I don’t understand how there aren’t any competitive altchans in the 20+ years of this site’s existence. Because of the lack of competition we have to wait years for basic features like MP4 support

You need to have a pretty specific niche to survive as an altchan. soijaks are an obvious example. Supposedly 420chan is big(?) but I'm not a drugfag so I have no clue about it. But it would show the same point which is that you need to focus on a specific niche. I have an idea for a mix of imageboard/booru for a niche I'm interested in but I haven't done it yet for various reasons.
I have a different idea that would probably appeal to more people though that I'll give away for free: AI porn altchan. 4chan's AI porn is split between like 5 or more boards and knowledge probably isn't shared much. The AI porn chan would consist of an imageboard, a wiki and a booru with some sort of editorial system or scoring system to be accepted into the booru to filter slop.
