How do we save the internet? It's been utter dogshit for the past few years. Generative AI just made it 100x worse.
I was reading through internet archives from around 2010 and everything just seemed so much nicer. People having actual conversations and not just screaming at each other. Way better web design overall.

You can't go back, the culture that created that experience no longer exists.

By bringing back the wild west and soul of web

New culture can be created, if people are willing to abandon sterility and embrace their true selves
Remember how everybody wanted to look cool for their niche and that was fine other than some trolling? Now everybody wants to look identical to avoid le cringe

Everyone have lost their personal way of expressing anger, so they do by the modern internet approved way of saying buzzwords at each other
I have become 100% nicer by embracing my flamboyant self, yet people don't wanna do the same to their unique personalities

Internet has been downhill since the late 90s, and I'm sure some boomer vaxnigger is going to shit on me for even saying that. Once they invented blogs with comments and mod points it was fucking over.

Checked
I also consider blogs the beginning of the end. Fucking cancer, always thought so.

The thing is that until Facebook gained popularity, crappy things were tolerable and easy to avoid. You had cringe emo websites but you really had to look for them, now thanks to social media everyone is living in the same longhouse

I'm working on organizing my bookmarks, there's a lot of old content that's still good, but the dogshit algorithms won't promote it.

Just create your own internet at home with what you like. It doesn't need to have access to the outside either. It's too easy, you can scrape stuff and fill up drives right?

Bro, society is collapsing. You won't even have your own computer in in like 5 years. You'll be starving to death.

>How do we save the internet?
you cannot. it's a consequence of all retards coming in. that's all there is to it, literally nothing else.
back in the day it was made by and for certain kinds of people, and shit was kino. just stop making shit appealing to everyone/big crowds. that's literally it, for basically anything. the more the shittier it becomes. rule

You're all touching on the solution. We can't "go back". Nostalgia is a mental illness. But we can adopt the same spirit they had and make something new that's even better.
But where do we start? We need a trend people can latch onto that's scalable enough to overtake social media.

Based. People might call you a faggot but this is literally the polar opposite of being a tranny.

Now?
Impossible, cheap smartphones were the first stab and now AI the final nail in the coffin.
There is nothing you or I can do unfortunately.
Young people don't care about internet culture (either classic culture or new culture) and it's not their fault, simply they didn't grew up with it.
Save as much as you can and share it with like-minded people, there is nothing to do.
