First time linux user here.

I tried using linux, I can't use it anymore. I used mint, everything felt slower than windows. I got audio crackling in games, and in the file picker there's no grid thumbnails.

This shit is literally unusable compared to windows 10 LTSC.

Why did you install linux to begin with?
If you wanted to simply try it out of curiosity you can make a live usb stick with rufus or install mint in a vm, no need to physically install it on your drive. If you decided to install mint because of some hard issues you have with windows you can't stand anymore and you're going back to it at the first difficulties you stumble upon then eat shit i guess.

You cant fully experience linux on a usb drive.

You need a fast drive to test games, software, etc. USB 3.0 stick flash running at 60mb/s isn't fast enough

It's enough to test out hw incompatibilities, see the ins/outs of the systems, test the ux. If you're enticed enough from that you can then try to physically install the system, that's literally what i did 20 years ago.

Debian is a good option but the testing version is better if you're on desktop. I also recommend avoiding Wayland. Not even out of any drama just because it's more buggy in KDE.

its fragmented trash made by people in their free time that dont care about quality or creating a good user experience. if you want to sperg out for months learning and looking at a commandline, you might be able to cobble something together. you will be troubleshooting literally everything

whats even worse is that all these individual pieces of trash need to be updated. the kernel, all the individual bits and pieces of software. its literally a miracle this all manages to work. the only forseeable future is the systemd, wayland, pipewire, flatpak red hat one. at that point you might aswell use windows.

if you choose to avoid the spyware your machine will be reduced in functionality to point of being no better than an advanced text editor, calculator and browser. enjoy your freedoms and using gnu notepad

You learned a valuable lesson.
Just stick with Windows. I say that as someone who's used Linux for 15 years now, rediscovered Windows, and see it as superior in just about every way.
Linux is just about masturbating and thinking you're elite. But people who are really elite use their computers to get shit done.
And Linux fanboys are some of the biggest faggots on the internet. I never went that far, but, after a while, just seeing their comments is a never ending source of embarrassment as they're always lying and making excuses and spreading FUD in the most obnoxious ways possible.
The greatest service these people do is make people not want to use Linux.
