>>105793480 This window adapter was relatively easy and quick to set up. Before that I would cut holes in sheet if foam core and use it to cover window hole.
>>105793206 (OP) >>105793222 Why do glowies keep spamming threads about AC when basically everywhere on the planet has multiple types of air conditioners available, and the selection of one for a given space is mostly about the limitations of the space it will be deployed in rather than the average price point of a given type?
>>105793222 This meme makes no sense. Window units also have air filters. They both work exactly the same, the split units are just better separated so you get more efficiency and less noise. Mini splits can also provide heat in winter (down to a certain temperature) more efficiently than electric baseboards. They're way more expensive though and a window unit will get the job done for 1/4 of the price, although it'll be less convenient.
>>105793206 (OP) Mini splits seem like a lot of work, hardware, and cost to cool just ONE room Maybe if you lived in a big studio apartment or something Otherwise, either window units or central AC makes more sense.

>>105793950 This is why american AC units have a reputation for being janky. They worked fine when built, but americans literally do not know how to maintain their machinery.

>>105793619 this is actually a real first aid tactic. people who get heat stroke are sometimes given ice cold fluids by the ass because your buttmeats both absorb fluids very well and it's the only orifice you have that isn't designed to be mostly temperature-resistant on the inside (and less importantly won't cause you to die by filling it with water)
These threads always make me laugh because I live in a hot place yet never think about temperature because inside my home it's the same temperature year round.

>>105793480 what if we made the air conditioner itself fit into the window and you can just leave it there all the time

>>105793240 this works quite well especially with the fan trick, but you have to do it when ambient is the coldest (which is usually right before dawn). and if you live in a humid climate it never gets cool lmao
>>105794758 literally the only thing wrong with this is riding the wall. If it was just two bends it would be completely fine, and maybe even a little bit beautiful in its own way.
>>105797498 I cover mine with cheap mosquito mesh that I buy for $4 from amazon. Cut them to size and secure the sides. Fixed the stink bug problem. But tiny insects still get through I guess.

>>105793437 not really. having the condenser inside is retarded, but you at least need both the exhaust and intake outside. otherwise the condenser input air comes through the house from outside.
>>105793206 (OP) I live inawoods in a van down by the river. I have to run on solar, and lithium batteries when theres no sun, so the mini split is the only way. its been like 103f over the last week, and the system is working great.
>>105793206 (OP) This in my fucking face. Until it gets hot enough that even that no longer helps, then I try the ice bowl trick which makes it feels like my guts are freezing and I die. It's also the only thing that makes me miss wearing glasses, because I don't recall them getting so dry from it before I got lasik.
