Shills are lying in the thread now and trying to trick anons with smartphone comparisons using new phones vs older models and comparing their "flagships" to a mid tier. They do this, because that's the only way they can feel better about a cheapo tech device and the only way the garbage phones they are shilling can win the comparisons. These poors really will do anything to scam and lie to us. Don't trust anyone shilling phones with false information.
This is a market strategy the paid shills are using. All Poco posts are not natural, I can confirm this now.

2 questions:
First, for those of you who have a secondary phone, what do you use it for? I’m thinking about getting a second, Android phone (I have an iPhone), but I’m still struggling to find a real use case for the purchase.
And second, looking at the list of (currently) supported devices on the LineageOS website, the Mi 11 Lite looks like the best deal just based off the specs and age. Should I get that or do you guys think/know something better. It can’t be a pixel because google doesn’t sell them in my cuntry

Before I had the OnePlus 12, I bring both the Pixel 7a and my Stylus 5G everywhere I go. The Stylus would be the main phone where I put all of my music and stuff and it would be my primary entertainment device. But the Pixel 7a would be the phone I use to call and take pictures and use it for work (work WhatsApp and whatnot). I don't put them all on one device because I don't want all of that shit causing reloadings all over the place. Both phones only have 8GB of RAM, and Stylus has dogshit cameras, so they both had their place in my life.

Stylus also had monster battery life. I'd use it across a 12 hour shift and get home with 56% battery and 4 hours of screen on time. The Pixel would have been dead before lunchbreak if not for literally using battery bypass to keep it attached to a 10k mah power bank all day.

No? My Pixel 7a has very few apps on it. It's just camera app, Google Maps, Chrome, Brave, and WhatsApp. It has a few defined jobs that it does very well, like taking high quality pictures in all lighting scenarios. Most of everything else is on my Stylus, and I mostly just use my Stylus with the Pixel on hotspot mode.

What's a good replacement for an S23U?
I've broken my screen for the 3rd time and I think it might be time to get something new.

Things I'm looking for:

I've had my Galaxy A25 for about a week now, coming from a Galaxy M30 that I used for 6 years, and man... the jumps from 4GB of RAM to 8GB of RAM, having 256GB of storage instead of 64GB, while also having the micro SD slot if I need more, the classic headphone jack, 120Hz refresh rate... for the price? It's a steal, also loving One UI 7.0 so far. Any downsides? Well, nothing major, I find the waterdrop notch and thick bezels with the chin on the bottom to look dated, but that's just a purely aesthetic nitpick I'll admit, one more thing is that the proccessor isn't too good, Exynos in general isn't great from what I hear, but it works well really.

It's a shame that after this one, the only Samsung lineup with a headphone jack and micro SD slot might be the Galaxy A0 series.

I have a Xiaomi Poco F3 which has LineageOS installed to remove the Xiaomi bloatware, which I strictly use for outside. No social media, no banking apps, no logged accounts, or any personal data or information that ties that phone to me. I use a PAYG SIM card loaded for text, calls, and emergencies like looking up directions on Google Maps. Why? I realised that I don't need to stay connected to the internet 24/7, and the places I need to be at such as my home and the gym etc. have WiFi, so I don't need to pay extra. In the case where my phone gets stolen or lost, I don't care as much as it's a cheap second hand phone with nothing important in it. Also, I realised that a LOT of people effectively digitalised their life on a phone - having their bank accounts connected, all their personal information, photos and videos etc. on a single tiny device that, if lost or stolen, can cause serious pain to their world.

This is the best phone and probably the best computer I’ve ever used (iPhone 15 Pro Max).

After using it for 6 months the only problem was that I wanted a bigger screen for watching videos. I own a desktop for personal/work use and have a work laptop for general tasks.

I need to update my phone from an iPhone 12 mini and I want to get out of the Apple ecosystem, but I don't have any experience with non iOS phones.
I mainly just use my phone for reading news articles and music, I'm mainly looking for a smaller, midrange "it just works" model that feels nice and will last as long as possible.
Seems Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel models are best for what I'm looking for, maybe there are some Chinese models that offer better specs but I don't know is it's annoying to fuck around with chinkOS? I don't really know how much those models and their form of Android variant software differ from stock Android though.
I can get the Samsung Galaxy S24 for $700 (AUD, which is $450 USD) and the Google Pixel 8a for about the same price, which sounds better for what I'd want?
Seems the Samsung Galaxy S24 is better performance wise, but I have no interest in playing games and I don't know if that performance is really going to translate to better news browsing and other low demand tasks. I'm worried it is going to be bogged down in unnecessary bloat and bullshit, but then Google might have the exact same issue?

I'm sitting in my car with open windows under the 36 degree sun, and my phone is running at about 40C battery temp without me doing anything in particular AND having battery saver on. Hell that 36C air temp is probably measured in the shade, so it might be over 40 in the car right now.

Yeah. Opening up Messenger or Discord to text someone is sluggish, the apps take a bit to load. Keyboard lags a bit when it pops up when I tap a text field. Loading web pages is slower than on my main phone Galaxy S23. Just general usage of the UI is not nearly as smooth as a modern phone.
Keep in mind this is a somewhat powerful semi-flagship phone from late 2017, so it's actually got a more powerful chip than budget/midrangers up to 2019-2020 or so.
