First of all no Desktop Environment actually tries to be its own thing, everything just feels like a cheap chinese version of either Windows or MacOS
Videogames on the other hand run piss poor on my Nvidia GPU and I don't feel like dropping 1200 usd on an AMD GPU that can run 1440p games
I honestly just don't care anymore
Tried Mint/Ubuntu/KDE/SUSE/Fedora for the past year already and I just don't see how Linux is useful to me

Haven't played games in a few years, been busy, but the other day I finally had some time to sit down and chill. Satisfactory runs nearly perfectly via Steam's Proton 10.x, only issue is alt tabbing has a high chance of freeze crashing it, even in windowed fullscreen. I tried ProtonGE and it made no difference. Haven't tried pure windowed mode. This is probably what I deserve for being an NVidiot.

Dual booting just works well enough for me. All the productivity stuff I need works in Linux and if I want to game it's as simple as rebooting to Windows. Requires a fair bit of google-fu and savviness to set up but it's easily the best of both worlds

Even with my one issue I have, I honestly can't even complain too much when you consider what Wine/Proton unlocks. Most games I've tried run identically well on my hardware, and I don't have to dual boot any more. Debian has actually felt like a solid experience for the past few years, shit just works and is relatively straightforward to change. If you're willing to learn the tools it truly can be a daily driver now, without sacrificing anything.

I switched to Linux because windows 11 looks downright unusable to me and I don't want to be annoyed every second of my time on the computer. AMD 9070 is 599€ rn
You can fully customize the Linux DE looks btw (if you don't use gnome)

You do realize Windows was copying KDE the whole time? And MacOS and Windows copied each other the whole time?
GNOME is closer to Android than to MacOS.
And there's nothing wrong with making a UI that feels familiar to users.

I think there's 2 or 3 separate driver stacks for nVidia. Their older GPUs and their newer GPUs are using different drivers. It's possible that your distro didn't auto-pick the correct ones.
