Linux isnโ€™t bad at all, but you reliance and refusal (understandably) to use alternatives to windows only programs will likely dictate how well your experience will go.
Adobe is the literal devil on Earth but people still slurp it because they have 20 years with it. And most refuse to use Gimp and so on.

I've installed Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC (not IoT) in the past week or so - I didn't notice any attempt to stop me from making a local account. I was able to do so without problems on install. You can also remove the Office 365 stuff on Pro by uninstalling it or running ShutUp10++ - or just use LTSC or IoT LTSC.

At work they forcibly upgraded my PC to Win11. So far it seems totally regressive. I right-click "open with" to open an image with Paint because it lacks an extension. Paint isn't an option. I pick "choose program" and it wants the location of the program, so I go around looking for where paint.exe is located, however, when I right click on a file there is no "Show in Folder" option. I guess they don't want us knowing about directories anymore. So I had to do it the ass-backwards way and open paint.exe off a shortcut, and then open the file from the Paint menu. What else did they break

This is exactly what they want and they'll drive the consumer market to a thin client user model. Microsoft are the gayest cunts ever, not only do they keep making these awful decisions that invade peoples privacy, the features they're releasing are dog shit and developed by jeets. I will be opting out of the computing world and spend my life touching grass fuck this shit.

Microsoft will never be able to fully implement mandatory Microsoft accounts for Win11 because schools and businesses will want local or network user accounts for administration and security purposes. The moment Microsoft takes that away, those organizations will switch to Linux where setting up those kind of accounts for everyone on a network can be done with a simple script.

if Windows were smart they would take 5 years to create a new OS and offer a built-in old Windows VM for backwards compatability when it is needed. and then just never touch the old Windows shit again, unless needed for security fixes and what not.
this will never happen tho, because too many Microsoft employees would no longer have any use.

false, because they wont' take it away without providing a cloud-only replacement for it.

like, you host your datacentre in Azure now, so therefore you can use an administrator account in Entra ID which manages the devices thru config manager. they will argue you do not need local permissions anymore. they'll eventually stop offering self-support of the OS layer in the IaaS model

Just prepare bootable USB stick using Rufus. It allows you to get rid of hardware requirements, microsoft account requirement and even disable default device encryption. It requires no skill and has nice graphical user interface. Alternatively, you can install ioT LTSC. Not only it will have no such requirements like this at the first place, but it will also have longer security updates, up to 2032. Windows ISOs as well as free activator can be found on massgrave's website.

This issue really is bad. I admin computers for a 150 employee company with a lot of laptops naturally. Microsoft will update computers and force to use a microsoft account. Users don't have personal mailboxes or personal microsoft accounts because they are expensive in large numbers. Using microsoft accounts thus is not a viable option. Fucking sucks.

I would use Linux for the laptops since I already admin about 100 Ubuntu machines but holy fucking shit it's always so full of retarded bugs that get ignored by developers.

You can use it with a local account still. Instead of asking Grok you should have used a search engine. There are two workarounds in use right now. MS is killing off the first one but you can still use the other even if you end up with an updated installer.

Stop hurting yourself and install 10 LTSC instead. Or better yet Linux.

That's not true at all, the last time I used GIMP on windows it was slow and buggy as hell, had it been better I would have kept using just like I use any other software.
It's the same reason why I stopped using Adobe products within the last few years after they went full on clouds and crap.

When you have a fresh install of Windows 11, disconnect from ethernet, hit Shift+F10 and it brings up a command prompt, then type 'OOBE\BYPASSNRO'... it will let you say that you don't have an internet connection and use a local account.
It is absolute fucking bullshit that they make us do this. I work for an MSP and we update/preload machines before we ship them out to clients.
