Anything backed by a corporation.
>b-but they put proffit over people
Yes, this is why they will make sure everything will work, even if it was written by Hitler himself.
A community-driven project will always put feelings before anything else.

I normally would recommend Ubuntu for beginners, but nowadays it's safe to go straight to Fedora.

For their enterprise customers. They could not give less a fuck if it sucks as a home desktop OS.
Coincidentally, this is also why modern Windows is a travesty.

Is it? The amount of terminal commands you have to paste to get media codecs working is truly schizophrenic even by Linux standards. On Ubuntu it's just a checkbox in the installer. Also newbies won't dislike snaps until they're told to because they don't take several seconds to open anymore.

>linux being a pain in the ass to use
first off, this has nothing to do with linux itself but the distribution you used
secondly, things have improved wildly in the last decade for linux:
-user friendliness, you most likely will never have to open the terminal to use ubuntu, fedora or mint. -compatibility with windows software, most games just run ootb now.

thats usually a bad idea, all guis are prone to breakage during upduuts, always use the terminal as god intended.

the problem about the terminal is that it's basically a black box where you enter magic commands
the linux gnu ecosystem needs to, and already has managed to a large extent, to make shit easily accessible to regular people. people that are too lazy to look up shit, people that don't know how their system works, people that never change the default settings, people that are terrified of the console...

nah even a noob should be comfortable with the terminal. even just asking an llm to spit out commands for them and sort of knowing what they do. thats the whole appeal of linux, shell scripting and being able to fiddle/run programs with pipes and command line arguments to streamline processes

>thats the whole appeal of linux,
now THAT explains why linux just doesnt work, its preoccupied iwth autists wanting to feel like epic haxormans rather than just making it usable and functional.

unrelated but why is ubuntu so buggy nowadays? i have an intel cpu, igpu, and wifi card yet that shit kept locking up and the "app store" (package manager wrapper) crashed every time i tried to use it. even that jeet shit zorin worked better.

It's 19. Plus some additional mouse clicks and keyboard strokes to get hardware acceleration actually working on Firefox. To get it to work on Chromium you need to straight up edit the desktop file. Insane shit I would never have this much gall.

Fedora KDE, Manjaro KDE, EndeavourOS KDE, or Mint. All of them will give you basically the same shit. In 2025 there's no such thing as a "beginner distro" because Linux just works now.

What exactly do you think terminals do, retard? You can run Linux programs and scripts by clicking them too.

GUI interaction enables the user to actually understand what they're doing and promotes better understanding over time. Copy/pasting commands into the terminal does not. I grew up with DOS so command line doesn't phase me but I don't get excited over it the way zoomers do.

Just use mint and paste commands from forums if something breakes

Be sure to get wine if you want to run any windows specific program
