Why use a bunch of laptops instead of people servers?
What's the benefit of that?

by using phones, you get a cleaner fingerprint. that means less captchas. and some apps will only work on phones

It's a shill farm. There used to be a lot of videos of them being operated out of China and America. They'd have hundreds of them mounted to work spaces with one person running around tapping on them whenever the bot got stuck.

>>105699048
Basically this. It's so they look like unique devices. Phone has a cleaner fingerprint because of the SIM card and the fact that a lot of phone applications won't let you access their services if they detect they're being run in an emulator.

no bullshit
the real reason is that they want to run ARM software, and ARM servers are expensive and inefficient in emulating android. 2+GiB ram per emulator on the low side, and 2 or more cores locked.
stolen/used phones are not expensive. as evidenced by the fact theyre all random colors mixed inside the racks.

They don't even need to be stolen to keep costs down, used phones one or two generations old (especially if they aren't flagship bullshit you don't need for a bot farm) can be bought in bulk for literal pennies on the Dollar.

Those are phones not laptops, how was that not obvious?
Actually wait, what's a "people server"?
And further more do you have a source for that information about who is using that particular phone farm? I'm not saying phone farms aren't totally abhorrent or that Isreal shills aren't really using one, I just don't want to say something wrong and totally discredit my entire point. A tiktok caption isn't a source.

you're probably thinking you're smart by asking "uhh why arent they using emulators???"

the real reason is, most social media now uses hardware attestation like SafetyNet/Play Integrity. emulators and vm cant do that. using actual hardware IS the smarter and easier way.

there is no way to bypass the latest Play Integrity checks as far as i know. and most older version of apps that uses the older SafetyNet standard are no longer connecting to their server.

sums it up pretty well
you dont have to bypass any "latest" whatever whatsoever. 10 year old phones are still able to run the meta apps, you could just emulate that. the price is the only real reason. configure a 256gb 128 core ARM server, and compare that with the cost of buying ~64 used phones.

On android there's a program called input. You can use it to send events like strokes and taps. I had a stupid gacha game that wanted me to watch a bunch of junk for gems or whatever. I automated it that way. I did a few other things. The limitation with the app is the speed, but without root it's the only way. Something like
adb shell input touchscreen tap 1400 100

another reason is because, even if you dont use native apps that requires attestation, using socmed thru the web browser now requires phone number verification. you need a sim card for that. using cheap used phones with sim card is the best way.

>>105707282
>recently they've cracked down on old version of apps/phones
this is ironcally a GOOD thing. not only it stop botnets running on old versions, it also stop poor turdworlders that /g/ hates so much.
and yet, /g/ chuds and troons sethe and dilate about attestation because of """"noooo muh heckin privooocy"""""

they just have this circular behavior tree that becomes obvious. its like watching a rabbit run a circle or a dog or horse trying to get infront of another one and then turning around when you get to the shoulder line.
