All these companies are adding new little buttons here and there all the time it is pretty annoying and does not improve usability at all.
It's just there to show some middle manager who responds to stock holders that they are making "progress".

Install Librewolf, make it portable and spend couple of hours to set it up the way you prefer.
It has couple of annoyances to deal with but still.
Then stop updooting all the time.
Most important thing is the portable installation. All your stuff is in one place and carries over easily.

It's not ruined.
If you want to remove that button, just do the following:

1) Go to about:config and set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to True.
2) Go go to about:support, scroll down to "Profile Folder" and click Open Folder.
3) create a folder called "chrome" in your profile folder.
4) inside the chrome folder, create a file called userChrome.css
5) edit the file with the following content:
#urlbar-searchmode-switcher {
visibility: hidden;
/* display: none; */
}

6) Restart Firefox.

It is not a new thing, URLs are not new, search is not new, duckduckgo is not new, the point is now being something which is new.

The point is in switching tools.

You don't repaint your hammer in your toolbox because Black&Decker or Makita just released a new line. Because it'd be retarded to do so. And despite there being a lot of video games and fun stuff, computers are tools as well. And not fun barbie dress up dolls with exchangable outfits. And we need them as tools. Think of rational examples: Somewhere today, some doctor who is supposed to be mentally focussed and concentrated on his patients, had to focus on Firefox troon dev brainfarts.

This is like going into the emergency room and moving the shit around, wasting everybodys time.

And then saying
>Uhmm excuse me doctor, but you are le autistic baby duck, my hair is purple your argument is invalid [COMMENT SECTION REMOVED FOREVER]

You get what you tolerate, stop tolerating modern mozilla.

Mozilla is retarded for not giving users an easier option and asking them when introducing this change. I've seen lots of complains in their feedback channels and they acknowledge that "some" users prefer the old way and it was actually *faster* to switch search engines before. but the button is more "discoverable" for new users.

Updates are a meme. If you were smart, you wouldn't have updated your chromium out of Manifest v2 in the first place. For lots of software, people simply use the best version, no matter how old it is, because it gets the job done better. uBlock by nature works only when it's updated, uMatrix will always work and always be good. Windows 11 is shit, so lots of people stay on 7, and it doesn't need updoots to work well. Same goes for your browser. Why are you updating your browser, despite everything telling you the updates are shit? "Boohoo Mozilla does this, chromium does that, they're anti-consumer!!! Pale moon is a sinking ship, buhuh moonchild!!" Just go back to old versions. There is very little software where the best version is the latest version.

Sadly, Brave. I tried every single possible browser out there. And Brave seems to be the most sane and "just werk" browser. The Strict adblocking has been great and overall it's just chrome but better. Saves you the time to install uBO.
That said, I despise chromium and its derivatives but the web is just not usable in gecko anymore. It always feels sluggish, things don't load, features break, pages don't work right, and Firefox is more hardware hungry overall.
Everything sucks. I don't care anymore.

I know that just mentioning Brave automatically makes you a shill but Vivaldi is just too bloated man. Yes, even Brave with all the crypto shit is less bloated than Vivaldi.
I really tried to like Vivaldi for almost a month but the UI is janky, the browser is slow and laggy, the added adblocker is just not as good as Brave's. It fucking sucks because I really like what the Vivaldi team represents. Also Vivaldi isn't open source.
If the Vivaldi team released a 'Lite' version, fully open source with just the ungoogled chromium base and with a good adblocker added, then it would be the best browser. But as of now, it's just not it.
Maybe if you're a power user I can see why Vivaldi is appealing. But it's just too much.

While the rural south has many negative stereotypes, one of the positive stereotypes is that the people there are authentic or genuine. They're good people who value an honest day's work, have integrity, and are charitable and cordial.
These people are soulless automata constructed from garbage consumer culture and social media. They cling to the aesthetics of authenticity. Saying 'folk' or 'folks' is the linguistic equivalent of the farm-to-table whole-foods reusable grocery bag. But with the added benefit of being able to broadcast it all the fucking time.

Zen Browser is apparently in beta, it's not ready for stable release. It's also not sensible to replace the browser I am already comfortable with for a fork of that browser that is developed by... who? If Mozilla does something really suspicious the internet will blow up in a rage, which will hurt them financially. If some developer of fork #4172 does something blatantly illegal or immoral, nobody will care, there's no guarantees. I don't trust forks.
