>Printer simps truly don't understand that they're printing garbage not meant to last.

I think we need a general and I will be making a wiki to compile all the debunkings of the nonsense printer fags say.

Why 99% of people do not need a 3D printer?
1) FDM shit all of it emits micro plastics like crazy. This is the result of the FDM process that CAN NOT BE FIXED plastic that is injection molded is one solid where the microplastics problem is smaller.

If another SÖY fag who 3D prints says something about his SÖYjak cup holders that he 3D printed ask yourself
>Do I want that shit to emit more microplastics in this part of my home?
>Do I need this crap?

2) Resin 3D printing needs you to work with toxic chemicals in the washing process.

With all these downsides you ask yourself
>Do I need this plastic crap?
>Can I buy it faster and cheaper from a real store?

And 95% of the time the answer is YES. So you are poisoning yourself and your home with microplastics or dangerous chemicals to make a item longer and more expensively then simply buying it from a store.

Lets see
>>105713669
WOW a cable holder...
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=cable+holder&crid=10TXH8P9U7N0H&sprefix=cable+%2Caps%2C378&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
$10 max on amazon.

Did you really need a 3D printer for this crap?

>Muh other uses
Name them. Most 3D printing idiot can not 3D model and need others to make the models for them. It is as """"maker community""" as you searching pictures on the internet and downloading them.

I like to see the uses for these 3D printers you fagots buy at home.

>Much mechanical parts
More expensive then buying replacements and everything 3D printed especially FDM disintegrates if force is used on it

How about the part lasting until next year?

>Herp derp my coat hanger lasted
Not mechanical, cheaper and better in stores, also did you really need to spread microplastics all over your clothing?

And my favorite part:
>>105711267
>Whenever people shit on 3D printers or call them useless it always turns out that they never even owned one and haven't seen one since the early Ender 3 days.

Lets see
>Bro why are you calling NFTs useless if you did never buy a NFT?

See why people hate printer fags?

The extruder motor i mean. Everything that comes out the nozzle is already molten and any potential particles within the actual extruder are contained within.

>>105720765
There is UV resin made for that stuff. Not perfect as then you are dealing with UV resin which is an underrated killing machine. The actual injection molding rig is also not very expensive, well DIY ones for not so big parts.

COPE.

All the videos of the 3D printing fanatics and even they get spooked where all the microplastics are all over their house.

>extruder
IF you THINK you realize FDM made products emit microplastics everywhere! This is because FDM fuses small parts of a past together there are small gaps this is why FDM shit is always more fragile then injection molded plastics (who have no gaps, holes etc) and why it breaks up into microplastics over time.

There is no fixing this. FDM shit is literally only useful if you want to make bombs out of them or parts of bombs since you do not care if there are microplastics in this scenario.

you can take that into account. but i dont consider 3d printer parts precision parts honestly
metal inserts for the win
but then i am a manufacturing engineer, that calls "3d printing" additive manufacturing and a 2.5 axis cnc process, so i am used to finish my prieces, even if only bc i find unfinished parts cringe

Anyone looked at the Creality HI CFS combo? I'm considering it as a cheap plug and play upgrade from my old ender 3 printer of Theseus.
I don't have the time to baby a printer or hang around for filament changes and long print times are a drag.

nta but I've replaced some small parts on nice toys I passed down to my son. I made larger cup holders for my kids' car seats because they weren't big enough for their water bottles. I printed a "lock" for my office French doors because my youngest is a raccoon that pulls my shit out of the drawers. The thing that probably saved me the most money overall was printing some custom standoffs for the plumbing setup in my cabin. I also made a bunch of custom tool mounts for the garage. Overall it's worth it for the price of an ender 3 imo. But it's not worth it if you don't know how to cad/blender because all the shit I actually keep is stuff I designed. The only exception I guess is the flexi/pokemon stuff I print because my kids really like those.

People who still spam the microplastics meme are braindead idots and examples of people who haven't kept up with 3d printing in over a decade.
As long as you don't have mutiple printers right next to you running 24/7 and sniffing the fumes you will be fine.
Most people just put them in their basement or any random room with an open window.
You idiots act like you stand near a 3d printer for a few seconds and you die. This is some bluetooth/wifi wave cancer nonsense.

Bambu is also chink you idiot. It's not about specs, even in terms of built quality, fans, bigger and quieter motors etc. the Centauri is better. and print quality is basicly the same or even better in terms of overhangs, you idiots need to stop acting like Bambu are the only printers that work.
I might as well call you bambu shill, but that would probably trigger you. If you are going to shill Bambu at least shill the A1 or A1 mini. They are better than the P1P/P1S unless you 100% need a corexy for some reason.
They are way quieter, cheaper, have built in flow calibration.
At this point you are better off waiting for the next corexy from Bambu which will use the A1 motors and print head. I have no idea how people can stand the jet engine from the P1S/P1P.

3D printing has a real usecase and it is prototyping. You can quite easily model a 3D object then encase it in sand/clay or whatever you use, and then prepare your favorite alloy to turn the plastic into metal.
Of course, there even are companies that will 3D print you things out of metal.

I use it for my work and uni. I have never printed anything I've downloaded and I agree you are deranged if you view a 3D printer as a local and decentralized means of manufature.
But:
If anything approaches slightly complex geometry and I can not continue my chosen roure of development without the part I choose to 3dp it, at least to test things.
Consider picrel. If I was to make it with the means available to me I'd set up a generating mechanism on a shaper. Cut and turn the blank, set it up and cut the part. Setup alone would be alot of effort and time.
Alternatively I could order it from a CNC shop that is better equipped than me. In my country at least that's not a fast process from order to delivery. And expensive.
With 3DP I whip it up in CAD and my shitty old 2nd hand printer goes brrrrt and turns a meter of the cheapest filament on ebay into something I can at least evaluate in a few hours. Meanwhile I can do some housekeeping on the project.
I must say I am critical of and don't want to be associated with the stereotypical 3d printer guy, constantly tinkering with their printer, printing as a means to its own end, printing 'improvements' for their printer, acquiring a tool only to then manufacture a purpose for it, believing they can download and 3DP quality consumer grade products. Thats retardation and misses the point:/High level of customization and rapid prototyping.

If your IQ is above room temperature, then you're capable of designing things you need and printing them for a fraction of the price of buying. It might take a while to pay off, but it will happen eventually and in the meantime you can have exactly the parts you need instead of something that's probably good enough to make work.

cad and blender and two very different things
i've done cad for work for over 10 years. i haven't touched blender, it's a whole different field. blender is what i call 'organic modelling', that is, from what i've seen, you shape objects as if from clay to the approximate shape you want, this would naturally involve very different tools to cad, which is more procedural. with cad, you rarely touch the shape directly, rather it's the result of multiple steps, each step being recorded separately and can be edited at a later point and may be driven by mathematical functions or via external parameters
not being a blenderfag, i really couldn't point out specific differences, and maybe there's move overlap than i know, but from what i've seen it's very different. just because both /can/ export triangle models doesn't mean the process is in any way similar. i've done a few 3d prints from my cad software, and i would consider such exported models 'baked', like i would never import them again. they've lost a huge amount of information, leaving only the outer surface

not him, but 3d models come in different varieties. the most common is the kind made up of many triangles. models made up of a list of triangles positioned in 3d-space and nothing more.
then there's something like what cad uses, called b-rep, or boundary representation, where volumes are created by mathematically describing various basic shapes to define their boundaries
a basic example may be a cylinder. you could describe a cylinder using a height and radius, and a 3d-representation can be created on demand at any resolution. this is what b-rep does. a triangulated model on the other takes that and turns the surface of the cylinder into a fixed set of triangles. so it is analogous to raster vs. vector. only in 3d

neither of us are claiming they're identical
of course triangle models can be rendered at any resolution much like an svg can, but in 3D you can't use the same metric.
for example, consider a circle. a triangle-based model cannot record a circle with indefinite resolution. if you zoom in enough you will see flat edges. with b-rep, a circle is a circle. which is /analogous/, not /identical/ to raster vs. vector. where you can zoom into a raster of a circle, but at some point you will run into a jagged edge as it is only a fixed set of points approximately following the edge of a circle, while a vector format can describe a circle itself directly

stl uses 3 points and a vector to define the triangles in the file, so what? that doesnt make it a vector file, its still a mesh of triangles that you need a gorillon more to get precision in a complex shape, same exact shit you have in raster, while step should define it mathematically like in svg

yea, this confirms what i imagined. you're still thinking of it in literal terms. compared to 2D both formats are 'vector', but we're talking about 3D. an stl or other triangle-based format is like making a raster in that you're taking a higher level representation and quantising it to a /fixed/ set of triangles. a b-rep format on the other hand can describe the original curves that an stl cannot, /that/ is what we're trying to convey to you.
to reiterate, in 2D you might take a circle and turn it into a set of points/squares that roughly follow the original shape, but zoomed in you can only see the points/squares. in 3D you might take a circle and turn it into a set of triangles which roughly follow the original shape, but when zoomed in you can only see the edges of the triangles. do you understand?

I know this is bait, but i have a 3d printer and it is a cool hobby. I like tuning the machine and configuring it. Also I have printed several parts to repair shit around the house, I also have printed parts to build a large CNC router.
The microplastics argument is solid, but i believe that as long as you print PLA in a very well ventilated environment and with a mask on you are not going to risk much. I belive MP and NP exposure from drinking from an old PET bottle or having polyester clothes around the house is far greater. Also if you live in a city you breathe tire rubber dust all the time.

from a layman's perspective, i'm sure it's all just '3d', and before i got into cad i didn't know there' was such a big difference either.
in terms of 3d printing, the difference doesn't matter, a 3d printer is like a regular '2d' printer in that it doesn't care how to create the 'pixels', only that you have some to print. what tools/methods you use to make said 'pixels' depends on your skills and goals

It's apparent you don't really understand 3D printing beyond some youtube videos, you don't understand manufacturing in general, and you obviously don't understand what microplastics are either.

Why do you keep talking about microplastics like it's some kind of unassailable argument against 3D printing when you don't know what you're talking about? Your autistic dislike for 3D printing comes from somewhere else.

Go fuck yourself spastic.
I've explained what I need such parts for and that this specifically entails they do not need to 'work' at all or for long. Or if you want to look at it from another perspective: Use available tools according to thwir limitations where applicable. As such I make my design process consider the availavility of this tool.
You have also demonstrated great ineptness. You're citing disintegrating geartrains. Such disintegration will always be the result of exposure or excessive force. It seems it has not occured to you that not all geartrains are meant to transmit useful force. Timing applications for example do exist.
I thibk you would be better of to think of '3D printing' as several only loosely related disciplines.
A purely scientifical one as Bowyer envisioned. Bowyer IS predominantly concerned with the feasibility of replicants. A most obvious key technology for issues such as space exploration. On a sidenote: A scientist who ignores his preconception, as he should, will view the question of feasibility in manufacturing as a simple set of equations. For example an equation describing economic feasibility would simply assume all else to be equal and then equate the sum of the cost of tooling and N times the unit cost on both sides which actually leaves several solutions for the injection molding question. Since N will never be infinite if the printing unit cost approaches injection moldinv and the printing tooling is sufficiently cheap: Voila. That's the scientific perspective.
Then there is the consoomer goods market perspective: Do you have a general problem with toys? I don't. I am only concerned if people playing with toys try to rationalize their behaviour as something that it is not. But otherwiese I have no problem with people making toys, people buying toys and playing with toys. Just call it what it is.
A third perspective: As I've said there is a valid use case. Complex geometry, highly individualized parts.

i never got why OP is crying about microplastics.
He is pretending like FFF printers are SLS death machines that spew death dust at you for looking at them. Microscopic fragments of filament are made when it rubs against something hard. The only part that abrates in this way are the extruder motor gears. The rest is as slippery and smooth as possible to ease the feeding of filament. I have my printer in an enclosure and regularly clean it, the only place where i can find plastic is on the gears, and even then its an incredibly tiny amount. Everything else might have a small layer of dust but its still freer of particles than outside of the enclosure.
This lack of understanding would mean OP is retarded but him putting words in peoples mouths just means he is trolling.

picrel, OP is confusing FFF with SLS on purpose. FFF uses long extrusions of material that is visible to the naked eye while "fusing small parts together" is something SLS does with dust too small to distinguish with the naked eye, quite literately micro plastic.

background is irrelevant. UV prints have such a nice surface that its immediately apparent that is was not FFF printed. It also has a also non grainy matte surface which is another indicator of resin printing. Yes there are shiny resins too but most people use the matte ones and even with the shiny resins its easy to distinguish between FFF and Resin. It just "looks right". If it looks perfect its resin.

I know blender and very little of CAD.
Blender is not really shaping like clay it is this 3D fake shaping of polygons that can mess itself up AKA generate non manifold geometry AKA not water tights models.

Basically polygons are literally flat 2D triangles placed in 3D space.

If you want real clay try voxel based VR sculpting.

>procedural
Blender can do procedural.

Only it is not a flat 2D plane that extrudes into 3D you can simply take 3D objects and let them interact using boolean operations like this WebM shows.

FACT: 3D printed FDM plastic are INFERIOR to injection molded ones and break, this is a FACT that can not be debated because the FDM proces leaves holes inside the part

FACT: FDM and resin can NEVER generate functional gears or parts all of them disintegrate within minutes of use.
If you have a solution please show it since all the pro-printing channels tried this and failed.

I see people has engaged you with honesty and legitimately and you have not responded in kind
now is my time to try
I need a riser piece of x height for a pcie riser to fit with case
I pull out my caliper
I use the solvespace
I 3d print it 100% infill
If it fits: good, problem is now solved, I can now do things and live decently happy
Very specific piece only I need of specific dimensions
I need only use the resources needed for making that one piece + prototypes
I will agree on one thing:
Not everyone needs one, and if every library had at least one 3d printer of decent speed in an isolated setup I would have used that one

This is true however print fags will rather burn themselves alive then admit to this.

All FDM and sintering creates gaps that you can see. Denying this is denying reality. These are structural weak points and will result in the part breaking. Injection molded parts are stronger then FDM or sintering shit.

You should look up the term of patents in the US. Assuming this part was a patented part (it wasn't), the fact that it's on a ZJ Grand Cherokee (introduced 1992) like I told you should have been a clue that any relevant patents would be long expired.

He is not talking about hygroscopy. There are only a couple polymers that are so hygroscopic water can penetrate through them like a seive. In fact I this only is a problem for PA6 and polycarbonate. If you injection mold with those materials water will seep through just the same as an FDM printed part.

>>105739186
But it already is. FDM printed parts last the same amount of time as injection molded parts. the ONLY disadvantage is a weakness in the Z direction which isn't difficult to design around.

That's because those tested bottles contained plastic on the caps. It's brittle crap that scratched off and got in the water.
3d printed parts have surface defects and easily release microplastics through abrasion. A 3d printed PETG water bottle would be way worse than an mold injected one.

Plastic bottles are plastic with plastic caps. Glass bottles have aluminium caps.
>The microplastics primarily originate from the paint on glass bottle caps, which deteriorates and contaminates the drinks during storage
>Simple cleaning methods, such as rinsing caps with water and alcohol, can reduce microplastic contamination by up to 60%
Even if they did that, you don't know they did and it's still way more microplastics than a plastic bottle with plastic cap. The only solution to it is to not use paint, except you can't just do that as at minimum you need a coating on aluminium. The next best solution is to use plastic lids on glass bottles. Or
Uncoated titanium. And your comments are 3d printed bottles are dumb af. Petg is also a different material to bottles which are pet not petg and caps are hdpe or pp

It's not just the bed adhesion that's a problem. I refuse to work with it because it outgases formaldehyde vapor when heated and none of my printers have the adequate filtration to deal with that.
You *can* print with it, but it is awful to work with in every way that a 3d printing material can be awful. With other materials you have one or two things to deal with but Delrin has all that shit at once.

>>105751475
There are simply better options if you need to FDM print a part that has the properties delrin has. There aren't 100% perfect replacements but other filaments would sometimes exceed Delrin in other ways.
Delrin just works extremely well in injection molding and CNC so it's relatively popular in those fields.
