So I recently kiked out and bought a chink bone conducting bluetooth headset. Unsurprisingly they kinda suck and it feels like someone is banging a drum on my cheekbones. However for some reason not advertised on the packaging it has a micro SD slot so I got excited, filled an old micro SD card I had lying around with MP3s and meekly anticipated freedom from the laggy/stuttering bluetooth menace. It didn't fucking work.

EXCEPT for 1 MP3 file I created in the 2010s and even then it only plays for about 3 seconds and then loops infinitely. I tried removing the ID3 tag, it failed to play. It's using ID3v2.3 UTF-16 tag so I tried upgrading it to a ID3v2.4 UTF-8 one and downgrading it to a ID3v2.3 ISO as well but both caused the MP3 to completely fail to play.

So I guess the firmware is chinked beyond hope but could there be a way to get this cocksucker to play MP3s? What could this broken firmware be looking for?

My bad it's RBK5002 and there's absolutely nothing in there about this mysterious micro SD slot or what audio codecs it supports. I've tried WAV/AAC/WMA and they all fail except that one MP3 file. I''ve been trying older versions of LAME with no success, it's like this fucking chink firmware is looking for something in the ID3 tags.

i'd try a different microsd card and maybe different formatting options
also i'd make sure the mp3s are 128 kbps cbr, some chinkshit has problems with vbr or high bitrates.
but considering that the manual makes no mention of the microsd card slot... what if it just doesn't work
like maybe during the design process they started implementing this but then decided nah fuck it just send it

AYYY I got it to work with 8KB allocation unit size and FAT32. WAV or 320k CBR MP3 does not work but at least 192k CBR MP3 does and it looks like it doesn't care about ID3 tags anymore, they play fine with or without them.

The sound quality difference between bluetooth SBC and 192k MP3 encoded by high quality LAME is fucking orgasmic, holy shit.

btw thanks a ton anon, for not only being the only one to show up to my ted talk but I had spent last night fucking with different ID3 tags and hadn't considered a different formatting option to be a solution. Not sure why it worked but GeetPT said this:

>Your typical Bluetooth headset probably has less than 1MB of RAM, often much less. Most of the storage capacity is on microSD cards or internal flash memory, whereas RAM is used for temporary data buffering and control processing.

>Devices with limited RAM or buffer sizes might struggle with larger clusters because they need to load bigger chunks of data, possibly causing delays or buffer underruns leading to playback looping.

Anything more than 192k CBR MP3 is failing to play so maybe this headset has 24KB of RAM? That might also explain why SBC through bluetooth sounds like ass, it's probably limited to 192k as well but it's nowhere near as good as LAME HQ encoding...
