali that are cheap will be low resolutions, commonly 360p and a handful of 720p ones. I'd avoid the very very low res ones (the cheapest ones) and aim for at least 720p.
Projectors in general have very noisy fans and little chinkshit projectors are no exception and they'll have a loud fan for sure. This doesn't seem like an issue but if you use the internal speaker (which is shit, but can get you by), fan noise is actually rather important.
As for portability, I'm guessing you're looking for one with a battery. The one I got plugged into a barrel jack and I don't know much about the truly portable ones, but I'd be very very wary. I'm sure the battery powered ones are junk with very dim bulbs and very low resolution.
By and large, you get what you pay for and getting a cheap one will be e-waste quality.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea, it's a cool idea, just be very very careful reading the ads on AliExpress.

>>105685641...
Just get the 6v rated bulb.
It's the same shit.
>>105685641What are you using it on that outputs 6V AC, a dynamo light?
Anyway, just look for one that says something like "non-polarity." Which should be easy to find at 6V because old lantern flashlights (dunno about e10) were center negative.
>>105685583There's no guaranteed way to get refunds, although you usually will get one. 'It didn't arrive' actually seems less credible than 'it was damaged / incomplete / not what I ordered, here's a photo'. However, in most cases of non-delivery the refund is automatic. It's only if the item is shown as delivered when it wasn't (i.e. their system logged it as being put into the bag, but it somehow wasn't, and then you recieved the bag by registered delivery or whatever). If you think that happened, it's worth checking the bag carefully; I've missed small packages jammed into the corners before now.

Some stuff arrived.
>Radio (5.79โฌ / I paid 4.86โฌ)
I expected it to be a lot worse desu. It gets pretty loud, it's nicely sized, relatively light and supports SW.
Reception is not amazing for SW, but that's to be expected with the small antenna. A positive aspect I didn't expect is that the battery is removable - it has a simple to open battery compartment sized for a AA battery at the end. However it doesn't work off AA batteries, as it needs a 3.7V li-ion cell in there. Still, the fact that it's easy to replace and you can carry a spare is great.
For my usecase (weather forecasts while hiking) it's great, and the SW reception is fun to listen in on and try to find weird transmissions.
>Cheap watch (2.20โฌ / I paid 1.84โฌ)
Very pleasantly surprised by this one. I have much better watches, but nothing you could wear for a slightly more formal occasion - my other watches have either too thick cases or too many complications. This one looks elegant from afar, is thin (7mm) and light. The strap is what really drags it down making it look cheap, so replace that ASAP and you've got an acceptable dress watch.
>Veggie Julienne peeler (0.99โฌ I paid 0.84โฌ)
It seems like it'll work. Nothing fancy, but neither is the price, so I'm happy.
>very thin double sided tape (0.75โฌ)
It's tape.
>>105689185Note on the watch though, replacing the battery will be a pain as I don't see any easy way to remove the back. Bit of a shame.
>>105689203If is a snap caseback (simple flat back), just find a hinge and open it with a knife.

>>105689246I suspect that's what it is, but it had no hinge or indent where you're supposed to seat it.

A lot of smart bulbs and other smart stuff aren't even ESP32 anymore, but use Beken chips instead.

https://github.com/openshwprojects/OpenBK7231T_App
The problem with either is that many bulbs ship with firmware that can no longer be patched OTA. Meaning you have to actually open it up and attach serial lines to flash it. That's usually hard to do non-destructively on a smart bulb.

Anyone buy anything from ebay and have it come in from China yet?
Whats the tariff deal?
>>105689185i had a peeler like that and it fell apart on potatoes.
A while back when the US tariffs were first announced, I decided to splurge and bought two TPE dolls. I expected these to be the last things I purchased from Ali so I wanted to get something audacious.
I've had them for a few weeks now, and while they are rather cheap feeling, I'm satisfied. They're cute, soft, squishy and are fun to dress up and have around. The pink haired one has a proper sturdy skeleton while the white one had a bendy wire armeture, thus it can't stand up properly. I have that one sit on the bed with my plushies. Both dolls have vinyl heads, which I figure is cost cutting measure. Still cute tho.
>>105691252You're in luck, I have a pair of grey ones a friend gifted me, i'm no expert but they do genuinely block off a lot of sound even without the ANC on, but with it you're going to be ignoring annoying niggers blasting their music or going off beside you just fine (also canceling the subway noise), only problem is if you have ANC on and you're in a bumpy ride the sound starts stuttering, don't ask how I know

>>105696387>>105696499Also forgot to add, about the stuttering, if you're in a very bumpy environment (physically jumping up or down a lot) like a shitty paved road or something like that the audio will be intermittent with the ANC, to be fair it only happened to me once and it was fixed by turning it off, hasn't happened ever since though even when going through the same place again, but I feel like you should know

I was looking for a hot air gun/station for like a third of the price
Do I need a station or can I just get some sort of heat gun if I only do basic babby soldering?
>>105699412you don't need an expensive one, if it gets hot and blows air you're ready to go.
moderate temperature/air speed by moving it further away or putting it on/off the thing you're trying to heat.
t. has successfully depopulated boards with the cheapest dogshit plastic heatgun they have (it was $7).
heat is heat, if you just need it for one thing there's no reason to pay for air speed/temp control.
>>105699412>basic babby solderingYou don't need a hot air station at all, just:
- soldering iron,
- solder,
- solder wick,
- and maybe some bluetac to hold your work in the orientation you want.
I think a hot air station might be useful if the components you're dealing with suck away a lot of heat, and so you need to get them up to temperature so your soldering iron can handle them.
Might also be useful for soldering a lot of surface mount components at once, but not sure.
>>105699506>bluetac to hold your work in the orientation you wantNTA, but this is very smart, I will be using this in future. Thanks anon!
I might do it with my bluedio t7s. I love these fucking headphones for my desktop. I'm not an audiophile, but here's my reasoning
- I wanted wireless headphones so I can walk away during vidya loading screens to make a cup of tea or food or whatever, and still listen to my friends yammering on d*scord
- Wanted good battery life
- Comfortable to wear for long periods of time
- Mostly aluminium construction, so they feel solid
and this next one is a small one, but possibly the best one
- The on-off switch is a switch not a button. I don't have to hold down to turn it on and off, I just flick the switch.
That is severely underrated and nothing fucking does it. When I'm done, I take them off, flick the switch and chuck them on my desk. I don't have to wait 2 seconds holding the button waiting for "power off".
All bluetooth headphones should do this shit.
The heartbreaking thing is that the one speaker has died in my home pair. Also their QC is trash and they do this weird thing that some bluetooth headphones seem to do, where if it's very very low volume and there's no sound for a second or so, they'll go into this kinda hybrid-sleep mode, where they don't play any sound until it hits a certain volume. There's a workaround, you just play something constantly at 20hz and they don't do it, but it's a crapshoot whether or not it happens.
It's unironically worth it for the on-off switch though.
so anyone know any cheap type-c soldering irons?
>>105699923Pinecil from pine64.com, will run you less w/ delivery and customs than anything equivalent on Ali. Grab the silicone cable while you're at it, and if you want to, a set of tips and the PinePower power supply.

>>105700020>it's a metal stick with wires going into ktIf you think it's that simple and you're this much of a cheapskate then make it yourself. Take a metal stick and shove wires into it.
>>105700032that's literally what I've used for decades.
it cost I think 1$ at a local electric market.
I just thought I could go for something more modern, and since I have 67w chargers i could use that.
I don't see why it needs to cost 25 bucks.
>>105699506>You don't need a hot air station at allI do I think.
See, I was replacing an analogue stick on a controller. It took me ages and I tried every combination of wick, solder pump and shit I could think of and it just wouldn't come out as one piece. Shit took me so long and eventually I just broken the analogue stick in pieces. They're notoriously difficult to take out without that.
I want to replace another analogue, but I don't want to go through the same hassle. Even though I could just break it I guess, it seems like a hot air gun would just come in handy for now and for any time in future.
>>105699485Thanks. What's the cheap end without being dogshit? I checked Amazon and it seems ot all be chinese brands anyway.
I don't know if I need the whole station or just a gun would be OK
>>105700054>I don't see why it needs to cost 25 bucks.-adjustable temperature
-replaceable tips
-QoL features like sleep mode, lift-to-wake etc
-way more power than 8W of those 8-10โฌ ones
Like, if you think it's all useless bloat and should cost as much as your piece of metal with wires attached to it then just stick with it. Nice things cost money. USB-C soldering irons are nice things. The Pinecil is still the best bang for the buck.
>>105700123adjustable temperature is cents worth of a component.
replaceable tips is not difficult either but I had one with one top for decades and i just filed it to the shape I liked and that was enough for me.
power isn't hard either.
that sleep mode is cool but I don't see the use for it, am I going to leave it plugged in while not doing anything?
I really see no reason for it to cost that much.
>>105700147>I really see no reason for it to cost that much.Okay then, how much do you think a USB-C soldering iron should cost then?
>>105700179around 6 bucks seems reasonable. bit more if it has accessories included. I don't think id pay more than 12. maybe 15 if it was a really complete package with tips, cable case, stand, solder etc.

>>105700072just search for heat gun and sort by price, it's the shitty looking stick with a red clear plastic tip. it's basically the cheapest heat gun money can buy.
also a tip for desoldering analogue sticks, add leaded solder to all the solder joints before you do anything and make them bigger. then get a bendable piece of copper wire or steel wire and cut/bend it to a shape that makes contact with all the solder joints and then heat the piece of wire to melt all the pads at once. grey dots in the pic are the pads and the black line is the piece of wire, heat the wire with your soldering iron.

>>105700054Anon get the slop you planned on, don't listen to us, and then if you're miserable because your soldering iron fucking sucks ass or breaks within a month, and you're ready to have a conversation, come back.
I got my Goot soldering iron 2 years ago for $49.99
- made in japan
-120w
-heat up to 665ยฐF in 15s
-adjustable temperature
-lower than $10 for extremely durable replaceable tips
-QoL features like sleep mode, lift-to-wake, etc
-auto shut-down
-every single part of it is available, so if anything goes wrong, I can fix it myself
My first dumb iron was also from Goot and it just works, for more than 30 years
>>105701498No anon you don't get it, he cracked the code and everything is basically free so 50 cents is the max he's willing to spend just because he can't get it for free, which he should because it costs nothing to make a USB-C soldering iron.

>>105702058I've gone through zero tips. what would ever happen to it? I filed it to a shape that I liked and that's as it. it was always wetted since then. it's just a stick of copper.
>>105702076Ok, so you rarely use it, if that's the case, then you can cheap out as much as you want to
If you have to use it weekly, heat and oxidation will eat your uncoated tip up so fucking fast to the point it just break in half, unironically
>>105702057>do you have some components to recommend then? You said that it's not complicated so I assume you have all the knowledge needed to make one. It's just a stick with a wire, and all you want is USB-C on it to push power into it. Not complicated at all, you'd be able to make one yourself faster than you would get a recommendation for a $2 soldering iron or however low you want to go.
>cheap but goodNote that "cheap" doesn't mean "less than the sum of the components used to make it". If your target is $6 for a USB-C soldering iron to pair with a 67W charger and you refuse to get the Pinecil as it's "too expensive", then don't be surprised when people mock you if you're looking for something that doesn't exists.
A wire on a stick may work if you're slamming 120/230V of raw AC into a bulky metal rod that costs $1 total, but not when you're trying to convert DC transferred by USB-C via PD into a much smaller metal rod, assuming we want to do it the right way and not use USB-C only to transfer the 5V/1.5A of legacy USB power that's the cheaper way to go, but by which point whichever fast charging charger ceases to matter as you'll be delivering the same amount of power with a 10 year old basic USB charger and a USB-A>USB-C cable.
Come back when you've gotten some realistic expectations about how much shit actually costs. You want something that can actually use your 67W charger to do actual work? Get a Pinecil.
>>105702117I've used it a lot and often. it was always silver from the solder.
I might have filed it once or twice over the years but that's probably cause I wanted to solder something very small.
I don't know why you're so upset about this. is this buyers remorse or something?
I have literally also a soldering iron from my grandfather that's older than me and it still works and the tip is still not too bad if you clean the Schmutz off it. but the cable on it was cloth covered and very frayed so I thought I'd leave it as an antique.
>>105702163so, once again you're getting buthurt over the point of the thread, which is to share cheap good things to buy off AliExpress and such.
so I should never post and just research everything myself, and when I do, never share my findings because apparently you'll get upset by it.
>doesn't existexcept it does and was already posted.
and you're not going to seriously imply that any of those components don't cost cents.
the most expensive part of the whole thing would be the wire and the copper rod. the least technologically complex components there are.
I already have type-c pd and qc triggers from other projects, all is need is a heating element, a rod and a casing, since some of the triggers actually just plain have a button to switch which voltage they request, I wouldn't even need to build any "complicated" temperature control probably.
and that cost me I think 50ยข. I also have a little 2-40v voltmeter display modules for the same price if I wanted to be fancy.
there's no need to be upset.
>>105701893You can do it anon
You too, can become a dropshipper!
>>105701945a vape is just a battery(with charge circuit) a button and a heating element, really.
even more complex than soldering iron which is a copper rod, wire, and a heating element.
>>105702294I remember years ago you had to use a lot of translators for it so I never tried.

>>105702259>and you're not going to seriously imply that any of those components don't cost cents. And you're not going to seriously imply that just because the sum of those components costs cents means that you should be able to get a device like that for cents. You are familiar with concepts such as profit margins, man-hours and operational costs, right? Right?
>>105702313I've seen some reviews of that kind of iron. They repurposed them without reprogramming them first, you can only pass power through them for 5-7 seconds at a time, shit's a scam, really
>>105701337>heat the wire with your soldering iron.>it's genuinely easier than a heat gun because you have to kapton tape off other board components so they don't melt. But I did this as well anon. i tried everything.
The only issue was is the copper wire I had wasn't very thick. It was a thinner piece. Any thicker ones you'd recommend on Ali?
With the really shitty cheap heat guns on Ali I'm just worried about safety because I know chinese devices can completely lack safety features and I'm too dumb to check myself
>>105702313and some vapes actually deliver a lot of power, and use high current cells for those clouds, so why would that even be something to be shocked by like it's not the most direct and easy conversion in the world you can do?
you just swap the tiny coil for a less tiny rod and there you go.
you only have to worry about heat going back into the battery and overheating it.
>>105702345picrelated.
we are in a thread dealing with whole culture of undercutting and selling things dirt cheap, the fact that they do sell dirt cheap should tell you how little the components actually cost.
it's absolutely nothing. and even AliExpress marks things up a lot compared to what the manufacturer actually pays.
how are you so out of touch and consummerist-braintarded that you're going to use that as an argument?
I think you're probably trolling on which case 10/10 you really got me.
>>105702360probably cause those capes in the pic are basically almost single use disposable and are made really to be thrown away.
but a lot of people actually build electronics out of those, power banks even, imagine that.
but even if you can only use it for 5 seconds, you just have to have a thin enough stick with fitting resistance so it heats up fast. I can totally see it being usable as a mcguver solution.
I mean I've boiled water with a razor blades and mains so it's nothing new to me.
>>105702418>how are you so out of touch and consummerist-braintarded that you're going to use that as an argument?I'm not the one looking for a USB-C soldering iron for $6 and getting flabbergasted when it turns out it costs more than that if it uses legacy USB power, and even more than that if it uses USB-PD which anon's charger he wanted to pair it with would have. And if he already has all the components needed to make one, and the knowledge to make one, then there's zero point in him posting here, asking what to get if he can make one himself for even less.
There's "looking for a bargain", and then there's "being an ignorant retard". You're not getting a USB-C PD soldering iron for $6, and if you say that you want something that's on USB-C that you want to pair with a 67W charger, then don't be shocked when someone recommends you a USB-PD soldering iron that, surprise surprise, costs more than the $6 5W/1.5A one. And don't forget the cost of assembly, plastic molding and everything else that has to be recouped from selling even the cheapest soldering iron possible.
As for
>picrelatedI assumed I was in a thread where people know how the world works and know that some stuff will have a minimum price bracket, not in a thread full of Dunning-Kruger retards that think they've cracked the code by reading up on how much a single transistor costs and then behave like picrel when something costs more than the sum of the components.
the difference between vapes and soldering irons is people buy a new vape every month/week and a soldering iron lasts years.
>>105702506I just don't want to make one, I've been through it already and don't need to prove myself to anyone. though maybe it would be fun.
I'm just not going to be paying more than a couple times more than it should cost, depending on how long it would take me to make it myself and if I need it soon, which I don't. that's how I've lived my life, and I'm not gonna change it any time soon.
>plastic moldpennies, not even. because they pump them out in millions and have a mold already.
>assemblychild labor is pretty cheap
>I assumed I was in a thread where people know how the world works and know that some stuff will have a minimum price bracketyou love in a really weird and different world from mine.
in mine, I've been doing the same thing for decades with things from clothes to phones to I don't know what, with same logic and was never disappointed.
so i really don't know what you're doing, maybe you just have a massive skill issue with either picking out good products or making something yourself.
I think it's safe to say that we've cracked the code when we've been applying these principles for a good decade or more here. not sure what you've been doing other than just consooming.
again, why are you so upset? you want to buy a fancy premium thing, good for you, maybe I would too if I cared less and wasn't as principles but I just don't feel like it's worth the money for what it is.
I get wanting a tool that lasts you a lifetime, but again, even the simplest soldering iron will last you a lifetime, I literally have one older than me to prove it. not on hand, unfortunately but it was pretty wacky. looked like a pistol with a trigger. could probably pass it off as a starwars blaster.
>>105702418No anon, I'm not going to waste $3 on a single-use soldering iron
>>105702511nothing to do with the actual vapes probably, given they aren't disposable and not made too shit so it dries it's own components(which can be also solved dirt cheap by a thermal relay), the only thing that wears out are the coils and the battery, which should be easy to replace.
people just turned it into a consumerist hobby like a lot of things.

>>105702645>in mine, I've been doing the same thing for decades with things from clothes to phones to I don't know what, with same logic and was never disappointed.Which still begs the question: why even bother asking here if you've already cracked the code of life. You know that everything is turbo cheap. You've been buying turbo cheap things all your life and you were never disappointed. Why ask? Are you hesitant in your way of living? Maybe you've already decided on your purchase and you're looking for some validation?
You're simultaneously confident in your logic that such a soldering iron should be cheap because you could make one yourself, but at the same time doubtful enough to get any cheap one off of Ali blind since it's all the same and asking for recommendations.

and it doesn't have to be more complicated than this. not sure about that flimsy tip though.
>>105702818Its generally agreed upon that by intent you are paying PER supply chain link away from the source. This matters for parts, or wholesale products.
But this gets very interesting when a large factory in Chezch republic makes parts for automobiles, and one set of the supply line go to the regional OEM distribution, then to the OEM importer national of your host country, and then its sold to you. Or you buy the same part from the same factory at a distribution who buys it from the factory, very often at fraction or even less.
What is fascinating isn't that it is so. It is that we as end consumers can to some degree access this data, part numbers, and even negotiate to buy a shipping crate from somewhere in China.
>>105702748speaking of this shit, same shoes that cost 160 euro in a specialized shop cost 50 euro on Amazon, 2p euro on AliExpress branded, 10 euro same thing but unbranded, probably less than half on taobao or alibaba, and if youd buy it from the factory physically directly I don't even know cheap it would be.
it's a silly retard tax to ever buy something so overpriced for no reason.
>>105702868>it doesn't have to be more complicated than this>not sure about that flimsy tip thoughYeah, doesn't have to be more complicated than this... Do you see why some things cost more, and why sometimes you want to pay a little bit extra instead of digging for the lowest price?

A common, good recommendation. So no, this thread isn't "literally" what you're saying it is.
The reason I went on this tirade is because the anon that asked for the soldering iron had to put some smug condescending comment about how it's just "a rod with wires" instead of saying "nah I just need something for occasional use, doesn't have to be fancy". Next time, try not to act like a smug cunt that broke out of the Matrix, be precise about what it is that you're looking for exactly, and if

You want a good USB-C soldering iron? A Pinecil is one.
You want a rod with wires in it? Make it yourself.
You want the cheapest, good enough USB-C soldering iron and you don't need any temperature control, replaceable tips or anything of that sorts? Then start off your question this way.
>>105703245where's the flip flopping? all those things are cheap.

No one is going to give you a recommendation when you can't tell what exact type of USB-C soldering iron you're looking for, or if you're not looking for once since you can make one yourself, as otherwise those "rod with wires" comments would be unnecessary.
>>105703384>I've already found one example and posted itSo you do admit that your question was pointless since you'd find one yourself then?

It happens once in a while
But the premise remains the same: Automobiles are only cheaper in the USA than the EU due economies of scale, disregarding the PPT difference that is going to be eaten by health/education/unemployment.
The wonderful oil guzzling petroeconomy enables things that might unironically be lost if globalism hunkers down for a few decades. And Transistors is on that list, its not that hard to do the large kind, but the cutting edge is currently on a scale where its not possible to hand fudge together a competing product, unlike say paying 20-50x more for higher end tech that can be handcrafted but not industrially priced.... which is worth it for satellites due LEO costs.
Some silicon blasted with lasers is currently worth a lot, because the feature creep means its only possible to create competing legacy products.
All while we are paying a lot to walk around with supercomputers in our pockets.
