what year are you from? Live distros have been a thing for ~25 years, if you need maximum security. Removing the SSD would depend on the laptop(soldered or not). But booting from an external drive is not an issue. You can also fully install linux to a flash drive, though it will be slower

Fedora KDE is the best just works distro now. linuxmint is stuck with a 2010's looking DE

the only difference is the packaging and distro specific theming and configuration of the same packages, but iirc fedora keeps packages very close or equal to upstream

the only thing lacking on linux mint is an official KDE version

any linux guy would like to answer my questions about mint? specifically gaming.
i'm thinking about fully switching to mint on my old laptop but i'm having doubts.
i like to mod the shit out of my games and i play STALKER GAMMA but i heard linux can't run PowerShell scripts? GAMMA uses PS for installation and plebbitors say you need to use a VM to install it, which completely misses the point of having linux to me. am i going to have a mental breakdown trying to troubleshoot it?
i also play some old/obscure games and visual novels, are they going to work with some linux magic?
also my CPU is kinda busted and i need to disable BD PROCHOT in Throttlestop, otherwise it throttles at 0.79ghz (temps are fine, it's just retarded) and Throttlestop doesn't work on linux apparently, but there must be some kind of alternative program for it, right?
