people definitely feel like (You)'s are a reward as well, thats why baiting is a thing. so instead of effort posting, you have people using posting in the most low effort way. posting a picture or something insincere with the soul purpose of getting a reaction, whatever it is.
with a reaction system, someone that posts something informative, that 100 people did read, but it wasnt very provocative, maybe they respond with a common rebuttal to some trash argument that gets spammed all the time. no one is going to bother replying to them noting that theyre right for this and that reason. so the person that effort posts, isnt really rewarded as much as a flyby poster who just shits something out and never engages again.
