If you go to #mpv on librea.chat there is a massive autistic faggot in the channel that will defend wayland for hours upon hours. He parrots all the usual FreeDesktop talking points about Xorg and won't shut the fuck up. It's really funny.

You don't even have to poke him or post bait. If you simply ask for help with mpv and say you're using it on X he flies into an incoherent rage no matter what time or day or night it is.

are you stupid?
op is a post from mpv help
the non decoration clearly is context specific to mpv, i.e.: [my issue is that running mpv inside] gnome wayland has no server side decorations.
if you read a little further you can see some extra flags for mpv to get around the issue, showing indeed the context is as an issue a user may experience with mpv in this situation.

you shouldn't just read something before you reply to it, you should also take a second to try and understand it too.

I did not use any extra flags to "get around" that issue. This issue simply does not exist.
mpv tranny purposefully disabled GNOME SSD only to cry for attention on his github.
The statement "GNOME wayland has not server side decorations" is factually untrue.
If it can work for Handbrake, it can work for mpv
If it can work for VLC it can work for mpv
Zero excuses, stop throwing temper tantrum.

i have seen hundreds of posts like

https://reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/1l7i2n9/wofi_on_gnome/ is just 2 weeks old
i always get a good laugh out of such posts
rofi will unironically run fine on gnome on xwayland
you will need to install the wayland fork of rofi to make it not work on gnome
the problem with xwayland is that anytime some applies fractional scaling on their display xwayland apps get blurry as fuck
maybe gnome fixed it now like kde did but it is probably a secret hidden gsetting as usual

You faggots will make Wayland as a whole deprecate it by using it for shit like drop down terminals. It was made for compositors to get shell shit support not for random third parties to add bullshit to your desktop. >Gnome has nothing to do with this they said they don't care from the start because extensions do that for them and abstained.
There is a comment from Matthias Claisen specificially saying that he doesn't want the layer shell protocol on GNOME because he doesn't want users the ability to use 3rd party panels and docks on GNOME. You are not bullshitting anyone.

For any normies reading this...This means you cannot use, for example, rofi-wayland on GNOME because GNOME decided to "gimp" their compositor. Extensions cannot fix this. No more customization for you. No, you cannot use that sexy rofi config you saw on that one Unixporn post. Because GNOME devs specifically made sure that what you are trying to do could not be done. Yes this was done out of spite.
