I need a TLC M.2 SSD that won't die on me ever - what are my options currently?
>>105683782I mean it's nearly 50% off it's launch price and still very good at non-gaming CPU workloads. It's not a crazy idea anymore if gaming isn't your focus.

If that's your budget, it is what it is.
I don't know if this is the right thread,but...
Is it feasible to move the mouse and keyboard to the front of the main monitor according to the activity you are going to perform?
For example, during work I would stay centered on my main monitor, but for gaming, I would move the chair, keyboard and mouse to the secondary monitor.
I've never seen anyone do anything like it, so I assume there's some problem with using the PC like that, and people end up putting together different set ups or something?
>>105683816Moving stuff around on your desk sounds entirely feasible.

>>105683862SK Hynix makes DDR5 memory chips (ICs) that overclock higher while stably keeping timings lower compared to other chip manufacturers like Samsung and Micron.
CL32 6400MT/s is better, but you may have to downclock it to 6000MT/s and adjust the primary timings to 30-40-40-96 if your CPU's memory controller can't run it at 1:1 memory speed: memory controller mode (MEMCLK : UCLK = 3200MHz: 3200Mhz).
If you have a hard time understanding this, ask some Russian PC hardware forums.
There are plenty of Russian-speaking PC hardware enthusiasts.
After weeks of slowing working through all the various different suggestions, I think I finally found the setting I needed to change to stop my 5070 build to stop randomly blackscreening.
I'm seeing a listing for an extremely cheap 3070 that blackscreens when installing drivers, owner hasn't taken it to repairs, what could be the most probable causes? faulty IC GPU, faulty VRMs, or wrong BIOS? my theory is the board uses a very low-power setting without drivers, but could it be the BIOS or some retarded shit like a smudged contactors or bad pcie socket installation?

ASRock Z790 Steel Legend WiFi or Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX are the more reasonably discounted boards here.
You might need to update the BIOS version through a flashback (or similar feature) before the board can work with 14th-generation CPUs.
You want to update the BIOS to the latest stable version to protect the CPU.
https://community.intel.com/t5/Blogs/Tech-Innovation/Client/Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-Desktop-Instability-Root-Cause/post/1633446
I'd consider Ryzen 7700X or 9700X for better efficiency under load.
Bought a Steel Legeng 9070XT.
Edge temperature is just 61ยบC and the memory temperatures are actually very cool at 78ยบC. I'm worried about the hotspot because it sometimes hits 95ยบC and that's a huge delta. It's often around 90-92ยบC. Should I send it back? Bought it on Amazon so it's no big deal. I could replace it for the Gigabyte Gaming OC or the ASUS Prime. Every other model is over 100โฌ the MSRP so fuck that.
>Had to refund my 7500F from aliexpress because it was stuck in transit after 45+ days from Cainiao
is cainiao this dogshit? how the fuck is it THIS SLOW? i have bought so much shit from ali before and now of all times its slow as fuck.
Recommend me other Aliexpress stores where the shipping doesnt shit the bed, Im looking to buy either Ryzen 7500F or 7700 for my Asrock B650M-HDV/M.2 (that is now collecting dust because i have to wait even longer now)
>>105685117Thank you, Iโll look into those boards and the bios updates.
>I'd consider Ryzen 7700X or 9700X for better efficiency under load. Why the heck is everyone recommending AMD and then I compare the two and intel is almost the same if not better?
>>105685174That's the risk you take going this route regardless. Whether it's worth it is up to you but you'll keep getting a similar experience with other stores.
>>105685155That's just how Radeon chips run, Steel Legend is fine.
AMD considered 110ยฐC hot spot temp for the 7900 XTX's GPU to be running within specs.
There's no standard as to how these chip designers place the thermal sensors on the GPUs.
If you're still worried, I'd probably trade it for the Prime. Gaming OC might have thermal gels that slip out if you vertically mount it.
>>105685213>If you're still worried, I'd probably trade it for the Prime.Do you think it's better? The Steel Legend spins at 2000RPM but it's suprisingly quiet.
>>105685197it is worth it for me, i would buy from my local stores but for the 7500F and 7700 in my country is paying about 80 to 120$ extra for some dumb reason. so im tempted to buy only from aliexpress and use the rest of the saved money on getting better ram sticks
>>105685213>There's no standard as to how these chip designers place the thermal sensorsI thought the sensor was AMD's doing, no the partners.
>>105685184It's about the power efficiency, you will feel that extra heat when the 14700K is running near full load.
User benchmark is run by a crazy schizo who is anti-AMD.
the temps on my AIO cooler are primo but I can hear the water sloshing around in it every few minutes and it's driving me insane
>>105685184I dont know if you are new into this or baiting, but do not use userbenchmark for comparison or anything at all. Its ran by an Anti-AMD retard that even intel laughs at at the shit he comes up with.
>>105685259>even intel laughs at at the shit he comes up with.Source please
>>105685229I meant NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel all have different ideas of where to place their thermal sensors inside their processors.
You can't make a meaningful comparison out of an RTX 40 card reporting 80ยฐC hotspot to a Radeon GPU hotspot reporting 90ยฐC.
NVIDIA hid the hotspot sensor for RTX 50 chips probably because they changed the sensor location to report hotter temperatures, and people would freak out about the difference compared to older cards.
>>105685218I'd keep that Steel Legend if you're happy with it.
Their official spec/dimensions claim Steel Legend is a 2.9 slot card while the Prime is a 2.5 slotter.
Usually, the thicker card should have a larger heatsink and help the card run quieter.
But some manufacturers just use a big plastic shroud to hide the actual thickness of the heat sink.
>>105685242>>105685259hmm ok, thatโs too bad. Iโm still not sure what cpu to buy but at least I know that source is biased (I did a โnet search and verified your claims)
>>105685213>>105685229>>105685307one thing to note is that amd sensors are either really precise or their chiplets rapid cooldown compared to intel/nvidia. like under load it may be 90-100c but as soon as the load stops it instantly drops to like 60-70c in 2-3 seconds.

water cooling allows you to take the heat from the CPU die area and move it far away but this is irrelevant to 90% of users, and then you obviously have to deal with a pump that will fail some 5-10 years down the line
if you're at that age where no longer all that excited about hardware, chances are the performance benefits aren't worth having to keep an eye on how your CPU cooler is doing
pumps should also be somewhat audible but modern AIOs have probably taken steps to mitigate that

>>105687477Nvidia undoubtedly has driver woes now but it only happens to some setups and not others. E.g. It's unlikely to happen if your nephew uses one monitor and avoids enabling dlss4 frame gen in the settings meny (rarely turned on by default)
>>105687477When going for the choice of CPU, consider the 9600 over the other because it leaves room for a drop-in upgrade in the future. I am doubtful that a 12 year old is playing at a competitive level where X3D cache would make a difference.
>>105687558A big air cooler would be fine but you'd want an AIO for OC. However, 1: there's not much OC headroom on these chips and 2: there's some chance an AIO will die before you get around to overclocking it.
>>105687558>hot Intel mid-high end chip, 250W max loadGo for an AIO, please. The average result when an AIO croaks is your CPU gets hot and throttles and you will know when it does. My shithole of a country with oppressive sales tax had an amazing online PC store with reasonable prices, unimaginably wide product selection and impeccable customer service. I made several orders from them in the past months totalling around a 1000โฌ, which is a fuckton of money here.
Turns out, the reasonable prices and wide selection were due to them evading sales tax and the tax agency raided them. This happened literally at most two weeks after my final order. I'm incredibly lucky, but also a damn shame.
I'm not only angry at the government for the insanely high sales tax, but also for outright stealing the money from customers who stuck with unfulfilled orders. The state always gets paid out first, while the taxpayer can get fucked and forgotten.

2. when i change my main display between my 1440p and 4k displays, the desktop icons on the right side of my screen are always pushed inwards and cause my icon layout to get all fucked up and i manually have to reorganise it every single time switch main displays. i have a feeling it's related to the 4k tv having 150% zoom in windows, but without the zoom i can't read anything as all text is really small.

How is this legal? I don't think it makes a difference but they are literally lying about it.

What if in the end it doesn't get the NVIDIA stamp? Then they just sold me a false promise
>>105691789The competition is a joke, so NVIDIA is incentivized to drip-feed generational gains.
It's more profitable to target 10~20% gains every generation if they can get away with it.
About 15% improvement from the 4070 Ti Super and nearly 30% from the 4070 Ti is really all NVIDIA needed to do.

Hey guys
I'm trying to find the best GPU for the money, budget is 100 euro, I'm torn between a Rx 5700 xt and a gtx Titan X pascal (like a gtx 1080 ti)
>>105692133The answer is to earn & save more money.
>>105691887amd competes with nvidia just fine.
nvidia doesn't care about gamers because they're making 1000x the profits from professional.
>>105692155No, they don't.
That's why AMD had to offer a "Launch Price" discount for the 9070XT.
Because it can't compete "just fine".
This Project Redstone some people are excited about improves RT & Frame Generation, yet only nine games support Anti-Lag 2 which is needed to smoothly play with FG enabled.
>>105692133There's a reason those cards are cheap. RDNA1 had hardware/driver issues and Pascal has seen 3 mining crazes. If you don't mind some maintenance work then I'd say get the Titan but otherwise you should either save more or lower your performance target.
>>105692185how can so many games be console first and AMD developed but then not support AMD's free open source tech
>>105692208B650M D3HP or the B650 Gaming X AX depending on how many M.2 and SATA/USB slots you need.
>>105692187>>105692144 This is just some trash box 200 euro build for my gf or me when I'm over there currently theres a Vega 56 in there but felt like a good upgrade for the 25e i need to chime in after i sell the Vega
>>105692133You'll be wasting money if you buy one of those and will have to upgrade very shortly anyway which means spending more money, because these old cards don't have RT acceleration or some of the newer features like the titan x doesn't support VRS iirc. A lot of games have mandatory RT nowadays and even RDNA 3 cards suffer pretty bad because of it and that's just one gen old. You'll need at minimum a 20 series GPU or RDNA 4. I'd recommend just saving a bit more money and getting a 3060 12gb which is the bare minimum for games nowadays.
>>105692208from those seller percentages I'd only trust Byte Depot and at least they showed you what's in the actual box
>>105692125Thanks that was the first thing I did when my monitor arrived
>>105692231Because it costs money to add these new features to old titles that are past their major profit potential.
It's not worth assigning programmers to add Anti Lag 2 support for the small subset of Radeon card owners that will play games with Radeon's frame generation.
That's the Redstone some of you guys are hyping up (RT lighting resource reduction, Ray Reconstruction, & Frame Generation).
>>105692287Then why does AMD develop it
>>105692262The G-Sync indicator appears on my FreeSync Premium Pro monitor when I run any games or benchmarks.
>>105692297They're hoping the games currently in development will support those features at launch.
>>105692242I get the point, but the best i can find is a 2060 6gb and even then it's probably more like 120, 20 euro might be the value of a happy meal but it's a 20% increase in price and 6 piss gb of vram
This machine won't be doing much besides sims and maybe some slop of the week
>>105692343A 2060 6gb will be way less of a headache than those other choices
I have a build from circa 2016-17 that is starting to struggle even just with desktop duties. My RAM usage is a big problem, so I want to get to 32gb total.
I can buy another two sticks of it for about $30-80 depending on how reputable the source. It seems like a better idea than replacing the RAM with new stuff entirely.
I also have a Ryzen 2600x that I was given that I have yet to plug into it, to replace my 1600x. Not a big upgrade but it was free.
I would also like to get an NVME SSD but I have no idea how those work, I've lost almost all my tech literacy after becoming an adult.
Mobo: MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON
RAM: G.Skill Flare X 16gb (2x 8gb) 3200mhz CL16
Is DLSS what I've been hearing about fake frames and what is the actual purpose? When I move quickly it looks better without so why would I turn it on.
I guess it's made for PC builds where they can't run the game fluid anyway? Maybe then it will actually look better
>>105692490If you want to use the kits at their advertised speed at timing, it's safer to buy a new kit (2x 16GB).
A set made by the same brand with the same speed & timings might be using a different memory chip (Samsung, Hynix, Micron, etc.)
This Flare 2x 8GB kit matches all those specs, but it's not worth the potential headache.
https://www.ebay.com/p/6033525113
Buy one of these kits, I'm more familiar with Team Group than the other brand but it shouldn't matter too much.

>>105692552Back in the late 2010s, there was a need for NVIDIA's workstation GPUs to have Tensor cores (for AI training & inference) and RT cores.
They don't design a gaming-exclusive GPU, GeForce chips are just reconfigured from multi-purpose GPUs.
So NVIDIA had to introduce new gaming graphics features that justified the Ray Tracing and Tensor cores they added with Turing GPUs (RTX 20).
Real-time ray tracing makes use of those RT cores but is very hardware-demanding to run.
NVIDIA developed DLSS that uses the Tensor cores to improve performance by upscaling graphics from a lower internal resolution.
>>105692574I confirmed what my RAM was last night, so I know I'd be getting the same stuff.
RAM speed and timing, I kept trying over the years with different motherboard updates to try and get my RAM to run at 3200mhz properly, as it's supposed to be able to (when overclocked though), with zero success. It would just crash upon restart.
I'm also partial to this, because it frees up my limited budget for getting 2tb SSD > 1tb SSD sooner rather than later.
>>105691726>Probably an RX 6600 or an affordable used card, but performance might be badly affected if it has to run on Gen 3x 8.What about an intel B580, would I run compatibility issues?
>>105692552It's the same reason why TVs have motion smoothing. Most people don't like the judder at low framerates like 24 fps movies or if you're playing at sub 60 fps it'll smooth it out by generating more frames for a visually mode fluid experience. Not everyone will like it but it's a nice feature to have. I use lossless scaling with GTA 4 because it has a hard 60 fps cap or the game physics start fucking up but with frame gen from 60 to 120 fps it provides a significantly visually smoother experience on my 4k 144hz display. But the results will vary game per game and person by person.
>>105692650B580 performance might also be affected because it goes from Gen 4 x8 to G3 x8, I don't know by how much.
Worth a purchase and return it if you're not getting value for money.
They're both good GPUs, recommended the RX 6600 because you can probably find some affordable ones in the used market.
>>105692648>I kept trying over the years with different motherboard updates to try and get my RAM to run at 3200mhz properly, as it's supposed to be able to (when overclocked though), with zero success. It would just crash upon restart2600X probably won't give you any more luck than the 1600X
AMD did a major memory controller update with ryzen 3000
obviously, get the basics sorted out first, like making sure the sticks are in the right slots (your mobo should not be a limiting factor)
>>105692698They are in the right slots. I may be tech retarded now but I wasn't back then. I several friends look at it and they had no idea what was wrong with it, which is freaky.
I had thoughts about getting a 5000 series Ryzen, but I decided against it. I'm not opposed to buying something as they get older and more affordable though.
Anyway, other than luck of the draw with failures out of the box, is there any reason to spend way more on getting new RAM entirely over just doubling what I have with used stuff? If I'm 100% confirmed getting the exact same stuff there's no problem with speed, timing, and the chip, right?
>>105692647Based. Thank you for the lore update anon
>>105692652>But the results will vary game per game and person by person. To be fair I only tested it with one game so far (Hitman World of Assassination), so maybe it's also not good there, or just in combination with my settings, but when I turn it on and look around it looks blurry and the faster I go, the more stuttery it becomes. I'll have to try it in a scenario like what you described
>>105685882> PS4 gameOfcourse the game's built for 8GB.
>>105692738>I may be tech retarded now but I wasn't back then. I several friends look at it and they had no idea what was wrong with it, which is freaky.i'm saying it's a fairly typical situation for a 1600X
you can try 3000, 2933, 2866, etc
>is there any reason to spend way more on getting new RAM entirely over just doubling what I have with used stuff?4 sticks is even harder to run
>If I'm 100% confirmed getting the exact same stuffthat's not confirmed, like the other anon said two kits from the same brand don't necessarily use the same memory chips
>>105692739DLSS super resolution and DLSS frame gen aren't the same thing. Super resolution is tech to generate larger output resolutions from smaller internal resolutions, and in the case of DLSS 4 it's 99% identical to native, but because you're running lower resolutions internally you get higher fps, less power draw and cooler thermals. Frame gen is generating fake frames in between real frames to make a more fluid experience but it's still relatively new tech in gaming so not every implementation of it will be the same. DLSS 4 super res is pretty much universally excellent and in some cases provides superior image clarity compared to native if a game uses TAA for anti aliasing which introduces a blur to the image, which DLSS 4 super res overrides and adds some sharpening.
>>105691668Not at all, Iโm tuning up a dozen old pcs and selling the leftover parts
