I'm old ass faggot that switched on linux around 2005-6 and never felt the need to jump through hoops in designing my desktop experience, basically my 20ish fucking years on linux can be summarized in having either a gnome2-like configuration (2 bars, programs splitted in 2 main menus and workspaces) or the OS/2 Warp lookalike experience (a single bar on top with a main menu and all sorts of switches, dials and indicators i need there) with a dark or semidark precooked theme enabled.
