Beyond using SDXL's vae, you've got cfg set to 7 when chroma is 4.5 by default. Also, euler with sigmoid_offset is better and you don't need 20 steps for upscaling, detailing/facedetailer/hand fixing/inpainting, 12 is enough for that via Chroma.

I have two machines, both running old as fuck ryzen 7 3700x, one with a 3090, one with a 3060 ti, and the cpu is never taxed in any way when doing AI. Both machines have 64gb and I've never had any problem with enough ram when offloading.

No, its complexity depends on how you look at it. It's either:

(A) Infinitely complicated - because custom nodes means there's always more workflows using stuff you don't yet understand. No user can comprehend it all because there's always more user-made custom nodes being released.

Or (B) it's completely 100% understandable as long as you stay within your playpen and don't expand beyond that point.

In other words, it's exactly as complicated as you make it. The proper way to approach it is, you start with a workflow that you learn 100% then you add a new custom node to it, and play with it until you understand your workflow 100% again.

There's a new version of Chroma out, where he's trained the model to rescale CFG, so that CFG 1 is the same as CFG 5 from previous models. Using a CFG of 1 disables the negative prompt but increases performance by 2x.

Chromas a good model, but im finding that the model isn't really improving that much, i don't think 50 epochs is enough for it to learn most of the concepts from its 5 million data set.
