Desktop Linux is a meme.
Huge waste of time. It's extra work. Unnecessary extra work.
You won't realize it at first. Because of all the dopamine comes from trying out something new at first.

And that's why many people end up distro hopping. They seek more easy dopamine by trying out new stuff. Like unboxing new gifts.

But after some time it's gonna start to feel like a weight.
You'll start to realize all the extra work of staying at the Linux side.
Like you hold something, it doesn't feel heavy at first, but, like after half an hour later it'll start to become really really heavy.

The amount of NPCs that latch onto opinions about their software is unlike any other group I've ever encountered. People will make it their entire personality to "do something the X way" and never even bother to try something else or understand why doing something the Y way might be just as valid, or even better. it finally happened to me on my ten year old thinkpad. I upgraded my distro because of a libc 3.2 thing and my audio is fucked now, spent an hour trying to fix it and I did but the hardware keys no longer work despite x catching the events appropriately. fucckkkk

Not something specific to Linux per se, but I dislike how nowadays every "simple" program has to be this bloated mess of libraries, dependencies and overall unnecessary stuff. I used to think Linux was supposed to be "KISS"

Holy shit why do you need all that crap? I ended up just using a bash script that does the exact same thing. And this happens to all modern "simple" tools like calculators, pomodoro timers, counters, etc.

My complaint isn't about Linux as such, though it is rough around the edges. It's the "community", where every single problem is Your fault (core dumped), even when its documented a million times across the internet.
Say what you like about Microsoft or Apple, but they tend not to lie about the limitations or flaws of their OSs, and fix them pretty quickly and publically, instead of blaming the user and quietly fixing it in 18 months time.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Linux would progress in leaps and bounds if we simply genocided loontroons who go spastic when you criticize their waifu OS, and try to cover up its rough edges instead of fixing them.
