How do you practice gen? I tried halving resolution but then going back with same prompt and seed to full res its too different.
Halving the steps is similar but 15->30 a lot of things change, does save time getting 80% of the prompt though

personally I like to at least see some styles that aren't just the default of a model. your pic looks like default Wai or similar, I encourage you to try some different artist tags and/or a model with more range

Is there a way to get the Wan outputs do be less oversharpened and fried? I've been just chucking image processing nodes and dropping the gamma/saturation and using an image blur node, but I feel like there's a better way to go about it. I'm using the workflow from the rentry (FusionX model, and RifleX), and CFG is at 1.0 in the adaptive guider so I don't think I can turn that down.
I can live with the contrast/saturation as I've already dialed in the values to fix that, but the crunchy oversharpening is killing me.

Simplify your prompt. To my knowledge, Illustrious doesn't do "score_" tags - that's a Pony thing. Throw out all the quality tags and only include what you really want to see in the positive prompt. Delete everything except the embedding from the negative prompt (also, has to be preprended with "embedding:" get the autocompletion script to make this easier).
Then, once you see your LoRA triggering, start adding back in quality tags and so on (if necessary).

I can see why they don't want to 'go there' but it is also a shame since one way to avoid the invevitable generalized look of 'man, woman' images when training for a long time, is to splinter in several celebrity names in combination to create unique looking people.

Kek, some anons actually think that Flux dev compares to Chroma. They also think Flux dev's photoreal tunes produce images that look realistic. Let's put the obvious blissfulness on Chroma's NSFW capabilities aside, imagine being so out of touch with reality you forget what a real photograph or even real life looks like.

I used to suffer from that condition chronically back when Flux dev was first released. I did not even notice that Flux dev had plastic skin until it was pointed out to me. Let's call it, the slop-syndrome. Chroma can cure it, but you need to have actual skill at prompting it. Getting sloppiness out of Chroma boils down to a skill issue.

Anyways, by going back to a decent gen you got in the past, it's easy to fall into the trap of comparing same settings and same seed and thinking it means anything. Actually, it doesn't. What matters is performance across different seeds. What's actually happening is that Chroma is adjusting its parameters slightly. I have plenty of gens that were perfect from v36 or v35 or v34 or v33 etc... That look like shit on v37 or v38 and so on. So what do I do to really see if it's gotten worse? I check other seeds, or if I want to stay on the same seed I take more steps. Also to prove or disprove I go back to the same old "good" model, I repeat the process of swapping seeds and taking more or less steps. You'd be surprise to learn that the same defects you are blaming on the newer version, was actually a defect on the older version all along. The model seemingly getting worse is just the model shifting the seed from what it was previously, and still not getting substantially better. Because desu the model is barely improving if at all. But the model is still just as capable as it was before, and you will get a good seed on the newer model.

95% of Chroma training has been at 512 resolution, that's bad for fine anatomy like fingers.

Also unless there is a distilled Chroma version, it will never have the same quality hands as Flux dev, since Flux dev 'cheats' by being trained on a small number of cherry picked synthetic hands which are easily readable, as in no weird overlapping fingers, weird perspectives on hands etc.

On the other hand you quickly start to recognize the same hands and poses recycled from a small pool over and over again when you gen with Flux dev.

Flux is also recycling styles, faces, etc... it is very much not very flexible.

Also since it is so limited and on top of that neutered, it is significantly worse at prompt following, like magnitudes worse. Chroma is like 10x better at prompt following, and it literally trades blows with API models that were untouched before in that aspect (e.g. Dalle 3, now more recently 4o and Gemini, Whisk, etc...) due to its uncensored nature.

It's not done yet, also Flux anatomy is so extremely limited, you could just train a Chroma lora with 300 poses and hand gestures and get the same effect.

In short, as a base model Chroma is more promising than anything else at the moment, it only loses to Flux in anatomy, which is due to Flux dev having overtrained on a small set of clear anatomical gestures/poses, unlike Flux however, Chroma knows of genitals and doesn't have deliberately mutilated nipples like Flux does.

It might not be due to a particular weakness. There are a lot of models nowadays and many of them have similar to overlapping capabilities. Flux just got adopted instead and it would be a lot of work to switch over making it not worth it unless there is a very clear unambiguous upgrade in doing so.

No, that was for Chroma. It tends to make anime esque results if you prompt random alphanumeric sequences, so I was wondering if the artist tags were hashed and it's picking up the tokens that way (it happens often enough). Other artstyles like oil paintings and impressionism have a tendency to show up. Since Astra's hardware was borrowed by Lodestone it's not out of the window he may have convinced him to hash the tags but this is only speculation.

It also kinda messed with the overall quality of the model though. If you compare chroma v26 with v38 the difference in quality is very noticeable.

The number one rule of finetuning an existing model is using a learning rate that's AS LOW AS POSSIBLE. When I used to train loras they always looked best at low values. A finetune won't converge properly with high learning rates.
