what are some ways of making sure your boss tells you to go away without being annoying enough to be fired with an actual argument?
I already told my boss I'm tired of all this bullshit. they know I'm looking for another job. why don't they just let me go?
>>105813682Why would they fire you if they have to give you something? Theyโre going to make youโre life hell until you quit, retard.
>>105813770Shit on a desk. Simple as.

What the fuck did you just say about AI replacement you CEO bitch? I'll will have you know if your ambition goes only so far to see AI as substitute for humans to do the same unit of work instead of aiming for the stars and conquering new markets you are no visionary and failed as a leader. You think you can get away with pacifying shareholders with mass layoffs across the board? Think again fucker. As we speak there are people not obsessing over the next quarterly earnings call but busy building superior experiences and raising the bar which will undercut your margins big time. Your entire business model is being targeted for disruption right now so you better prepare for the paradigm shift, maggot. The storm that wipes out your pathetic little thing you call your market share. You are a living fossil, kid. These people can code circles around your army of jeets just with access to the relevant RFCs. They are more than capable to utilize the best in class language models to their full extent. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little โcleverโ cost-saving measure was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't and now you are going to be outcompeted, you absolute clown. AI will shit all over your technical moat and your product will drown. You are fucking deprecated, kiddo
I've been interning at a place for a while now and everyone seems to really like me and I've been doing good
My boss gave me a personality test & a pseudo IQ test which they only give to people whom they are considering giving a job
Is this just a formality or will they actually not hire me if the results on these tests are not up to par with their standards ? What the fuck is the point of a personality test if theyve been working with me for over a month ?
>>105815078>30Unless you're in an area like me where there are only 20-40 jobs a day then that's fucking nothing. If you're American you should have 10x that before starting to be disappointed.
>>105813627 (OP)Why is "tech workers" only code monkeys. My cousins a nuclear engineer studying the future. I hope you all get fired & he gets a raise.
>>105815107Not a formality. They don't usually give any tests for intern to fulltime transitions. Might actually be a formality for NOT upgrading you (i.e. need to document why you're getting laid off) but hard to tell without knowing your company.
>>105815129>why is tech workers only workers in techAnd this is why your cousin gets paid peanuts
i own 49% of a SaaS company and we're at the stage where we're hiring people and financially it is FAR MORE beneficial to hire outsourced workers, which ive done before. even from an IRS perspective, we're practically invited to never hire americans.
thought you guys should know. also, american taxes and how we spend them have pissed me off so bad that we're going to move the company to a country with a better tax situation.
trump made this better, but when "all the money is being wasted" was completely confirmed, and we still have to pay these taxes, its a way harder sell.
good luck getting jobs, my advice is become a remote worker for multiple companies and just do the ai hustle shit.
>>105815164Can you pay in crypto?
>>105815122rural florida, >10 IT jobs in my town and thats counting helldesk
>>105815111No, but I'm an autistic IT guy. I fumble the approach every time even though I have a good relationship with most of the staff. Even the nurse I did go out with initially turned me down and only agreed a week later after she realized she had no other prospects.
It doesn't help I only want to date white women, if I branched out further I probably wouldn't have as much trouble.

Need a QRD on the real life adoption of Blazor (EU), some people say it's a meme piece of shit and others claim it's gaining popularity... not mutually exclusive of course, but I'd like to hear your take. Is it purely government stuff?
>>105815650It probably wasn't my worst idea, not that I'm suggesting it to others. It wasn't all bad though and it was a useful learning experience.
My plan was to work nights, chat with everyone and get to know them, then weed out non-dating material and work on the potential candidates. That part went well, you can see pretty quick who's worth talking to, who shows interest, and women love to gossip so you can learn about others' past pretty quick. The hard part was approaching them, you don't want to just ask them out on a date in front of all of their coworkers and most of the time they usually have a few around and you ideally want them to be in the mood to be receptive for a date.
Far better on the selection process than dating sites but harder on actually landing a date. The job wasn't one I planned to have for a long time anyway, I took it because it was easy work while I went for more education so if I royally fucked things up I'd be moving on anyway.

People will uae it against you, people will talk about anything you say about other people. People will try to get you to expose your feelings about coworkers and bosses as well as politics. Never say a bad thing about anyone unless it is completely fucking egregious and then tell your boss first, in private.
>>105824326Yeah thats the plan as indicated by the 2 year time frame
>>105824336Iโm just saying you dont even have your CCNA yet, I know everyone pretends itโs easy but you may need to check your ego a bit. Then after that you need to take the ENCOR, and you should really take a concentration exam for the CCNP not only because itโs smart but because itโll also help prepare you for the CCIE. Then if youโre somehow experienced enough to attempt the CCIE understand itโs expensive, long, and most people fail their first time. You may need to alter your expectations, itโs not a test you just study for lots of experience is needed.
CISSP can be gotten through connections, a military guy I know had his CO vouch for his experience, but that test is also not a joke. Saying youโre doing all this in two years when you donโt even have the CCNA probably isnโt realistic but I know how people on /g/ are, youโll probably claim to be a top level FAGMAN or whatever but donโt set yourself up for failure. Take it slow.
>>105824327I go full J-Woke on any co-worker who I remotely believe to be sympathetic to my based causes. I've established an alliance across multiple companies I've worked for (and several others that I never will) called "The Brotherhood of Leisure". The first vow of The Brotherhood is to admit the futility of work as a corporate peon. We've orchestrated a plan across industries to make the software landscape as mediocre as possible, lowering the expectations of MBAs and airhead middle-managers alike to the point where if they so much as so get a "hello world" by the end of the week that's considered a milestone. The Brotherhood of Leisure recognizes that competition is the way of the vain man, and that co-operation is the one of longevity. In competition, the higher you go the closer to the sun you get, and the more likely you are to burn. In co-operation, we can gently row a boat down the River Styx and watch each Icarus catapult himself one side of the river to the other. We're never truly dead but we're never truly alive either. We're men who row down the stream, watching others come and go, we're merely observers for other men's more audacious and hubris games. The Brotherhood of Leisure is controlled mediocrity in a world where exceptionalism is exploited.
my current dream regarding my job is this:
having my current employer fire me and having no one else hire me. this would force me to reevaluate my whole life, to do something else (start a business, invest my savings, become a bug bounty hunter, whatever), and to start doing it ASAP.
why is this my fantasy, and why aren't I doing something else already? because of golden handcuffs. I fucking hate this shit, but I'm too coward to let my current economic status (I save most of my salary in a savings account that gives me 5%/yr of interest).

I currently work at an HPC center in Germany, because that's the best a Yuropoor like me can do. But even in this job very few are actually interested in writing performant codes. Most just want to use the clusters.
I eventually want to move away from this job because, temp contacts, low pay, shit location, and you only move up by brownnosing the right people. Not to mention that the amounts of corruption and wasting of tax money that I see all around me makes me really upset. But prospects elsewhere seem dim right now. Most dumbasses can coast through college but alot of mid range GPA holders are only getting those grades since there learning on the side about the subject. Atleast from what i have seen. In the case of CS you really have to learn on the side, internships, even boot camps to get the topics being taught with a functional aptitude of understanding.
In the case of IT degrees can help with writing, organization, big picture topics such as questioning WHY something has to be done and the likes. What it barely teaches you is actual IT skills needed in the work place. Its why you often hear that getting or atleast learning the CompTIA trifecta will get you ahead in your career. Understanding and obtaining specialized certs will actually get you paid however.
I thought CISSP got jeetified? I have the experience and thought about going for it but it kind of seemed like
>don't bother unless your job is asking you to do it
(kind of like an MBA)
>>105824829Enterprise software exists so that when things go wrong you can go bitch to the company that provides it.
>>105827274Yes same with PMP but that is now fully open to anyone who applies. Unless you need it do not bother. If you want to read it for the sake of it then go for it. Not like college textbooks have taught anything new in the past 20 years on tech.
I'm out of college at my first dev job for a year, I'm just trying to get some perspective, how close is this is to average?
>3-4 meetings per week, taking up around 4 hours total
>5 remote days per 2 weeks
>in person days I'd say I spend on average 5-6 hours writing java code and the rest on meetings and miscellaneous tasks
>remote days unless I'm behind I usually do only a few hours of non-meeting work and I really don't feel bad or worried about it since I'm still pushing more code and getting less feedback on it than the other guys in my role, and also we usually clear out all the tickets and get bottlenecked once every month or so anyway
>my cubicle is on a different floor than the rest of my team so I really only talked to my coworkers a couple of times each outside of teams
>team kinda mangles use of version control, like we often are all on the same branch and it's like a 75% chance you get a merge conflict every time you push anything. The boss keeps saying we'll get more organized at some ambiguous point in the future
>no pay rise this year
God Dammit. Why am I even in this industry?
I wish I didn't have a headache three hours into my Monday...
>>105827497Put some salt in your water and it should go away.
>>105827445I got a 1% raise at least and I'm pissed too. There's just a weird disconnect between me slowly not caring about stuff and coworkers who still care too much, or do they feel the same way too? idk
All I know is I don't give a fuck I'm just clinging to my boomer corp job til the next grift comes along.
>>105827515Thanks anon I'll go do that now.
>>105827497kek this is me but its 1700
Necking a pint has resolved it, ticket closed
>come back after a week long vacation

>delete every notification, play koyaanisqatsi ost in the background and pour myself a whisky on the rocks
>>105813682The way to get laid off is to work exactly 37.5 hours each week. Start at the same time each day. Take your 30 minute lunch at the same time each day. Stop working at the same time each day. Do this without regard for deadlines or emergencies. So, at 5:01pm just logout, shutdown, and leave.

Your SaaS product won't scale, then it will break, then all your customers will leave you.
>>105826086nta but the problem with leetcode questions in interviews is they expect you to have memorized the answers, not to derive them on the fly. the first time you encounter a problem it will take you too long to solve it, and most leetcode questions aren't relevant to actual work anyway since there's libraries for everything anyhow and things like "REVERSE THIS TREE RITE NAO" don't come up outside of longer term design phases where you would have time to either figure it out properly or decide to do something else

If you want to improve your average day simply stop arguing with people. 99% of the time is a waste of time.
Coworker decided that it would be a good idea to send error reporting emails (that are already tracked using a dedicated service) to our already spam packed email inbox.
I congratulated him on the Teams channel then proceed to create a custom rule to send these emails straight to the trash.
new thread when?
>>105828290I work less than that. in fact, my boss promotes being lazy and taking time.
I wish I worked more and oversaw more stuff so I could have more fun and distract myself from real life

If I ever hear anyone from upper management use the word "ownership" as an excuse to have me do his job for free, I'm going to shoot the place.
>>105828305Isn't the whole point of problems like this that you see how the applicant reasons through them to make sure they have decent logic skills? Idk I never actually had a leetcode style interview
>>105828746That's the theory but considering most interviews are at most an hour, if it's truly a novel problem it'll take up most of the hour. And in a realistic setting, you'd just look up if anyone else has done it before, briefly check their work, and implement that at first to get it working then optimize later.
And you can be all
>IT HSULDNT TAKE U A HOUR TO REVERS A BINARY TREEbut 55 minutes were already spent on vibe checks and the seemingly mandatory "hirer outright shills the company products to you as if you could buy one, let alone care to even if you could" session, so in those remaining 5 minutes you better have a good solution basically instantly since you'll need 4 out of those 5 to run the interviewer through "your" thought process.
Well I've already come up with a plan to land a new job. There are two things that currently are in demand that I'm lacking due to working with boomers, typescript and testing. An udemy course I bought years ago was updated and now includes both of them, so I'm just going to watch those chapters and update my resume saying I got 3 yoe, all of this without writing a single loc.
