Nah. Plenty of old phones out there. You can get them cheap or even get broken phones and repair them. In China they pretty much strip phones and rebuild them because they are good at that.

And why don't they use an emulator? Because apps can often detect if you use an emulator, so they can ban you. However if you do it from an actual phone chances are much lower and you can continue your dirty business much longer.

There's a reason for those lights. If you pay attention closely you will see that none of the phones show anything on the screen only that green blinking.

The blinking light is just an activity light and you get only that on the screen to save power. The screen is one of the components that consume the most power in a phone, so of course you don't want to piss away power for no good reason. Efficiency is key here.

Another reason why not the entire screen is on is heat. The screen generates heat as well. Why would you want another heat source? SoC is not enough for you?

Third, how would you know which phone died if it needs replacement? If the phone doesn't blink anymore it is safe to say that it crashed or died. Replacement will be much easier.
