15 years on windows, soon win 10 won't be supported and i HATE with absolute passion win 11 that i had unpleasure to use.
Where do i begin with linux?

just get linux mint. Very easy to do everything with.
>download iso from mint's website
>download balena etcher
>have usb
>use balena etcher to put mint on usb
>plug into whatever pc and go to uefi (this is the annoying part cus every computer is different but you'll figure it out)
>follow instructions from there

balena is a company
they make a piece of software called balena etcher
you use balena etcher to put whatever distro on whatever medium
in your case, linux and a usb
I know this is difficult to follow but the basic gist is that it's "something you need to install linux, it's really easy, just do it"

Depends,
>are you a windows brained lazy bum that has a breakdown the moment sees something slight different from the windows ui?
Then Mint LTS, ZorinOS, PCLinuxOS, OpenMandriva Rock and Fedora Kinoite are some picks that may work for you.

Or
>i don't give a shit about the ui but i don't want to do ANY work, not even clicking to the (automatically recognized) drivers install button
PoP!OS probably.

Ventoy is better than both. Makes it ez to put multiple ISOs on a USB, and you can still use the free space for other shit too.

Otherwise just use Linux Mint, or if you end up not liking the cinnamon desktop environment you can install a base install of debian with the net installer, the run sudo apt install kde-plasma-desktop (NOT kde-full).

Ventoy > Balena > Rufus, and I used to use rufus.
