This amazing little fucker has turned into the best shit test on what Linux distro you should use and support and which you shouldn't.
Distro has banned or otherwise refused to package it, in either official or user repositories? Trash that shit.
Distro is allowing it? Install it now.

So which ones are allowing it by now? We already know Artix is lolololol

OpenMandriva maintainers already announced their support for it.
A tranny at Alpine blocked it but on Mastodon he claims the drama makes it hard to establish a clear line of communication for security testing. The ball is in Metux's court for that one desu
FreeBSD are weary about it being a political fork. It's 50/50.
As >>105718341 said Metux's biggest mistake was putting that political crap in the readme. Like you can say that stuff on IRC and mailing lists but on face value it needs to be professional. If nothing else it's giving Redhat shills ammo to twist it into them being the victim.

(No surprise) it already exists in the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages?O=0&K=xlibre
(No surprise) Fedora had a proposal but it was rejected.
A Redhat shill is working overtime in the Mint forums.
Nothing I can find from Debian yet.

I saw people working on a gentoo package.
I'm on the fence about the politics in the readme. On the one hand, it could keep people away who might otherwise get it adopted. It's all the disingenuous Wayland faggots can talk about. On the other, it's a great demarcation line. Sorta like a softer version of the plus nigger license. I don't want to share space, online or otherwise, with shitlib faggots who tried to ruin everyone's lives and came close during 2020-2022.

>>105729376
Link to the Mint threads? I can see the red hatters panic. If Mint adopts it then this shit is in the big time.

Someone should also reach out to valve and run benchmarks. If this outperforms Wayland kde, get it on steams radar. They're the only reason for improvement in desktop Linux the last decade, not these freedesktop saboteurs.

There are more but I can't find it right now.
The big one I really care about is Debian which will affect derivatives including Ubuntu and Mint.
I never bought into the plusnigger license idea. It's better to be more covert and successful. Ultimately I want to destroy Redhat's influence. If Redhat loses influence on FDO it's likely Canonical and Valve will take it's place and I honestly don't know how much better that will be. Otherwise, FDO itself can lose influence by alternative standards being created, that's what Xlibre would be the start of if it gets adopted.
>If this outperforms Wayland kde, get it on steams radar. They're the only reason for improvement in desktop Linux the last decade, not these freedesktop saboteurs.
Unfortunately Valve already locked into Wayland with Gamescope.

That would be something considering how fragile they are, they literally fired or forced to quit maintainer who mispronounced other maintainer by mistake or something. They are completely captured by gender ideology and cant stop shilling LGBT, not that long ago they left X/twitter because they think Elon is nazi.

Now that wayland ringleaders pretty much exposed themselves, it will just get worse.
Will they double-down?
Now we have more datapoints on the trajectory, instead of just systemd.
It’s already slower, and once X is dead, it will really take a nose-dive. Mark my words.
Probably a rust re-write in the plans.
Also, you’re loosing general control over your own workstation. Accessibility advancements made in X over decades all have to be re-imagined from scratch as they’ve been reset to 0. (This is my line of work, we write professional software that the government uses).

I'm not fan of that guy's anti-woke manifesto, it just felt like performative crap that is really no different from the whole woke noise. But in contrary to wokies and corporates, he's showing actual results and will to work so who the fuck cares? I'll take mentally unwell schizo nazi LARPer over lazy self-proclaimed developers that refuse to develop basic features.

Gamescope has a pass because it's Valve and they pushed RH aside to make it possible, just like Hyprland. We don't care. Valve taking over the FDO is the backup plan.

getting valve to go back is wishful thinking, if that was gonna happen, the fork would have had to be 10 years ago. when wayland was really nonviable.

I do however see the possibility for Corporate clients on unix workstations (yes they still make/support them) picking it up over Xorg, if they genuinely manage to clean it up and add useful new features.

The other possibility is that it becomes some kind of unholy abomination that supports wayland clients, and competes with wayland compositiors , This is probably its best route for success, because it will allow for people to keep making their WMs and x compositors like nothing ever happened.

This guy gets it. Valve is based but they're based for the work they've done in the FDO, mostly for Wayland, that Redhat would have never done. It would be even better if they got behind Xlibre but that's unlikely. Xlibre is only based because it detracts from RH's power and specifically calls them out. But if RH lost power over the FDO itself Valve would be forced to fill that vacuum.
Also the "X is faster than Wayland" thing is kind of stupid. Wayland is a full compositor. X is just a display manager. No way Valve would push compositorless X with it's screen tearing.

small thing the modesetting driver has received some updates on the master compared to the last Xorg release, it now supports tearfree out of the box on amd and intel, and its pretty slick I gotta say, I think its slightly lower latency than the amdgpu tearfree implementation.

it also supports VRR and supposedly mixed display setups (vrr and non-vrr displays) to some degree, though I haven't been able to get it working.

Pretty sure a couple extra million people died of cardiovascular issues.
What they came close to was killing off half the population.
Thankfully, it was a sting operation, and most syringes were filled with saline.

wayland->xwayland->xclients works in 99.9% of use cases
wayland->xwayland->xephyr->xclients works in the remaining 0.1%
so there's no way I would switch distros just to avoid wayland and I actually have a niche use case for x.

I hoe the government mandates locked down windows 11 for all internet access with uncompromised hardware-to-app bootloader chains and biometrics on every usage.
