Hello sรณyim, I need a cable rec to replace the non matching cable that came with the illustrious. 4.4 or modular termination and relatively thin, 2 or 4 strands, preferably no branding. Anything under $300 is fine.
>>105726659the two most important factors you should take into account is the hardware, which needs to be reflective, and the gold accents of the illustrious, which should be either supported or complemented by the cable.
i would recommend looking at the usual xinhs/ivipq and related stores. with them, the only thing you need to worry about is the cable itself, as the hardware and terminations are customizable. branding you will have to discuss with them, but most will have their brand name on the termination (not sure for modular).
zisin-30, zisin 80, ivipq-84, ivipq-178 are all yellow/gold cables, but you should be looking at others yourself

I would pay 200$ for it. I know that this is a pipedream because it would cannibalize sales of a few other products. But I just want a do it all with this kind of aesthetic + physical buttons. I dont need touch screens.

Like bro you're appealing to no one's knowledge levels right now with how the guide is currently written. It's way too complex and terribly written for beginners, and doesn't contain info that any experts would get out of it either. So I just don't know who this guide is written for.
>>105731072Beginners should git gud.

>>105731072i mean i agree, but at what point do we cut off?
are we talking about complete newbies, or ones that at least know what eq is about?
the guide is best suited for the latter, i find the progression logical but a bit too much in the beginning
>>105731121A guide can't make someone gud. First you git gud then you read the guide. If you think "step 1: here's how to press a button in autoeq" is too hard for the beginners then there's genuinely nothing that could help them.
>>105731151The problem is step 1 is immediately followed by "draw the rest of the fucking owl". It goes straight from AutoEQ to a vomit overload of information.
>>105731151>>105731159he has a point, the first few parts are pretty simple
the ordering of certain parts could be improved (like take some parts from the intro and put them later since they're only relevant then) but if you're complaining about having to read a bit of text then i'm not sure if that's the way to go about it
>>105731159Guides be like: just put the AKG into the NGEEOE and FAG the DAP
Just got my pair of EDC Pros in the mail. Wondering what EQ settings you guys use? Tried importing autoEQ settings from squig but I wasn't a fan of how it sounded.
>>105731072>>105731159It's information. Foundational knowledge and 101 (the whys and hows) should be covered, and that takes words. If you think another resource is useful, free of fallacies, and has high-quality information, share it.
Most retard normies are happy with the retard normie solution: autoEQ.
Now imo this deluded generations of listeners (along with openback headpos like HD6xx), but that's a tangent. Dumb normies use EQ in the dumb way and are satisfied.
If you want to get deeper, it's deep. No two ways about it. If people want to get deeper, they need to learn how discerning they need to be about the validity of measurements, understand the interaction their personal ear anatomy has, etc. which are factors directly influencing how a person should be EQ'ing.
Again, to lay all that out like I am takes lots of words.

I'm using Dunu SA6 Mk2 and ifi Go Pods as my gym headphones but I cannot get rid of the pressure feeling in my ears when using IEMs. It's subtle now, using Boroque tips, but still there and enough to annoy me. What are 'the ultimate ear tips' - or do I just have to buy a bunch of different shit to try?
I am not an music/headphone guy whatsoever, just dont care about the hobby. Anyway I am interested in bt inears, they MUST be wireless otherwise they are useless to me, thats a must and they should be preferably from a good brand like shure or westone(sorry I am not really familiar with actual good brands). Is this even a thing or is bt still considered junk and is getting avoided by proper brands? Last time I looked was 8 years ago and at the time there was no such a thing as premium bt inears. Money is concern, so no budget restriction here. Thanks
Moondrop Aria 2 any good?

>>105732732but I want an audiophile brand just with bt.

Your best bet -- and I mean it sincerely -- are headphones with active noise cancellation. Or just earplugs, those work too. But IEMs in my experience are better than regular headphones at isolation.
>>105732930Sorry, man, I think you're severely misguided here. Can't help you much more than what I already said.
Sony was at the source of high-end audio, and still pretty high up on the totem pole, right before real boutique shit. Absolute no comparison to skullcandy and beats.

Still no Xenns Top Pro or Monarch MK4 demo. Impressions are long this time so split into two parts:
>Moondrop Illustrious
Tested on Azla Crystals - Mid centric, thereโs good body to the lower-mids but female vocals still sound mildly shouty. Also slight harshness in the โSHโ and โSโ of female vocals yet treble extension sounds cut off. Like the Twilight, mid-bass is tight and controlled without bleeding into the mids. But the lack of treble extension hurts resolution, and makes the Illustrious less "technicalโ than cheaper 1DD sets.
Tip-rolling to EBT EarrBond - using deeper insertion tips helped to remedy the harshness in female vocals. But the lack of treble air/sparkle still remained.
Iโm a fan of this โflatโ tuning style but Moondropโs execution leaves more to be desired. I'd pick the Softears Twilight and Kinera ThorKing over this. 6/10.
>Moondrop Harmon
Tested on Azla Crystals - Very tizzly treble. Decent subbass unlike the illustrious but mids are really lean which paired with the boosted pinna, makes for an unpleasant contrast.
Despite being a harman set, female vocals donโt particularly sound good due to the edgy treble masking finer details in the vocals. Using narrow bore tips helped to add body back to the mids but now the treble sounds even more splashy.
I'd pick the Chopin, Supermix4 or Nova over this. Stock Harman sets are already "solved" and Moondrop is trying to reinvent the wheel here. 4/10.
>Hisenior Cano Cristales
Tested on Nicehck07s - Nice, smooth treble. Immediate improvement over the Moondrop Harmon. Super-bassy V-shape without being muddy. Boomy, thunderous bass like the Nightjar Duality, and nice, sparkly female vocals. Male vocals are acceptable.
Better midrange tonality than the Moondrop Harmon. Now bearing in mind the Cristales is a very colored set, the squig doesnโt show how intense the bass really is. Itโs like the Hype 4/Tea Pro on steroids.
I would buy this. Default bass-head rec. 9.5/10.
>>105734531 (me)
Part 2:
>Kiwi Ears Etude Feels kinda cheap, thereโs a hollow ringing sound when I tap on the shell.
Tested on the gray stock tips โ Mild V-shape, way less bassy than the Cano Cristales. I see it marketed as a basshead set, but the Etudeโs sub/midbass are middling at best. The rest of the midrange is inoffensive and female vocals is appropriately positioned within the music without sounding shouty or veiled.
Vibration module: Doesnโt really seem that noticeable. I can feel it vibrating when resting the pos on my palm, but it doesnโt translate much into my auditory experience. Kinda gimmicky and track-dependent.
But sounds decent. No glaring flaws - treble is mildly splashy and cymbals could use more air and shimmer but Iโm nitpicking. 7/10.
>Fatfreq Scarlet MiniTested on Nicehck07s - Good subbass. But very audible bass bleed into the mids. Bass decay lingers longer than the Cano Cristales. Male vocals sound overly husky. Female vocals are decent but treble is tizzy (like the Harmon).
I've heard cleaner bass. The Scarlet Mini has tons of bass quantity but at the expense of the rest of the FR. Also the Deuce is cheaper. And at its own price tier the HBB Punch & Cristales are better. The Scarlet Mini wins in sheer bass quantity but at what cost. 4/10.
>Tanchjim OriginTested on Nicehck07s โ Nice vocal centric set. Kinda enjoyable mid-bass. But incredibly tizzy/splashy treble without proper decay. Cymbal snares sound glassy. The treble timbre is distracting and fucks with the overall tonality of the set. For example, in Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga, thereโs a 4-beat drum loop at around the 1-minute mark: the tizzy treble on the Origin (and slow bass) causes the 4-beat to sound only like 2 hits. Swapping to EBT EarrBonds for deeper insertion doesnโt resolve this issue.
If I wanted a mid-centric vocal set Iโd pick the Waner 2 โ I think the $20 set unironically sounds more resolving. 3/10.
>7th Acoustics Supernova
Tested on SpinFit CP145 - Balanced sound with a slight treble emphasis. Bass is present but not overpowering, providing a solid foundation. Mids are clear and detailed, with natural vocal reproduction.
Treble is crisp and extended, adding sparkle but can be slightly sibilant. Foam tips help tame the treble a bit, but it retains its energetic character. Build quality is excellent, with a comfortable fit and high-quality cable.
Can be fatiguing over long sessions due to forward treble. Good for those seeking detail and clarity, but treble-sensitive listeners beware. 8/10.

>>105734796I tried to be more measured in my assessment but no amount of tip-rolling could fix the treble issue personally. But it looks like a common issue seeing as Munich anon also mentioned the "very gritty upper treble".
>>105734826you can change the eartips ya know
>>105734885as with everything treble, it depends on the user
I find the treble to be among the best I've ever heard. The only noticeable "issue" is vocal forwardness that can be a bit shouty, but that's about it.

what's the upper safe limit to eq bass for my zero 2?
>>105739262It's only one of a gazillion technical parameters that in their entirety determine the final result (sound), knowing about it is about as useful to you as knowing about the number of windings in the voice coil. You only need to really think about it if you're designing a driver, otherwise the result is all that matters.

My phone's jack is dying so I got the JCally JM20 MAX and they suck the battery out of my phone. My phone uses 150mAh when listening to music through the internal jack, but it uses around 350mAh with the JCally JM20 MAX. Is it because it has a separate op-amp? Would the normal JM20 or the JM6 not make the battery die twice as fast?
>>105741645Yes, the JM20 Max is only really suitable for use with a computer or something with a large battery (ie not a phone). It's also too powerful for IEMs (you're realistically not cranking it over 25% with anything you have).
The normal JM20 is the better choice when using IEMs or using it with a phone.
