So did the AI hype die already? Not really getting AGI is around the corner vibes anymore

What do you mean? All the people who stand to profit the most from AI investments are still pushing it hard. Sure, that doesn't describe what the rest of the world thinks, but it never did.

AGI was never around the corner. It never will be. The only thing around the corner was saying AGI and obtaining billions of dollars in funding from companies that are still mad about missing the internet train.

Yeah it feels like it’s sputtering a little, but the religious believers still exist. My old boss, was once a genius level engineer. Top notch. Recently he quit his 20 year job to go work at a startup where he’s using cursor and windsurf. He was telling me our career is over and he’s trying to ride the last wave.
I tried them out and I’ve been fighting with them to write a simple query parser for custom GraphQL filters, and they just cannot get it right. At all.

I’m starting to realize he’s blown away because he’s been a manager and hasn’t really coded in 5 years. It’s snaring those who don’t know any better.

>I just don't feel like people are as interested in it anymore
normal people never were I think, my boomer parents still barely know it exists

I think this is the AI industry's fault for hyperfocusing on the needs of computer programmers instead of finding a way to make it useful for normgroids

If some kind of anti-AI voter backlash/crippling regulation occurs they'll only have themselves to blame for not bothering to cultivate broader appeal

i mean its okay, but its not at the point yet where its good. you still have to go to github and use python and pip install autism in the commandline. you still have to tinker tranny. there's no user friendly GUI. all the stable diffusion images come out as glitched garbage unless you spend 5 months of your time research loras and adjusting sliders and other bullshit. the local LLM models are kind of cool, but still they're not good enough yet. the coding ones look potentially pretty good to make quick programs...but again you need le epin GPU to do anything

a.i is only for autismos who code and use github and have a strong GPU atm

Let’s be honest, this was about trying to cut the cost of programmers by firing most or all of them, which does not look like it’s going to happen with LLMs. It was never an altruistic move, it was jew-ry

This is honestly the most likely outcome. We wouldn’t know how to evaluate a super intelligence. People are people. It would tell us stuff that disagreed with our current understanding of things, so we’d call it defective and ignore it.

the real answer is that they don't know what the fuck is going to actually come out of it but it seems like it'll benefit them anyway so they're going all in on it because there are other wealthy tards hyping it up so it must be great, right?
in the best case scenario they're expecting to have control over a super intelligence that is going to obey them and give them +1000 years of life and more power
and in the worst case scenario they're expecting to just replace a few grunts to get a 20% profit increase

They turned women into workers which necessitates importing people to keep the supply of slave labor up but that causes obvious problems and they can see the writing on the wall with regards to people eventually not believing there’s no problems simply because the media says there aren’t any

I think people are realising AI technology has quite limited use cases beyond cooming and shitposting. There are only a few instances I've seen where I thought 'oh, that's a good use for this technology' (eg. protein folding, medical imaging) and it doesn't really seem like we're anywhere near replacing any whole work force, this shit is way overhyped.

"AI hype" was just bunch of corporate cocksuckers doing their silly mating dance in front of investors and easily manipulated faggots like (you) and half of this thread.
Agi? Super Intelligence? Thinking machines? It's all fucking fantasy. Smoke and mirror kind of shit.
AI will have it's niche applications in industrial niches, but generalist model that is not retarded and useless will just never happen. There will be no Jarvis and no E-Waifu telling you that she loves you without losing context of discussion like some grandpa with dementia.
I know that in some USA cities they are using AI to scan photos from drones and satellites to search for hobo squats and illegal landfills. This is the kind of job where AI will be used. That's on what Saltman and rest of these faggots should focus, but they are greedy bastards roleplaying as some revolutionaries.

AI really has become the most retarded religion. It's a top down AI, so it's still just an NPC running on datasets. But there are people believe it's this all-knowing god that will bring us heaven on Earth.
