>Umm, excuse me, chuddie, but you've been enjoying that music a little too much for our taste. We're gonna pause it and turn down the volume for you... No, I don't care that you're in the middle of a workout. You're gonna damage your hearing o algo... What's that? Why did we purposely gimp the units we sell in North America and Europe by making them much quieter than the Japanese ones? Because... BECAUSE WE JUST DID, OKAY!? Trust the plan.
Why is snoy like this?

> Plays music so loud it causes hearing damage
>Sue [COMPANY] for damaged hearing cause there was no warning on [DEVICE[
>[COMPANY] limits volume with warning after prolonged use on [DEVICE]
>WHY WOULD THE JEWS DO THIS!?!?!
You all deserve your tinnitus.

I still have tinnitus from using my iPod at max volume, and that was 20 years ago. Take care of your ears OP.

I only had the volume so high to begin with because I was listening to a podcast and the volume on those is much lower than it is for music. A warning would be one thing, but pausing my audio and lowering the volume is a step too far.

The apparent volume is lower because they don't use dynamic range compression to make it maximum volume the entire time. The reason you can't hear it is because you've already fucked up your hearing by listening at unsafe levels. Take the L and save what's left of your hearing.

I had a phone with this feature and it was retarded. Wouldn't let you turn it above 80% for extended periods of time, and would always bring it back down.

WELL GUESS WHAT MY FM RADIO TRANSMITTER WAS QUIET SO I NEEDED IT AT MAX VOLUME

Doesn't matter
my phone
my device
my ears

I should be able to listen to a podcast or music in my car through a quiet FM transmitter. Not my fault daquarrious listens to it maxed out and goes deaf.

So you put yourself in a very dangerous situation where if your media changed at any point to something with normal levels, you'd have blown out your ears with your high volume, and you're mad that your device detected that and protected you from it?

How would that happen? There's nothing but podcasts on this playlist.

>so heckin dangerous!!!
The warnings happen at any volume value over 50. It can be at 51, which is comparable to whispering. I usually keep mine at 100, which is just loud enough to make out the detail in softer songs, but it can go to 120 which still is not very loud on systems ouside of Japland. OP never said he was blasting it, he just wanted to hear his podcast lol

whenever my ears ring i just take the headphones off for 10 minutes and it goes away
I've been doing this since I was 30

the device doesn't, and shouldn't know that

Yeah, that's the other thing. What the fuck is even the point of having the volume go up to 120 if you don't want people listening to their stuff too loudly?

Confusingly, it's not even 120%, just 120. So 120 is 100%. Weird shit.

Scan your podcasts with fb2k, write replaygain info into id3tags, then adjust replaygain playback preamp.
Or use an audio editor and increase gain of all files to make them reasonably louder (i.e. peaking at -3dB)
