GNOME is FOSS in name only, FOSS is not a license, its a mindset that GNOME devs do not share in the slightest. GNOME is easily the most antiFOSS "FOSS" software out there.
FOSS is about empowering the user, which isn't just done with source code. nuGNOME is made by retards who are so bad to even get a job at big tech as a diversity hire so they took a otherwise once good desktop that did respect FOSS ideals into their shitty OS X clone.
GNOME is everything wrong with FOSS, they always go out of their way to make it even more unusable than previously imaginable then gaslight users about it, I do not for a second belive that any of them believes or respects even the word of the FOSS licenses they use let alone the spirit, its just a they took what they could get kind of situation, had it been up to them it would be closed source just like everything else is about GNOME. GNOME is a plague on Linux and FOSS and the involved people need to be removed to prevent further harm to the wider FOSS ecosystem.
MATE could never happen today, it would get the Xlibre treatment.
