I have a Thinkpad x250 with only one DDR3 ram slot stuck and upgrading past 8GB of ram would cost more than a better laptop. It isn't enough. You need 16GB just for web browsing on a normal OS. I found 16GB not enough to do that on Qubes.

you could do that on 8gb RAM no problem.and if you upgraded to 128gb of ram on that same machine doing the same stuff your system would use more too, Windows preloads stuff and tries to predict what you're gonna do to work faster
