Artix vs. Arch
Is it genuinely superior to Arch? I mean sure, systemd is technically "bloated" and "a violation of the Unix philosophy" but do people even notice the difference between init systems?

there needs to be a section in the forum dedicated to porting systemd units to other inits. preferably well laid out and searchable.

I like Systemd.

arch was forced to adopt systemd and in the process became a soulless distro for people who actually do things with their computer. artix takes arch back to its roots as a useless toy for basement dwellers

this shit WILL break after update if you have any package from arch repo or AUR
without arch repos and AUR pissix have no software(2x less packages than in arch repo + there is fucking bunch of packages that just files for daemons for every init system) and software that managed to get in repos of these are old asf
also there is no benefits from removing systemd besides "uuh red hat bad" "reeee bloat" "code is spagetthi, but it's defenitely because fbi backdoors hidden in" "muh system launching 5 seconds faster on hdd 5600 rpm"

I have a few Arch and AUR packages installed on mine and no breakage so far. I've been using it for a bit over a year

I don't know but last time i attempted to use it simply installing vim one of the most common packages ever gave .so errors, so i'm not inclined to trust their maintainers to keep libraries up to date properly.
If you really want to get a system without systemd it'd probably be better to just use void, devaun, alpine, or gentoo.
Void being the closest to arch brainrot you can get.

Artix + XFCE
Simple as TKD + TRHD

For some reason Artix refuses to install itself using a GPT partition table so I actually cannot install it on my machine. I wanted to give it a try but not being able to even install on a 4tb hardrive is means it is literally worthless and a waste of time for me,

Is kind of right, systemd changes a lot of things just for the sake of it while being largely incomptable with the rest of the *nixs
Switching to something more standard and isn't hostile to other inits is pretty decent reason imho.

Gnome, ibm and systemd has done irreversable damage to opensource.

I had sort of a hard time installing it on a thinkpad. The boot usb would only boot in bios mode, but the os would only boot in uefi. I couldn't have it set to both because then the usb would be stuck on a black screen, but if I turned off uefi grub would refuse to install correctly.

Is it so hard to provide better alternative? Maybe stop creating retarded distros one after another and focus on creating perfect init system that can rival systemD huh?

Systemd and Wayland are fully established now and only weirdo niche distros for hobbyists won't have them present.

Even worse for me, I tried manually partitioning my drive with and without calameres and still got the problem. Abandoning systemd is all well and good, but I expect I should still be able to install your damn distro.

if systemd is too bloated then so is arch. you'd be looking at alpine or something if systemd was truly too heavy for your system

i like systemd and have been using it since 2012. wayland on the other hand is still "-wayland" in my use flags and i haven't run into anything i couldn't install because of that
