Bad one causes HDR content to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option [Strongest].

SSD recommendations happen to be all-WD/Sandisk because they're performant in both Windows & Linux.

RX 6600 feels bad to recommend in '25.
Your best bet is the used market.

NVIDIA can afford to sell big GPUs like the 5090 because there's an enterprise market that will pay a premium for the better-binned GB202s.
AMD should be able to make good $300~$1000 cards with UDNA, they make competitive GPUs when Sony & Microsoft need them.

They should have sold the 9070 XT for 550 bucks, as AMD Unboxed advised, and everybody including myself would own one by now. Instead they made me get a 5070 Ti because it was only little more.

What I'm thinking is that, since I'm going to play games that are not so demanding, I can get myself a mid range RDNA4, and then when UDNA comes I may as well buy a flagship/high-end UDNA.
I mean, £700 for either a Sapphire Nitro+ or XFX Mercury OC MagAir RX 9070 XT seems not a good choice. £600 for a RX 9070 is acceptable to me.

AMD needs Radeon cards to generate enough profit to justify producing those GPUs over making more Epyc/Ryzen chiplets.

I'd hope so, considering it's made on the AMD-favored RE Engine.

Consider ease of resale & resell value if you plan to buy a card every generation.

Okay I fixed it and it was something stupid. I had moved the Display Port cable for the monitor from the GPU slot to the motherboard slot.

But the reason I did this, was because when I plug my TV into the PC only the motherboard slot allows the TV to get 120 FPS, when I had it plugged into the GPU it was capped at 60, so I thought the motherboard slots must be higher quality?

I removed the heatsink that was already screwed in the motherboard and I put the SSD in the socket, it clicked. So now I have to simply put the heatsink over it and screw it over the SSD(pic related the top of the pic is the underside of the heatsink, I peeled a tape that was over the white foam because it said REMOVE)? >I peeled a tape that was over the white foam because it said REMOVE
That tape kept the thermal pad in good condition until you needed to use it, the tape would've interfered with the heat transfer if you left it on.

>Is it a problem if the heatsink is a lot longer than the SSD?
No, it's good for an SSD heatsink to have a large surface area for heat dissipation.

>Do I need to do any kind of formating or installation on the computer after?
You might have to go to "Disk Management" and create a new drive partition to use that drive.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGqo17dGk0E

I would also download the drive utility to check if you need to update the drive's firmware.

even with basic shit like computer components. if i want a high-end 5090 AIB i have to pick something with the tacky veneer of a sonic level. i refuse to believe the teenagers this supposedly appeals to also has the purchasing power to get it. which begs the question who actually enjoys this crap.

Buy a card when you need it and when the price is more reasonable.
VRAM, 16GB should be enough.
People complain about the install sizes of current titles, and game devs can't afford to raise system requirements too much.
There's no incentive for console manufacturers to expand VRAM capacity if you consider the scale they operate.
>Assume $10 extra in BOM by having more than 16GB GDDR7 VRAM * 80 million lifetime Sony console sales = $800 million.

You might want to keep that 3080 undervolted and set a power limit to around 280W.
These GA102 chips have a vulnerable power delivery design, transient current spikes can slowly degrade and kill VRM components.
The spikes happen when the GPU goes from low to high loads.
Stable Diffusion can cause those spikes too.

Exactly how much benefit can be gained from ECC compatible UDIMMs on an AMD AM4 system? I have some older myriad hardware, like a 5950X, Asus ROG Dark Hero mobo etc.. that I'm planning for rebuilding my new NAS/home server box. While I know they can't handle RDIMMS, just regular UDIMMs for the RAM, I know that some AMD platforms can enable ECC if your RAM supports it. Exactly how much benefit would I get for something like this?

Normally I'd just grab 32GB or 64GB of DDR4 3600mhz CL16 or so (I'm not sure how stable 4 sticks would be, so I'd try for 2x 32GB first if I can find it, rather than 4x 16GB) and know that will have good compatibility and performance with a 5950X for general NAS/server-y stuff. Its been hard to find ECC UDIMMs in DDR4 anyway, much less in a 64gbdual channel kit. They only seen to go up to 3200mhz at the top and much higher latency which I guess is expected (ie CL22), but the prices are significant and there are very few option - even like.. Crucial PRO is NOT ECC compatible. This is the only stuff I've found - https://www.newegg.com/owc-64gb-ddr4-3200-cas-latency-cl22-memory-black/p/0RN-0031-001B7 - and its $218, when I can pick up more conventional RAM for half that price or less.

I've seen the argument that ECC without being Registered (RDIMM, which of course I can't actually use on existing mobos) isn't a huge benefit, especially for a home server sort of situation and not some business. Where the benefits of ECC seem nice, apparently its not very likely to run into those kind of mistakes prevented by ECC on a home server usage and thus isn't worth going out of your way for ECC? Is this accurate pretty much and as evidenced by the lack of ECC capable UDIMMs? It is nice that AMD X570 mobos (and later chipsets on AM5) support ECC if you have compatible RAM but it doesn't seem to have caught on..at least not back in the AM4 days?

For stable diffusion your CPU doesn't matter at all, Vram + Ram is king try to get if you can't get a 5090 get a 4090 or 3090, 24 gigs of vram really makes running flux alot easier. You need a 1k PSU for this level of gpu. 64 gigs of ram is really helpful you will be happy for that.

Everything else doesn't justify the price 2tb nvme, even if the hdd is 8tb who uses hardrive these days? They couldn't give you 4-8tb NVME at this price?

>TVs have absolute dogshit picture quality and have shitload of ghosting
TVs have the best HDR available with 2000nits in small windows and 400-500 nits full screen SDR OLED images
as far as the ghosting goes, TVs now have 165hz, aside from going up to 240hz or more on monitors that have less blurring, yes, they are worse, TVs used to have strobing like features like on the LG CX that could give you 120hz strobing to give you 300hz motion clarity, but they removed the feature too

Dude... what the fuck does this mean? I keep having this issue where games on fullscreen or windowed fullscreen are capped at 90 fps no matter what, unless I enable vsync. The only game where this isn't a problem is minecraft. So for example right now I'm testing with fortnite, windowed fullscreen and fullscreen both are capped at 90 fps, but as soon as I turn the game into windowed (doesn't cover my entire screen) my fps shoots up to 300.

I've spent the last hour or so with chatgpt going through all of my monitor + driver settings trying to figure out what's going on, and I can't fix shit. I just did a full factory reset of my monitor's internal settings and now chatgpt is telling me to use this CRU tool to check out what's going on.

Does anyone understand this shit? Windows says the refresh rate is 165, AMD says the refresh rate is 165, but now here it's saying 60-90hz. WTF?

Would it be better to get a PCIe adapter for SATA SSDs or for NVMe?
I have two options. Use a PCIe adapter for an NVMe drive and leave my second NVMe slot on the mobo empty (and have the two SATAs at the bottom active), OR put an NVMe drive into the second slot, deactivating the two bottom SATA slots and getting a PCIe SATA adapter to continue using those two drives.
I'm kinda skeptical regarding PCIe NVMe adapters. And yes, I need those two SATA slots. I'd like a second NVMe drive, but I don't want to just ditch 750GB (at the minimum) worth of SATA SSDs.

4090 & 5090 are mostly novelty projects for NVIDIA (bragging rights), their 102/202 tier chips have a more lucrative customer base (workstations & servers) justifying the development & cost of these massive chips.
Radeon GPUs don't have that market demand, and gamers already complain about their cards being sold at $700.

Even if Radeon released a big GPU that performs within 10% of NVIDIA's, people are going to say it needs to be $500 or more cheaper.

Because people still play games with crappy laptops? A shitty $250 or even $400-500 laptop isn't meant for playing video games, especially not current ones. People who play very light games with crappy/old hardware skew the numbers, same how internet cafes skew numbers too, as the same PC could potentially count hundreds if not thousands of times towards the survey. Most gaming cafes use mid-range GPUs, but that can very a lot too, depending on if it's a country like China/Japan or some SEA shithole where you're getting RX 580s and 1060s from a decade ago. Point being is you can't really trust Steam's numbers. At most you could trust numbers found on here or on internet forums dedicated to gaming. Those forums would weed out most cafe and $250 laptop owners and for the most part just be people who actually have a PC meant for playing games.

Mhm, but the point is it's still skewed. Last time I've checked iGPUs made up like 15-20% of all graphics cards in the survey. 20% isn't nothing, same how you really can't count an aging system, to determine how many people actually buy x80 ti/90 cards. I had a 1060 6GB and an old-ass 2013 i7 equivalent till 2 months ago. Should my stats count towards determining how many people buy the 5080 and 5090? Obviously not.
