The solution, as it's always the case with Flux, is to boomer prompt https://files.catbox.moe/j18jdg.png
The workflow may be a little confusing, I've left both options to combine two images into one and pass them separately (the latter will take twice as much time). I was using the first option btw

I think Chroma is Midjourney level at styles, and probably superior in realism and prompt comprehension.
I was doing some comparisons to prompts, eg https://promptlibrary.org/midjourney/anime-demon-girl-render/.

MJ outputs with detailed prompts were matched pretty well by Chroma. But MJ has an additional AI model that rewrites and enhances prompts, adds styles, etc. So a lot of MJ prompts can't be compared because the image wildly diverges from the prompt. MJ users might like this, but I don't see the point of generating images that are borderline random, having almost nothing to do with your intent. You might as well just look at Tumblr or Twitter or something.

Any MJ users ITT who want to provide an image and prompt to compare to Chroma?

Chroma also has the massive benefit of being a model that can be enhanced through concept specific loras and even further full finetuning.

Also unlike with Flux dev, people making loras don't have to worry if they need to pay BFL for a license.

Unless the chinks come out with the 'Wan of image models', Chroma is easily the best model for the local gen community to build an ecosystem around, uncensored, with a fully free license.

The Kontext style transfer is overall shit because Flux has very limited knowledge of styles, it will copy paste a face but it can't make it look realistic if it needs to alter it in any way, any body parts it adds/modifies gets the Flux plastic skin, etc.

It IS great for quick conceptualizing, and memes, that's pretty much it.

The hype will die faster than GPT Ghibli memes did.

>when prompting you can assume they are stitched and can just describe both?
it is technically stitched, but on the latent space, so it's a bit weird but the model has the 2 images in memory, always, so you can always reference them

Another very exciting feature about Wan that very few people talk about is that it's also a pretty solid image gen model, the major flaw it has is that the outputs are generally slopped for photorealistic stuff, but I knows more styles than base Flux last time I tried it
With a new release (Wan 2.2) they will have a chance to make the image gen component of it less slopped and with better prompt alignment. If they make it objectively better than Flux and Chroma in every regard, I don't might waiting a bit more for inference (it's a larger model afterall)

Kontext is not capable of anything unique. It just modifies an image, which is not really what most want to do since that alone confines you to a limited number of images you might not like aesthetically. Chroma can create infinite number of unique images and customize any aspect of a picture given a description. In fact, for editing tasks, if it's simple then Chroma inpainting would be preferable to Kontext usage.

That alone is not enough to replace Chroma though.

Look at imgur.com/a/flux-kontext-dev-vs-pro-vs-max-uBazRlo

That is the state of Kontext. It is very accurate and applies to humans and realism tunes (even the NSFW tunes). And we will not get a Chroma style tune anytime soon since the license doesn't allow it. The model is still distilled.

Now, if your only concern is SFW stuff and not genning humans, or animals, then it does replace Chroma. But for most who use text2img models, it does not really replace Chroma.

I do have the impression that the latest Chroma checkpoints are becoming more and more slopped, yes. Even a VHS filter prompt I used to use is not as strong as older versions. But so far, the model is still way less slopped than base Flux and has a really good Lora fine-tuning potential once it's done training (base Flux Dev is VERY resistant against film/camera specific loras for example, it still introduces plastic skin and buttchins no matter how many steps you train the loras, I don't think Chroma will have this problem)

i'm not very invested in chroma's quality or success. if it's fucked, we still have 40+ different versions to choose from, and at least we'll have learned that it's possible to reasonably uncuck a model, that it should take less than a year and under $50k, and that better things will be on the horizon.
and new models are cool, but this is the infancy of an epoch that will be as big as the change between medieval period and the modern. have fun and enjoy it all. i didn't think this would happen in my lifetime, so i know i am.

Synthetic data is bad because all ai training will generalize the data, this is the reason that even if you train on a gazillion people, if you prompt the resulting model for man or woman you will get the same generic faces. The AI has generalized them into these specific outputs.

So when you train on synthetic data you have lost so much variation and detail already, and then the new training will generalize further, losing even more variation and detail.

So, synthetic data is shit, I would only use it for lora if you want to guide real world data towards a certain look, I would never use it for a large scale finetune if I had any other choice.

You are truly retarded, you're one of those "water must be bad because drinking 10 gallons at once kills you". You can train a Lora with 20 images and prove your assertion wrong. Why synthetic is typically bad is because -- get this -- synthetic has lots of artifacts. Feel free to prove a cherry picked 20 image synthetic dataset of a concept will make a bad Lora.

The rule still applies, if you can, always avoid synthetic data.

Also given how it has already been generalised, it will train faster than non-synthetic data, meaning you need to adjust your set to accomodate for this else it will overtrain really fast.

Overall it is pure shit, it's the reason Flux can't generate a realistic person to save its life, plastic, cleft chin, deadest eyes, the same 100 poses and hand gestures recycled over and over again.
