I could make a lot of things connect to the internet. I could probably figure out how to post on this website with a Nintendo Wii if I really wanted to. The question becomes is it worth it not can I do it. There's also a reason why I'm a Linux user and not a Windows user. It doesn't matter how shit the hardware is I can probably get up to date Linux running on it and not poorly either. But the machine I am typing on this now is not a decrepit inefficient piece of crap that's going to randomly break down on me and need new parts. I'd keep such computers to dick around with not do important tasks.

The only reason I bought this is because my old laptop was having overheating issues and had to be taken in for repair multiple times. When you've spent half the cost of a new laptop on parts and repairs it's time to start thinking about if what you're doing actually makes sense. I don't like the idea of forced upgrade cycles and not using something that still works. But I also have shit to do. That means I don't want to be stuck with unreliable garbage.

I connect my computer to many different networks. I don't want to waste my time locking it the fuck down to protect against things that are otherwise beyond my control. Assuming they don't get into the network you're on. I could nmap the network I'm on right now and probably find at least 100 devices. I'd bet at least some are exploitable. Do you think it's a bright idea to bring a Windows 7 device onto such a network? Best practices are best practices for a reason.
