We're entering a pretty cool era of flat design mixed with Y2K and Aero sensibilities, especially with things like Liquid Glass, and blur in general being more used, it's the best of both worlds and I'm happy to see it.

Everyone had access to a smart phone, Apple did some downsizing and fired everyone involved with graphic design and Microsoft was desperate to get into smart phones and tablets too. It was both a cost cutting measure and a move in the phonefag space. Once the dust settled the damage was irreversible. Flat design is a true match made in hell.

i remember getting a polished aluminum shuttle pc and the whole quicksilver aesthetic all over the box and documentation is stuck in my mind forever. graphics cards dont even have women on them anymore...

If you want to know how good UI really looks like, seek for control panels/software to real stuff like power plants or tunnels not to FB machines.
