If you want something to sleep in, get whatever final E series has your preferred amount of midbass. my e3000s are genuinely the comfiest pair I own, and the warmth helps with low-volume listening. Transducers are always orders of magnitudes worse than electronics, so you're always "bottlenecked" compared to any dac and it's nothing to worry about.

With what's available of either brand, they're mostly the lower-end models and at much higher prices from what I've seen, but maybe some are okay. You can use exported equalizer presets from squig.link to be your global eq in Linux if you use Pipewire. First, place the txt files from squig.link into a directory of your choice. Then, for each eq preset, create a file $HOME/.config/pipewire/pipewire.conf.d/.conf with the following content:

context.modules = [
{
name = libpipewire-module-filter-chain
args = {
node.description = ""
media.name = ""
filter.graph = {
nodes = [
{
type = builtin
name = eq
label = param_eq
config = {
filename = "/path/to/.txt"
}
}
]
}
audio.channels = 2
audio.position = [ FL FR ]
capture.props = {
node.name = "effect_input."
media.class = Audio/Sink
}
playback.props = {
node.name = "effect_output."
node.passive = true
}
}
}
]

Restart Pipewire, and now you have a new output device for each eq preset. I have written some shell scripts that automate this task.

hexa, zero:2, nova, aful explorer, cadenza, delci and zero reds. none were "bad" but it seemed like none of them fully combined bass, clarity, neutrality and physical comfort (the delci just plain didn't fit my ears) like the volume s seem to so far. my favorite of the bunch was the hexa by virtue of their clarity but they also had zero bass and just felt kinda sterile and boring. he meant soulseek lol
if you want a digital music collection, there are a few things we need to know
>how large is your expected library
>how do you want to organize it
>what do you plan on using it for
the methods for getting the music are very simple; it's everything after that that is important, and will influence what you will do to get said music
Anonymous No.105812983 >>105813020

Maybe like 1000 songs?
>how do you want to organize it
Mostly by genre and some custom playlists
>what do you plan on using it for

>Mostly by genre and some custom playlists
so will you be downloading whole albums, or just selected songs that you enjoy? this will determine the file organization that you choose.
most people here i'm assuming are grouping their music files under artist > album, and in music player creating their own playlists from said files
tagging by genre is also the preferred method, i know of no one that organizes their files in genre folders
>I got an old iPod and want to fill it up again with the music I listen to nowadays instead of relying on streaming from Spotify
most people first create a desktop library, then transfer songs to their mobile devices. do you plan on doing so (creating a desktop library and listening from there)?

Yeah desktop library and then transferring to the iPod is the plan since I already have a lot of music on my computer from years ago.
Probably mostly just selected songs that I enjoy but of course if the album has enough good songs I listen to on it I usually try to go for that.

then it really depends on how you plan on organizing. i'll let you figure that out, but as long as you keep organization consistent it shouldn't matter much
as anon said, soulseek is probably yout best bet. use the nicotine+ client (more modern and more features), and download songs you like
in your case, i doubt that file formats will matter much (flac, mp3, etc). flac is useful because it is a lossless format: great for archiving as it can then be converted to any other format. mp3 is lossy, so conversion from it is not ideal, but it is an order of magnitude smaller in size than flac
private trackers are a second option, but i don't think they're worth the effort for you right now
you can also peruse through this site for a ton of good resources. https://fmhy.net/audiopiracyguide

I don't care about audio quality because i mostly use it for books. The issue i have is that vlc is shit (bad ui and lots of playback issues) and mobile doesn't have any better alternatives. I was kinda hoping that purpose built devices would of put a bit more attention into these things and also the headphone jack would be nice.
