Is it feasible to move the mouse and keyboard to the front of the main monitor according to the activity you are going to perform?
For example, during work I would stay centered on my main monitor, but for gaming, I would move the chair, keyboard and mouse to the secondary monitor.
I've never seen anyone do anything like it, so I assume there's some problem with using the PC like that, and people end up putting together different set ups or something?

Kingston KC3000 is reliable, there are better specced NVMe drives though.
>Not only are the Kingston KC3000 line of drives the most common ones used in our workstations in 2024, with many thousands sold, but their reliability was also exceptional. Their overall failure rate was just a tiny 0.08% (or 1 in 1,250), and only a single drive had issues in the field!

SK Hynix makes DDR5 memory chips (ICs) that overclock higher while stably keeping timings lower compared to other chip manufacturers like Samsung and Micron.

CL32 6400MT/s is better, but you may have to downclock it to 6000MT/s and adjust the primary timings to 30-40-40-96 if your CPU's memory controller can't run it at 1:1 memory speed: memory controller mode (MEMCLK : UCLK = 3200MHz: 3200Mhz).

If you have a hard time understanding this, ask some Russian PC hardware forums.
There are plenty of Russian-speaking PC hardware enthusiasts.

I'm seeing a listing for an extremely cheap 3070 that blackscreens when installing drivers, owner hasn't taken it to repairs, what could be the most probable causes? faulty IC GPU, faulty VRMs, or wrong BIOS? my theory is the board uses a very low-power setting without drivers, but could it be the BIOS or some retarded shit like a smudged contactors or bad pcie socket installation?

Video games it turns out can make a lot of use for extra CPU cache.
Funny thing is Nvidia tried to argue the same for GPU cache but it didn't have nearly as much of an impact compared to CPU cache and nvidia was mostly using it to justify using smaller bus widths and lowering bandwidths

ASRock Z790 Steel Legend WiFi or Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX are the more reasonably discounted boards here.
You might need to update the BIOS version through a flashback (or similar feature) before the board can work with 14th-generation CPUs.
You want to update the BIOS to the latest stable version to protect the CPU.

Bought a Steel Legeng 9070XT.
Edge temperature is just 61ΒΊC and the memory temperatures are actually very cool at 78ΒΊC. I'm worried about the hotspot because it sometimes hits 95ΒΊC and that's a huge delta. It's often around 90-92ΒΊC. Should I send it back? Bought it on Amazon so it's no big deal. I could replace it for the Gigabyte Gaming OC or the ASUS Prime. That's just how Radeon chips run, Steel Legend is fine.
AMD considered 110Β°C hot spot temp for the 7900 XTX's GPU to be running within specs.
There's no standard as to how these chip designers place the thermal sensors on the GPUs.

If you're still worried, I'd probably trade it for the Prime. Gaming OC might have thermal gels that slip out if you vertically mount it.

I meant NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel all have different ideas of where to place their thermal sensors inside their processors.
You can't make a meaningful comparison out of an RTX 40 card reporting 80Β°C hotspot to a Radeon GPU hotspot reporting 90Β°C.

NVIDIA hid the hotspot sensor for RTX 50 chips probably because they changed the sensor location to report hotter temperatures, and people would freak out about the difference compared to older cards.

>>105685218
I'd keep that Steel Legend if you're happy with it.
Their official spec/dimensions claim Steel Legend is a 2.9 slot card while the Prime is a 2.5 slotter.
Usually, the thicker card should have a larger heatsink and help the card run quieter.
But some manufacturers just use a big plastic shroud to hide the actual thickness of the heat sink.

The screen says it will also do this while PC is "idle" but I don't know exactly what it counts as idle because I don't really feel comfortable leaving my screen on while I"m not using it because you know, burnin and all that shit.
I warned you through the oled shit list but nobody listens, there is a reason MSI is king of oled shit list, atleast they increased the refresh timer to 24 hours. but there still should be an "off" setting that only does pixel refreshes when the monitor is off or manually.

what counts as idle = I guess when the display is off standby/no signal, however, as firmware is buggy and how windows acts it all depends if it will trigger or not.

air coolers are just exceedingly simple in how they work which is a major benefit for reliability
water cooling allows you to take the heat from the CPU die area and move it far away but this is irrelevant to 90% of users, and then you obviously have to deal with a pump that will fail some 5-10 years down the line
if you're at that age where no longer all that excited about hardware, chances are the performance benefits aren't worth having to keep an eye on how your CPU cooler is doing
pumps should also be somewhat audible but modern AIOs have probably taken steps to mitigate that

Go for an AIO, please. The average result when an AIO croaks is your CPU gets hot and throttles and you will know when it does. Just replace them every 3-5 years depending on quality. Do shop around and check if an AIO has reviews stating whether it works well with Intel or not, since the shape of their chips and hotspots differ significantly from AMD. Get used to one now and get some experience on what will work better for you in the future; eg. maybe you see your case does or does not have the space for a big fat Arctic radiator.

Most are "reliable" in that it is a binary state; either it's all good for years or it's a bad unit that will immediately show issues and should be replaced on warranty. All the commonly seen brands today will work, Thermalright and ID Cooling are examples of Taiwanese & Chinese brands that are dirt cheap yet set the industry baseline for performance. Arctic position their Liquid Freezers in the affordable range (depends on region) but have very high cooling perf because their radiators are overspec thick. My shithole of a country with oppressive sales tax had an amazing online PC store with reasonable prices, unimaginably wide product selection and impeccable customer service. I made several orders from them in the past months totalling around a 1000€, which is a fuckton of money here.
Turns out, the reasonable prices and wide selection were due to them evading sales tax and the tax agency raided them. This happened literally at most two weeks after my final order. I'm incredibly lucky, but also a damn shame.

I'm not only angry at the government for the insanely high sales tax, but also for outright stealing the money from customers who stuck with unfulfilled orders. The state always gets paid out first, while the taxpayer can get fucked and forgotten.

Remember kids, taxation is theft and the government is a mafia!

I've never been screwed by Pcpartpicker. All the parts fit (I've built 4 pc's now and none of them had a part that was too big), it tracks your total wattage, it constantly freaks out if you haven't picked a cpu fan yet, etc. Just be warned about motherboards and cpu's. Older mobo's can use newer cpu's if they are the same generation but the mobo would need to be updated and as a former first time pc builder that shit had me up the wall especially because the mobo wouldn't even post. So I'd suggest getting a mobo that released around your cpu of choice. If you can stretch your budget it's not wise to cheap out anywhere.

1. is there an easy way, like a one click .exe option for quickly switching my primary display AND disabling the other displays which aren't needed (e.g. when playing on tv, i disable my 1440p monitor and my secondary 1080p monitor at my desk)

2. when i change my main display between my 1440p and 4k displays, the desktop icons on the right side of my screen are always pushed inwards and cause my icon layout to get all fucked up and i manually have to reorganise it every single time switch main displays. i have a feeling it's related to the 4k tv having 150% zoom in windows, but without the zoom i can't read anything as all text is really small.

9070XT is fine for gaming if the price is reasonable and if you're willing to put up with Optiscaler to enable FSR4 on many of the unsupported games (if you care about upscaling).

The competition is a joke, so NVIDIA is incentivized to drip-feed generational gains.
It's more profitable to target 10~20% gains every generation if they can get away with it.

About 15% improvement from the 4070 Ti Super and nearly 30% from the 4070 Ti is really all NVIDIA needed to do.
The $50 discount was rather surprising and caught AMD off guard too.

You'll be wasting money if you buy one of those and will have to upgrade very shortly anyway which means spending more money, because these old cards don't have RT acceleration or some of the newer features like the titan x doesn't support VRS iirc. A lot of games have mandatory RT nowadays and even RDNA 3 cards suffer pretty bad because of it and that's just one gen old. You'll need at minimum a 20 series GPU or RDNA 4. I'd recommend just saving a bit more money and getting a 3060 12gb which is the bare minimum for games nowadays.

If you want to use the kits at their advertised speed at timing, it's safer to buy a new kit (2x 16GB).
A set made by the same brand with the same speed & timings might be using a different memory chip (Samsung, Hynix, Micron, etc.)

This Flare 2x 8GB kit matches all those specs, but it's not worth the potential headache.

Back in the late 2010s, there was a need for NVIDIA's workstation GPUs to have Tensor cores (for AI training & inference) and RT cores.
They don't design a gaming-exclusive GPU, GeForce chips are just reconfigured from multi-purpose GPUs.
So NVIDIA had to introduce new gaming graphics features that justified the Ray Tracing and Tensor cores they added with Turing GPUs (RTX 20).

Real-time ray tracing makes use of those RT cores but is very hardware-demanding to run.
NVIDIA developed DLSS that uses the Tensor cores to improve performance by upscaling graphics from a lower internal resolution.

RAM speed and timing, I kept trying over the years with different motherboard updates to try and get my RAM to run at 3200mhz properly, as it's supposed to be able to (when overclocked though), with zero success. It would just crash upon restart.

It's the same reason why TVs have motion smoothing. Most people don't like the judder at low framerates like 24 fps movies or if you're playing at sub 60 fps it'll smooth it out by generating more frames for a visually mode fluid experience. Not everyone will like it but it's a nice feature to have. I use lossless scaling with GTA 4 because it has a hard 60 fps cap or the game physics start fucking up but with frame gen from 60 to 120 fps it provides a significantly visually smoother experience on my 4k 144hz display. But the results will vary game per game and person by person.

DLSS super resolution and DLSS frame gen aren't the same thing. Super resolution is tech to generate larger output resolutions from smaller internal resolutions, and in the case of DLSS 4 it's 99% identical to native, but because you're running lower resolutions internally you get higher fps, less power draw and cooler thermals. Frame gen is generating fake frames in between real frames to make a more fluid experience but it's still relatively new tech in gaming so not every implementation of it will be the same. DLSS 4 super res is pretty much universally excellent and in some cases provides superior image clarity compared to native if a game uses TAA for anti aliasing which introduces a blur to the image, which DLSS 4 super res overrides and adds some sharpening.
