i find its skillset weird. i can throw a half baked program idea at it and it'll spit out working code more than 70% of the time, but if i ask it a mathematical question it's almost always wrong, and if i ask it to write the results are pitiful.

ChatGPT is like MS Paint. If you know what you're doing and use it appropriately it's capable of really cool stuff. If you just fuck about and try to use it haphazardly then yeah the results are pretty shit. People accept it can take years to learn to code well, use Photoshop or Blender, but when it comes to LLMs they think it should just magically give them the results they want immediately with no effort.

It was unironically better when it first came out, I’m pretty sure they’ve intentionally gimped all models and put so much red tape around it that only big corpo insiders now have access to the unfettered end product that can do much more.
