There isn't enough usable time left in my life to get good at it, so in practice I'd need to hire animators, and also a producer because you can't JUST hire animators, plus an episode director because that's a separate thing that I'm probably too stupid to do, and also some background artists...
Even if we assume that I could somehow learn to draw and animate and would be able to finish an animation project sometime before my suicide, I would probably need to quit my job to make time for that, and then figure out how to pay for food, rent, utilities, taxes, etc.

Watch some making of docs from anime studios it's pretty fascinating, animators are often part of a hierarchy where the lead animator only draws keyframes (or the most expressive parts of a keyframe), and desu a lot of the look of modern anime is from post production. At least at ghibli in the early 00s one guy was using software to generate inbetweens, but he was still manually editing most of the interpolated lines. Kind of? I wish I could make good art without needing to invest a double digit number of years into it, but to me "good art" implies "quality" which is absolute and "uniqueness" which is relative to other art.
If we had AI models that increase the low water mark for "quality" - which is kind of a dubious prospect in itself - that wouldn't do anything for "uniqueness". I feel like there's a good chance you would still need to put many years of work in to form a unique style.

Documentaries tend to capture the depressing mood of real studios a little too well, I just rewatch Shirobako every couple of years instead.
There's also some nice material on youtube like Tonari Animation (or there was, it looks like they've purged some stuff I liked :/)
For me it all just reinforces how hard keyframing is though.

We'll reach a point where a lot of CGI is replaced by AI. The main problem is consistency and that will probably always be a tradeoff when using AI. If you don't want slop you'll have to at least draw the essential parts like characters and then use pose control and first/last frame to fill in the gaps. The problem is all of this is still a ton of work.

Drawing is a memory puzzle game. You have to study and memorize the human muscular and skeletal systems from all angles first. Then master perspective and foreshortening. Come the grips that this will take years to do and won't happen overnight.

This thread, as every other AI thread, demonstrates the main issue: 99% of people are not creative. It's just "What if existing character did this" or "what if existing thing but filter applied?"
People without creativity are asking for the ability to create things, but if you can't do it you simply can't do it. If an AI can do it, you're not part of the process.

The industry was doing a lot better(still bad but "better" as in better than today) and more equipped back then. Animation in general, not just Japanese. The early 2000's was an interesting period because everyone was slowly switching to digital animation and going from hand drawn to digital was a pretty big change so a lot of animation back then was just animators experimenting with various art styles and directions.
