They really are just pretending to work, aren't they
my product design interview today went pretty well, supposedly i'll have a few more interviews before they come to a decision. one with the product director, another one with the team, and a final assessment which they're not sure if they will need
it's a small company so on their end they're kind of blind when it comes to this process, they're interviewing candidates at multiple levels and i'm kind of honestly surprised they moved me forward when they had well over 350 applicants, but the role seems like a good match i can only see myself getting cucked by someone who's more senior or has had more experience as a founding designer
>>105713472 (OP)damn this general dead asf everyone found jobs nice

I'm unironically considering trying to get on disability and just living off of NEETbux for the rest of my life.
Either that or I'll try to start my own business which will probably fail but I do think there's a market for it, the issue is I don't currently have the technical skill, starting capital, and connections to get it really taken off.
>>105715770There's no point in posting the same thing over and over again, the job market sucks, everyone knows this.
You guys have any experience with Peace Corps? Is it a good way to neet until the market recovers?
honestly think I just threw away a dream job opportunity because I made some bad assumptions about the interview process and didn't revise the right things. I aced the take home challenge, I aced the system design, and the leetcodes but fucked up on the basic stuff I originally learned in high-school, and now I'm going to have to wait another 30 weeks before I finally get an chance hahhahahahahaa oh my god
and now I have to wait a full week before I find out whether i actually failed or not
I'm so fucking worthless, I'm so fucking stupid, I'm so fucking embarrassing, I'm so fucking useless, I'm so fucking retarded, I'm so fucking incompetent I'm so fucking shameful. Kill me now kill me w kill me now aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Will it be a waste of time and money if I went for a CompTIA Security+ cert?
Gave up on the idea of getting a development job and want to try getting into IT or cybersec even if it's just like help-desk level shit. Allegedly the cybersecurity job market is supposed to stay growing.
Has anyone here completed the Cloud Resume Challenge using Azure?
I blew it after connecting with someone in the company and being overly formal in my messages. Now the person hasn't responded. I'm so fucking rusty with corporate behavior. Even a slight chance at a cushy gig gone just like that.
How the FUCK are computer nerds not able to get jobs now, even with certifications and degrees? I graduated high school in the late 00s and was jelly of the dudes who were smart enough to get compsci degrees and shit.
>>105718365Because of a very successful decade long campaign to flood the market with workers.
how do you cope as a degreecel?
I'm seriously considering just dropping out and working some menial job
>>105717996Sec+ is great for goverment jobs. You should read A+/Net+ content to get the basics of IT down before taking Sec+. Actual helpdesk questions are mostly spread between all 3 tests but Sec+ will get you the job.
>>105719467>You should read A+/Net+ content to get the basics of IT down before taking Sec+I already took classes that covered the basics of A+, Net+ and Sec+ content at a community college but didn't bother getting the certs because I fell for the programming degree meme. I took a free online practice exam earlier without studying first just to see how much I knew and I got around a 70% on it, so it shouldn't take much studying and review for me to get an acceptable grade.
I initially wanted to avoid government contracting work because of muh edgy 4channer anti-establishment pride but I realized recently that whether you work for the govt or for big tech, you're still working for the same system that wants you replaced, the difference is just that visajeets and border-hoppers can't steal your government contractor job as quickly.
Thanks for the response anon
>>105719562Also I recommend Boson for testing material. Best formatting and easy to follow. Udemy is real hit and miss with its formatting and often times your paying for video content that already exists for free on youtube.
Your not winning in this job market. Get your Masters degree, certs, and learn as much as you can at the job because we are now living in east asian competition territory. If you one day have kids then you need to cram as many books in there brains as possible. Get them good at math if you want them to have jobs that pay really well and if need be pay for there degrees. Its only getting worse as the years drag on.
After 2.5 months of having applied to register my company, the government finally came back with an update that they are finally processing my request. There is less than a 50% chance they approve it despite having client prospects, VC's asking to invest, a working prototype, and good market research. On average it can take 6 months to get accepted and the only thing to do if they refuse is to apply again.
I love this country but god damn some parts are really annoying.

What's the point of fake job listings?
Someone told me that companies post a job listing even if they already have someone lined up, usually internally, for the job because they "have to". Why would they have to?

Hello anons, I hope I'm posting this in the right place (if not, please tell me where it would be more appropriate):
So following situation, I dropped out of university after 4 years (CS - German University), mainly because I hated what I was studying and also because the covid lockdowns absolutely ruined me mentally (doing much better now).
I'm now thinking of applying for entry level software sales jobs in Ireland, since I heard there's good demand for people who speak German and English fluently. But how do I make my CV? Should I just mention where I studied but not leave out the fact that I didn't get a degree? Should I "shorten" the time I spent studying so it doesn't look that bad? And to make things worse, I basically have zero work experience beside working in my parents' small business, but I was more of a helping hand and mainly taking care of bureaucratic things, so it's not like I was officially employed.
Is there even a point in applying for such jobs in Ireland, or would I be wasting my time? Any alternatives beside putting the fries in the bag at McDonald's? To be honest, it might seem contradictory to what I've already mentioned about myself, but (lack of) intelligence wasn't really my issue, but rather the fact that I was naive and lacked the will and motivation to study something I hated, which is how I ended up in this situation.
Anyways, thanks for reading my semi-gay reply and I would appreciate and tips and advice.
Should I start drinking before interviews? I'm really autistic and have social anxiety
>>105728593Phenibut. Don't use it on the regular, because it is addictive.
>>105718365Juniors (so basically all the people who got CS degrees because of the lern2code meme) got automated out of the industry by LLM's.
>>105728114last time i went to best buy everyone but the manager was either a jeet or a shaniqua so i wouldn't feel too shameful about that
>>105728573>entry level software sales jobs in IrelandCan't help you much here since I'm a burger but you usually shouldn't need lots of in-depth technical knowledge for sales, it's more about being charismatic and able to negotiate but having a small background in tech would help. Certifications help a lot with entry-level IT stuff as well.
>Should I just mention where I studied but not leave out the fact that I didn't get a degree?Put where you studied but don't explicitly state that you didn't get a degree. If they ask just tell them you didn't complete your degree. If they ask why, just say you were helping with your family business or taking care of relatives, or make up some bullshit like considering different majors or careers at the time and you didn't want to fully devote yourself to a degree, or any other "good" excuse for dropping out of college.
Listing some college education is better than listing no college education.
>I basically have zero work experience beside working in my parents' small business, but I was more of a helping hand and mainly taking care of bureaucratic things, so it's not like I was officially employedYou should still list this as work experience and give background on what exactly you helped with.
>lacked the will and motivation to study something I hatedIf you hate CS and tech stuff you should find a different career path now since it's only going to get harder to get a job and salaries will keep going down due to outsourcing, immigration, and AI, so if you don't enjoy working in this field and just want money, you're not going to enjoy your future.
It's insane how long some of these companies take to process applications... how can it take weeks for a stupid HR lady to just make a phone call...
>>105729011I am from the other end of getting you guys hired.
>5 job openings in the company>5000 job applications of various qualities>some are auto apply, head hunters or what we really care about is direct applications from our website>fuck it to many people lets cut anyone without a degree (old fags get fucked)>still to many but i can sort these for entry if they do not have a masters degree (entry gets fucked too many masters degrees)>3 page resumes or longer get trashed>not enough job experience gets trashedleft with 500 job applications fuck i wish i could just source these from only US and only my neighboring states. Would make the non committed(unwilling to move) applications get dropped from my list entirely.
>>105729276So you ended up with roughly 100 pretty decent applications for each opening. Although I know you wanted to get more local candidates. Do you usually get that many applications? I'm trying to figure out how saturated the market is right now. I know it's bad, I just don't know how bad.
Personally, I was able to find a job as a code monkey in 2 weeks in 2021. Now I'm unemployed again looking for a new job and its taken 2 months so far with very few bites.
>>105729751Expect 6 months from now. When we got 100 apps per position you would have to wait 1 month to get a job with roughly 1/10 still being qualified. Companies used to do +1 if there were good candidates but that time of endless growth in the market has passed.
>>105713472 (OP)Is that wojak supposed to be Michel Houellebecq? What would he have to do with tech workers?

i'm still getting interviews even though I've been unemployed for seven months but holy shit it's bad. the interviews aren't even interviews anymore they're just HR astrology.
at this point i hope this country collapses, at least then you can't import indians to help you grow food
>>105730066He wrote books about tech workers
>>105729276Man this is depressing.
Do you guys go through every qualified candidate first and see who's the best fit, or if you find someone that fits the bill before going through all of them do you just hire said candidate and tell everyone else to get fucked?
>>105725219>let juniors handle the hardware and 1st levelWhat juniors?
>>105729276Have you ever sat down and gone through the full list for research purposes to find how many qualify? I'm wondering how inflated they are by jeets and desperate juniors spamming without meeting minimum qualifications (before you're forced to filter everyone for not having a phd of course).
>>105729276please kill yourself. Happy to help :)
>>105731227I'm ot him and I did that a few times. Unlike that cretin I never 'cut off' people, I just derank them. I then go through the list top to bottom for interview scheduling.
I have hired for companies with anywhwre from 5 to 120 employees.
In the 120 employee company, we would get about 500 applicarions for a role. I takes about an hour to properly read and rank all 500 including a quick glance at github and the cover letter. I am sure I could be even faster in the first pass with a 2 stage approach. About half (every time) were immediately ineligible (e.g. fake pajeets and such). After that, I can usually eliminate 20% based on a more thorough check e.g. github only containing copy-pasted projects but the resume claiming those projects as new and personal inventions (i.e. frauds).
Finally about 90% fail a quick tech screen (e.g. don't know what the modulo operator is, has too much of a surface unserstanding of programming concepts, or thought he was not going to get caught using chatgpt to talk about basic stuff that even freshmen should know).
In one company they immediately sent an offer to the first match. Another wqited to have 3 in the pipeline so they can immediately turn around if the 1st choice refuses.
In the end we tick everyone in the ats and send the rejection email.

I was never good in school at math, i was never good at physics, i was ahead of the curve with computers
because i was playing video games. Because i was so inapt at math i was always behind the cool kids..
I always wanted to participate in these math events and later on programming events...
Around middleschool i started developing a big god complex... why? Because we learned basic programming
and i was able to create stuff i found cool and most importantly i was BETTER than all my peers..
Then in highschool i got separated from everyone cause of my math grades, but we kept in touch online.
MY God complex got even worse, because i started self teaching and was still much ahead of everyone,
even kids that were going to the olympiads and solving algorithm problems (looking back, all my algo solutions
were more or less "ugly" and bruteforce but i didnt know any better), and i was also learing about linux.
Then... right about end of highschool when everyone got money and opportunities for universities, i didnt get
anything... i got demoralized and had to work construction jobs, being so tired from working 12 hour days
i stopped programming, i stoped studying, i stoped being ahead... All THE FUCKING RETARDS started being above me
Now half a decade later, some of them work in FAANGS, some of them at banks, some of them at good cushy jobs
I lost, i picked it up 2 years ago and been in tutorial hell ever since, being constantly demoralized
Never taking action, Never to take action, Never to become better

I Failed.

honestly if all these product led companies are saying more and more of their work is being done by AI, doesn't that mean anyone could just build their product with AI?
then what's the point of paying thousands of dollars a year for enterprise software when users could just use AI to build it themselves and save on the bill, plus get it even more tailored to their own use cases?
it seems to me like every company is jumping on the train for short term gains and FOMO, with the whole industry is just digging their own grave
>>105735709The end goal is to replace all devs (and white collar jobs) with AI completely. CEOs know though that AI currently is just a productivity-increasing tool and even with 1000 different agents running simulatenously you will still produce shitloads of code that either doesn't run or doesn't solve the task at hand. Here is where developers come in and are supposed to direct AI and only approve solutions that actually work.
>>105735709AI doesn't work
anyone with a shred of "AI" experience knows it's just being versed in tensor libraries and has always been
the application of which is entirely for data and nothing outside of data
AI replacing jobs is a meme so that the PPP business owners who are knee deep in debt (consider how the fed runs the US nowadays using business retards as money laundering to the consoomer goys) can cut their staff to continue paying their interest before they realize that they need their staff to make a profit, since LLMs are utterly useless at doing anything except typesetting
>>105735709It's a meme. AI can't even improve effixiency. This is why all attempts at metrics comparing essentially "using sticks and stones" to "using AI" as if there is nothing in-between.
Companies larp otherwise brcause of fiduciary duties (if they don't claim they're forcing everyone to use AI they can be fired or even sued and go to jail) and due to ceo retardation. It's also the perfect cover to fire 50% of the workforce to paper over losses related to unprofitable AI investments.
>>105735806I like how after firing people to go to ai they then have to hire more people to clean up after the ai
>>105735860The thing is, companies are downsizing their staff until they reach a point where employees all start voting for far left politicians who will put a stop to this practice.

I would recommend AWS (probably SAA to start) certs over CCSP. CCSP isn't very well-known, and typically when I mention it people think I'm talking about CISSP. It does have a good amount of 8140 qualifications, but with DoD work it's only a matter of time before you're back in a SCIF, as you probably know.
Definitely start a degree if you don't have one already.

>>105748661Hey man, I get the frustration but your career didn't die. It just hasn't started yet. And honestly? Being a blank slate at 22 with a cs degree is actually not the worst position to be in.
The job market is tough right now, no sugarcoating that. But you've got options. Since you don't have the typical constraints (family, mortgage, etc), you can actually be more aggressive with your approach.
Few things to consider tho.
- Your portfolio is probably the issue, not your degree. Most CS grads have similar coursework but employers want to see what you can actually build
- Look into intensive bootcamps or specialized training. At Metana we see people pivot into web3 development and land jobs pretty quickly because there's still high demand and less competition
- And dont just apply online. That's where resumes go to die. Network, go to meetups, contribute to open source projects
The economy thing... yeah it's messy but tech is still one of the better sectors to be in long term. Your CS degree gives you a foundation that most people don't have.
Take a step back, build some real projects, and maybe look into emerging tech areas where the barriers are lower because everyone's still figuring it out. You're 22. You've got time to figure this out :)

As an autist who did get a tech job. This field really isn't the place you want to be. Reading through this thread, some people recommended networking etc and meetups, you really think a socially retarded person is going to do well at that?
Do not enter this profession unless you have soft skills, which you don't have if you use this website.
People think computer work is for autists but it's not, it's for normies and women, like all office jobs. I see people entering this field because they are pussies, and think doing a trade will put them around macho men that they are too scared to encounter, but the thing is that the creatures you encounter in an office are much worse.
But in truth I think a lot of you are jeets who are doing this just for status or somethng..

You're too low iq for software as well. Because even if advising people to enter trades could lead to oversaturation, that would take over a decade, whereas software is already over saturated. Your iq is so low I think plumbing would be too hard for you.
>>105743342kek'd.
Seems automation will become the thing that everyone in tech needs to learn at some point. I've even automated my job search, pre written cover letters and all. >>105750968>>105751177I just looked up one of those lists and apparently "software engineering" is an under-saturated field, just fucking lol
>see a junior dev role
>advertising $20 USD an hour (converted for you burgers)
>as a casual, 2-3 days a week, 15-22.5 hours per week ($300-$450)
>posted 1 hour ago, it has a "medium application volume"
What the fuck.
>>105751205What country? The only tech related shit on the lists here are related to installing cables.
>>105751229US. The list is around year old but all the techs layoffs and job markets shit happened nearly two years ago at this point so I'm surprised it was on there even then lmfao
>>105751240Yeah that's just some lobbying shit right there. The only questionable things I've seen so far on my list are
>Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health PractitionerAnd it's right at the top because the list's sorted alphabetically which is pretty funny.
>Locksmith73 jobs in the country, it's clearly not in high demand even if they're all looking for apprentices.
>>105751214People need a job title to move up nd not pay at first
>>105751320That low end one doesn't even cover rent, you are paying.
>>105713472 (OP)im unemployed technician im no work right so i travel i have money
>Updated on Feb. 20, 2025
lmfao are you shitting me
Cybersecurity specialists are also on this list. It's all either tech jobs that are blatantly oversaturated or shit I would have to get a different degree for with the exception of shit like electrician work.
>>105747935You can go to a doctor and request he sign you a paper saying you have a burnout and you will get EI
So many lazy unemployed tech workers. Surely more H1bs will solve this, right?
I want to <in Minecraft> the people who write these fucking articles
>>105751363That reads as a fucking wired article not a government made list of in-need positions.
im unemployable
i want to read this thread
i have bachelor degree in cybersecurity
i work as door greeter at target (called security specialist but i jut greet people)
>IT help desk technician
>listed under "high-paying entry level job that requires no experience"
>2 years of work experience and a master's degree required for position
I think I might just go all in on my shitty "side hustle" idea of buying old/broken computers for cheap, installing Linux Mint on them, and reselling them on ebay or etsy as "privacy/security focused devices using a secure OS" or some shit. Not sure if it would make much profit though.
>>105751446Anon, you can't murder an AI. I mean, maybe if you had access to the data center you could wipe the hard drives, but that's it.
>>105751695destroy all datacenters
Take the wagie pill, /utwg/
>In tech, you might have to work 60 hour weeks
>Instead, work as a Domino's driver for 60 hours (note that stores usually cap you at 40 hours to avoid OT)
>$20 California minimum wage + maybe $6/hour average in tips + 20 hours overtime per week = around $30.43 per hour
>$87,638 annually doing chill retard job
>>105751802>implying people who get delivery actually pay tips>implying gas cost and car maintenance won't eat into your earningsAnd in tech there's significantly less risk of dying in a car accident or getting ganked by nonwhites
>>105722012>It's sucks. You're education and abilities go to waste. This is why I made sure to not finish my CS degree. Now I have nothing to lose!
>>105722060>Costco hot dogs now cost 14$ with relish and onions there 18$>The US dollar ends up being like the Ruble or Rupee where 30,000 of them equals $300I believe it.

i havent worked in over a year. how many applications will it take to get hired or should i give up. have put in 100 applications over like 5 days. i have 10 years exp, some at good companies but mostly my resume is a cluster fuck.
>>105752361At least you qualify for senior positions, that right there means you'll get one 10x faster than a mid dev let alone a junior who's fucked right out of the gate. Worst case scenario you can out-qualify a mid dev for their own jobs.
>>105752376we're all fucked lads. every job is fake, whoever is getting hired is just a normalfag with a network.
>Working day-to-day with our local dev and DevOps teams, also collaborating with our global teams in India and US
At least they're up front about it.
>>105750161the computer don't like you back

>>105751942it's ok dominos has a big warning on their order page now saying DRIVERS CARRY LESS THAN 20$ IN CHANGE
>>105721121thats literally every country where someone in government doesn't like (You)
>>105748661well if he's posting on reddit clearly he has access to some kind of device. Why can't he use it to build an app and make millions of dollars just like elon musk did?
>>105753505They'll shoot you for the fuckin pizza nowadays.
>>105754137>implying I didn't eat it first>implying they can even steal the car (dominos has GPS tracking and they would be caught basically instantly and even niggers are teched up enough to be aware of this)niggas is hungry out here. don't hate the gamers hate the game
