I'm still mad because a few years ago, the now Israeli-owned Simple Gallery introduced the perfect way to organize a phone gallery and literally no one noticed, and now it's lost forever.
It was a compromise between a simplified mobile grouping system and a standard PC hierarchical folder structure.
The homescreen of the app only shows:
>Folders that contain images
and
>folders that contain folders with images.
That means you got a maximum of 2 sublevels, aka 2 taps to get to the picture you need.
Meanwhile you can still manage your files like you'd do on a PC.
Nobody understood how handy it was which is probably why every subsequent fork (like the screenshot on the right) "fixed" the feature by making it fully behave like a PC, which means navigating 200 folders before getting to the picture you're looking for. Not something you want to do with a mobile file picker.
Now I'm stuck with an app that was last updated like 2 years ago despite a desperate need for bugfixes and a better UI.
