The time I would defend OLED panel is on laptop because the response time on the IPS panel is god awful. Especially Macbook which suffers double the smear than even the bottom of the barrel laptop

It's the other way around. sRGB doesn't need color management and is thus free from conversion artifacts.

Yes. The linear portion continues a bit into the low sRGB range, so you would expect to see multiple bands, not just a single sharp cutoff like in the picture.
