Improvedtube has a bunch of options that don't even fucking work and a bunch that barely work, but I still need it for those that something else doesn't have or also has but even more broken, because everything is broken. Of course it already has an option to disable auto-dubbing, does it fucking work? Of course not. Maybe for some people on some configs, occasionally, as long as you don't watch anything in private/incog mode. And I don't even use the site much at all, but I can't stand dealing with its bullshit when I do.

Maybe I need to update MPV, maybe it doesn't like my portable_config, and maybe I can't be fucking bothered to troubleshoot this either. Especially when they'll probably eventually break again, and I'll have to manually update them if there's an update at all. And IIRC when I last tried the thumbnail script, it was so spaced out even on offline videos that I just dropped it.

Another issue is that sometimes I actually want to see the description or the occasional odd comment that's actually useful (with timestamps, for example).
MPV does seem to load yt videos ahead a lot better than when I last paid attention to it, though. So there's that.

Well think of it like this. A place where foreigners stay in an area with lots of sex tourism is bound to be staffed by both foreigners and locals. Yes because I use them a ton. I've got thousands of channels (mostly Indian slop tbqh) blocked using BlockTube for example, putting all of them through uBlock filters or css would probably be a hassle. And I'll admit I don't have the time nor the knowledge to code everything myself, I at most edit some userscripts or filters when they're not working well enough.

You made me curious since Enhancer for YouTube does change the theater mode ratio for some reason. Apparently there are ways to do it, even with uBlock or with userstyles (such as Stylus, but you can probably make a monkey script as well). And a couple of extensions that allow fullscreen theater mode:

Yeah, don't bother, that one is just an updated version of an old extension. The High Definition one is old as well, but seems to work better. Install Stylus and copy the pastebin from Reddit into it, you just open YouTube, click the extension and click "Write style for" then paste it there.

Have another one as a bonus in case you might want more thumbnails per row (adjust the pixels and the numbers per row according to your needs):

i looked into the before and the issue is that my youtube client has its own extractor and sends direct links to mpv so if it needs to be an mpv playlist then all links need to be extracted
link extraction take time and is only valid for a certain period
i could just send youtube webpage links but that would require yt-dlp which works poorly with mpv for streaming
for the mpv plugin version i thought about watching playback status and auto add the next item to mpv playlist when the current is about to end, probably will add it later

Have you ever been abroad? Even in Japan, I only needed a translation app because I don't eat meat and they love putting it into everything. Marinated eggs? Have some pork extract. Fuck you. Also, if you're moving inside Europe, you might be able to make out most words in the supper market, but that doesn't mean you want websites or full YouTube videos in that language. I can read restaurant menus in most non-Slavic European languages (no Finno-Ugric or Basque pls), and only occasionally need to look up a word.
