Yeah honestly a lot of the problems people have with models can be solved with a decent preset and testing. You can try frankensteining (i.e. implementing parts from other presets into yours) and see if it does any good and combine it with your own work.

Weird interpretation. You should look at the slope, not absolute values, because those models are not equal to start with. The point of this graph is to show that all models equally suck at disentangling complex contexts, at least in the worst case scenario, as NoLiMa is intentionally randomized to test pure generalization ability. It also doesn't test reasoning models which are slightly better at this due to extra processing (especially Gemini which is also generally better in everything), but they still suck. You'll have to do summaries with any model anyway, and not the usual kind - asking for the sequence of events is probably the least useful way to do it. Compressing the story into a fixed reference point and trimming the history to a minimum is better for other reasons than long context performance, long history is just confusing for all current models.

You should see if you like model outputs in the first place, not look at benchmemes. This stuff can be mitigated.

You might not notice a difference especially after one response, but knowing this, it's possible to poke around at the beginning of chat out of boredom and discover this is the case (model thinking you said it) that doesn't happen on typical models.
