Today parents use technology as babysitters. The child is distracted by the bright colors of the screen and it is no longer a problem.
Leaving aside the absolute lack of vocation for parenting and focusing directly on the technological area, the relationship between families and technology was different. In the old days, machines were a novelty, they were rare and stationary. This meant that in general, a family had only one machine and it had to be accessible by everyone having to share it and everyone could see more or less what one was doing because it was installed in a point of the house easily accessible to everyone.
I think it is a good strategy to forbid minors to have phones, but it is a useless resource if the parents are useless and do not pay attention to the child in the first place. Without a caring parent, the child will find new ways to become a monster, independent of the access to the means he or she possesses.
